Wow! Great book. I had to get the sequels to find out what happened to them.
learning about the things we put the Indians through was very educational and sad!
good history about treatment of Indians
It was very interesting to learn about the missionary and the Indian way of life. There were good people and some bad ones too. It told about they lived and work together. Building school for the Indian children help the Indian men how to farm. I enjoy it because it showed me different people can. Get along together if they both work at it.
Great characters look into another time and different world. Greatly enjoyed .
Great fact-based story. Enjoyable read. Clean, Christian themes while being real.
I liked it very much
Well-written and researched historical novel with great characters.
This entire series by Stephanie Whitson (Including Edge of the Wilderness and Heart of the Sandhills) is good reading and keeps you engaged. The author does a good job of keeping a strong faith perspective without getting preachy. The many challenges the characters face are realistic and heart-wrenching and inspire us to be as trusting in God’s powere to cause everything, even the bad things, to work for our good..
I loved the accuracy of the history surrounding this story. While the characters are fiction, the event is historical. It gives a clear picture of the tragic events that surrounded the government mismanagement of the Natives of our region….along with a clear picture of those who DID seek to make a new and better future for the tribes.
The characters were so well developed and lovable that I have purchased the next two books in the series.
This book begins a little slow and dry but hang in there it gets better and is definitely worth the effort.
Very eye opening; this book was well written and captures well the tragic fate of the Dakota Sioux. The characters were compelling, and, while it didn’t end happily ever after the way I wished, it had a deeper impact than just a feel good story.
enjoyed, would recommend
It is different.
This was an enjoyable book. The circumstances were ever changing. The characters were strong. The plot was well written with some interesting twists.
wish it would have ended different
DIDN’T LIKE IT LEFT ME UP IN AIR
