Valkyrie’s Choice by Arizona Tape is such an awesome story to read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I fell in love with and can not wait to see what this author writes about next. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romances in their books.

Betrayed. Abandoned. The Heir of the East must stand alone in her fight for truth and justice, but not for the dead but for those still living and herself.
When we left Brynhild, she had just overheard her best friend Stina blackmailing the headmaster of The Afterlife Academy. Stina is holding the headmaster’s daughter hostage in exchange for his cooperation.
His cooperation includes the poisoning of Heike and the cover-up of Stina ripping off Heike’s wings. Never mind the cove-up of the tornado being magical in nature and constructed by Stina and her boss. The sole goal being to destroy and kill Brynhild.
Brynhild is shocked. She tells her Grandmother who does not believe her. What to do? No resources. No help. Stina and the headmaster must be stopped.
Brynhild has no choice…The Heir of the East will make the next choice.
Arizona Tape starts Valkyrie’s Choice (Vampari Press, B07W4XQDX6, 2019) the second book in “The Heir of the East” off slowly. We sit in the mass of confusion and denial that Bryn feels as a result of the bombs that have gone off in her life. Her haven of safety of course is Thea’s. It is during this time that Bryn takes her “pause” and realizes that life cannot be what she wants it to be at that time.
From that moment on, Tape moves quickly through the story to a somewhat unsatisfying conclusion. I write unsatisfying because Tape has this as only being a two book series and that just cannot be. Yes, the book has a definitive ending and you can come to some conclusions as to what happens next. I am so greedy (laugh). I want more…and I guess that is what makes Tape so good.

Resolution, but no resolution
Yes, we get a resolution to everything that happened in the previous book! The true characters all come out! Bryn finally stands up to her grandmother, in several ways, managing to impress her as much as piss her off! And Bryn finds out what she truly wants to be as well. But…
Yes, there’s always a “but”. The ending left me quite disappointed. We have here a slow-burn romance, which doesn’t fully resolve. Everything is building up to something that doesn’t quite happen. Maybe in the main series, we’ll get to see how that develops, but unfortunately it doesn’t happen here. I believe that that was the biggest let down of the two books, knowing that there could have been so much more.
What I liked most, however, was the deeper digging into the mythology, as Bryn travels through the afterlife on her own, discovering other lines in the mythology belonging to some of the other beings, which she in turns relates back to these other beings in the living world.
All in all, it isn’t bad. Bryn learning “BSL” (in this instance, Banshee Sign Language instead of British Sign Language) is an interesting one, along with why they use the sign language. Along with other little quirks, it makes it an interesting story.
Final rating: – Really liked
She is given a choice but she cannot decide what to do for the best. Will she make the right choice? Will someone choose for her? Will she hate the choice given her? See where she will end up at

Valkyrie’s Choice is the perfect conclusion to this duology. The relationship between Thea and Bryn is perfectly balanced, and you can feel while the two are interested in one another. The scenes where Bryn learns to sign are done with elegance and class, and the system Arizona Tape has used to create a unique Banshee sign language shows a great deal of imagination and ingenuity. If you’re looking for a sweet read with a truly beautiful relationship, and a fantasy back drop, then this is the series for you!
Valkyrie’s Choice is book two of The Heir of the East series and picks up where book one left off. We continue to follow Bryn on her journey at the academy. Interesting characters, unexpected twists and turns, and a great ending.
This is a good book. It’s well written and characters are likable. This is book 2 of the series. I would recommend reading.

Book two continues to follow Bryn through her time at the academy. Quite a few twists and turns, plenty to keep you engrossed and yet wanting more! Cannot wait for the next one!
Bryn will find out if she is still heir, even though she is happy with the thought of not being it. Bryn will learn the truth about what happened on that day her friend was hurt. She finds out it involves a person close to her and others. She finds herself happy in the company of Thea and their lessons. Bryn is starting to see Thea in a whole different light.
