Ylva’s journey continues and the academy is changing in book five of the series. This book picks up where book four left off and as always once I start reading one of this author’s books I read nonstop until the last page. There is a lot going on in this story filled with mystery, magic, suspense, action, turmoil, twists, intrigue and interesting characters. After that ending I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens next.
Our heroine and her friends have to stand up to protect what they love. But are they enough to stem the tide of change?
This is book five in the series and it does a pretty good job as a standalone, but a lot of the actions in this book are results of the previous books. At this point, it is probably best to start at the beginning.
This story features an interesting blend of elements with urban fantasy as a base. The story is well written and the author blends the various elements into a fast paced story that kept me engaged and turning pages since book one. The plot has lots of twists and turns and that isn’t getting any easier here. But what I really love are the characters and how they continue to grow and develop. They have some together as friends and that can be a very powerful force. Overall, a highly enjoyable read and I am looking forward to the next (and perhaps last?) book in the series.
Highly recommended.

Life at the academy has changed drastically, and adjusting to the changes are not well accepted by most. The midnight ravens have taken over and have their sites set to change the afterlife completely. Leaving our characters battling to decide what is right and wrong, and to free those who are trapped. I feel in This installment of the Afterlife Academy we really get to see Ylva grow. With the turmoil of the school and the evolving changes in friendships and relationships it will keep you on your toes to the end. I’ll leave you with this thought though, holy heck I need more with the way this last off!!!

The Ravens have taken over and are determined to make changes. Ylva and her crew are determined to resist. In 105, Ylva really starts stepping up and standing up for what she believes in. She makes some tough choices, and while she is still kind of oblivious to a few things, I feel like she is really starting to think of others. I loved the Lunar New Year part, the rivalry between her and Astrid. There are some dark parts to the story, but I felt it also pushed Ylva to grow further. I can’t wait to see how the series concludes in 106!
