Wanted: hot nerd seeks dating coach.Picture this – I’m ready to win back the love of my life, and I’m going big this time. We’re talking boom box, sing her name in the rain, let the whole damn neighborhood know I’m good and ready this time around. After all, if you’re going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops. There’s only one little … only one little problem.
My college girlfriend isn’t the one who shows up when I play my “I’ll do anything to win you back” tune. The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore. But she’ll help me win her back. Anything for romance, anything for a guy so willing to go big for love. And that’s what I want at first. Until I get to know my new “romance coach” and discover she’s funny, clever, and keeps me on my toes. Now I don’t want to win anyone else’s heart. I want the woman who’s been helping me all along. Trouble is – she thinks I’m in love with someone else, and when we take off on a road trip, everything I think I know about women is about to be unzipped and turned inside out.

He’s the last person I ever expected to pop into my life, but he might be exactly what I need to save the thing that matters most to me. All I have to do is not fall for him.

I kicked off my latest binge reading (just finished writing a new book, so I earned it:) with one of my favorite rom-com authors. Lauren Blakely always delivers a laugh-out-loud read with engaging characters. UnZipped is no exception. Love, love, LOVE the banter!!
Tom is trying to win back his old girlfriend and it doesn’t go as planned. Tom meets Finley and she agrees to be his dating coach. Tom was a cute nerd but he was clueless when it came to the ladies. Tom meant well but he couldn’t help but put his foot in his mouth and it could be cringe worthy and laughable at times. Poor thing just couldn’t help himself. Finley was a cool character and I liked that she was a comedy writer. This was a cute and funny book and if you are a fan of 80’s movies, you will love the quotes and references. I also listened to this book as I read and the narrators did an amazing job! Joe Arden knocked it out of the park in this book!
Clever nook with lovable characters. There wasn’t a lot of angst and I really like that in a rom com.
While this took a little bit to get into, about a third of the way through I was hooked and giggling as I read. A lot of witty banter, and I loved all the 80s movies referenced. Loved the quote about not having to take down a blowjob stand. Loved her learning to do it with him, her description of how she’d been made to feel about her skills at that definitely was something I could commiserate with. In the end it got really steamy, and I sped through the last 20% because I couldn’t put it down. I’d hoped to have it done in time to review for the release launch on December 14th, but I didn’t get it done in time. So here is my review, a fun book, and definitely one you should check out!
I LOVED this book … and found it a joy to read from the very beginning to the end. The only thing wrong with a book like this is that it DOES end … and you miss the characters because they’re like new friends. Humor, great characters and heat help make this another of Lauren Blakely’s creations that I’ll probably read again … like I usually do with her books. Highly recommend 🙂
Unzipped by Lauren Blakely (Audiobook)
Narrated by: Joe Arden and Andi Arndt
4 Stars – This book started out with a perfect meet cute that had me laughing and continued along with all the great movie references and the sweet story line. Blakley is great at Rom-Com.
Joe Arden and Andi Arndt did a fantastic job as usual. I never hesitate when downloading an audiobook from either of these narrators.

Unzipped is a quick, light-hearted, entertaining, funny, romantic, sexy story that will make you smile. Kyler/Tom & Finley are so cute together and their love story is utterly adorable. I especially liked that Kyler/Tom is NOT the alpha, suave, uber-successful, ripped, out-of-the-box hero (despite the generic cover).
A truly fun read.
Unzipped was the perfect mix of angst, humor and heartwarming feels. I enjoyed the throwbacks to the eighties and the mention of several movies I grew up watching. I loved Tom’s quirky habit of falling back on what he grew up loving. Finley’s was so sweet and I loved her engaging and hilarious personality. It was so much fun watching all the pieces fall together for these two. Finley’s and Tom were perfect for each other and kept me smiling the whole book through. A definite must read if you love heartwarming feel good reads.
Love this author!
I’m a huge Lauren Blakely fan but couldn’t get into this one.
Unzipped by Lauren Blakely is a full length, standalone romance novel with twists and turns.
Meet Kyler – Tom. He’s a bit social awkward. He wants his girl back. The girl whom was his girlfriend years ago in college and he has planned a grand gesture. Only it doesn’t plaqy out like planned. What can I tell. Wrong time, wrong place, wrong woman.
And that leads Tom to Finley – Tina Fey. She’s a successful in her TV Show and Tom quickly becomes her new muse. Not-Cassie is a motormouth, feisty and snitten with Tom.
Unzipped is a highly enetertaining read that had me laughing 2 minutes into the book. I read the book in one sitting, it was that great. It’s a rom/com , a witty and fun read with hilarious scenes, flirty simply a sweet story with great characters.
This book was great!! I loved Finley she was funny and full of insecurites that we all tend to have but she did what she had to do and was able to overcome. Finley and Kyler were awesome, their chemistry was off the charts..I do not want to give to many details, but grab a copy end Enjoy! because you will.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..voluntarily left my own thoughts and reviews
From the meet-cute (which I learned is hyphenated thanks to the author) to every cliched trope acted upon, this book was a fun story from beginning to end. The movie references were classic, the friendship was right on point and the road trip was just a blast.
I was in need of a little pick me up after a few heavy weeks, and UNZIPPED certainly did the trick. I smiled from beginning to end. There is a scene describing a roller coaster ride (a literal ride, not figurative) and it was so detailed, I could hear the “clicking noises” and feel the shaking of the car. It’s one of my favorite in the book.
One of my favorite quotes is: “It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all”.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the classic rom-com.
s Finley get news that her comedy TV show is about to tank, she is at home attempting to come up with new scripts to renew her contract. When an unexpected Angel starts singing on her front lawn.
When Kyler was in college his girlfriend dumped him. But he took her words to heart and started working harder on himself. Now he’s ready to go after said college girlfriend. He’s decides to woo her 80’s movie style. Because who doesn’t LOVE the big gesture from the movies.
Now Finley is helping Kyler who she starts calling Tom to win back his college sweetheart. All while using their adventures to revive her television show.
This adventure takes many loops and turns.

Lauren Blakely is giving us the ultimate SWOON-FEST of a romance with her latest romantic comedy standalone, . All of my fellow 80’s girls are going to GO CRAZY over Kyler and Finley’s happily ever after! Another sexy, light-hearted, goosebump-inducing rom-com that goes straight to the heart and beyond! Witty banter, hilarious shenanigans, and enough sweet emotion to have you swooning for days.

Over the last year I have become quite a big Lauren Blakely fan. Her writing always draws me in straight away with interesting characters that bring you lots of humour, witty banter and some seriously steamy chemistry and Unzipped doesn’t disappoint.
In this book Blakely has given us a hot nerd that designs Rollarcoaster’s, Kyle for us to swoon over and love. When you meet him you will be torn between groaning with OMG don’t do that it will be a disaster, to wanting to cry with laughter. His attempt at the Dobler-inspired boombox moment was both cringeworthy and so sweet and funny. Finlay, the next door neighbour to the girl who he is trying to woo, is in trouble as a comedy writer, with her show on the line she needs some seriously funny inspiration. Enter Kyle! he muse with a boombox.
I really liked the relationship between Kyle and Finlay, it was fun to watch develop. They are total opposites but they challenged each other in a good way.
This book certainly made me smile and swoon making this one a MUST READ
3.5*
Unzipped is a cute, fun, easy read. The witty banter is trademark Lauren Blakely and will put a smile on your face. As someone who was a teen in the 80s I got a kick out of all the movie references, they brought back some fun memories. And honestly, this book could be an 80s romcom- Tom starring as the endearingly clueless hero and Finley the sweet and quirky heroine who sets out wanting to help him reconnect with his old girlfriend but finds herself falling for him instead.
Tom and Finely were very likable characters and I enjoyed “watching” them fall for each other.
*3 Stars*

I normally absolutely adore LB’s books, but this one took me a while to read. I think that is partially because I am currently experiencing end of year slump/burnout with my reading, and also maybe partially because I didn’t really connect with these characters or understand all their movie quotes and references as I haven’t seen a lot of the movies they were quoting, so I didn’t experience the full effect of what it was supposed to make me feel.
There’s lots of comedy in this and lots of cheesy guy trying to win back girl moments, and then girl falling for friend who wants someone else moments, but all in all this is a fun read. I loved the main female character Finley, she was pretty cool and lots of fun. A very individual character.
This is another typical and fun book from LB, I think its just not my time for reading right now. If you’re a fan, definitely give this one a go.
Unzipped by Lauren Blakely is a fun and enjoyable romantic comedy starring two great characters, Finley and Kyler (Tom).
Filled with 80’s movie references, sweet pretend dates, and an exciting adventure as Finley and Kyler go off on a road trip to help Kyler win back his college girlfriend whom he lost.
But things change as Kyler realizes he is falling for Finley. The only problem? She thinks that she’s his romance coach, not his romantic interest. The connection and bond they develop is deeper than either could have expected, it’s just going to take some convincing on Kyler’s part to convince Finley it’s real.
I found this to be a fun and fantastic story. The emotion, the wit, and the romance make this book a must read. Absolutely well crafted story and I happily recommend.
