The book was good. It was easy to read. I felt the characters and storyline weren’t described and developed as fully as I prefer in most of my books. I do understand this was a novella and those are shortened stories, however, I felt like the characters didn’t have the continuity I usually read. It was a quick read if you are looking for something to read while taking a short trip, etc.

Just pure entertainment
If you read Unwrapping the Present for just pure entertainment and suspend all disbelief about the characters actions then you will most likely enjoy this. That is what I ended up doing after I rolled my eyes the first couple of times. I just made the decision to go where ever it was that the author wanted to take the reader and settled back. Sure there were things that I just scratched my head about but I still thought it was a fun novella.
I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Emily is a super model, paid a fortune to look pretty, wear gorgeous clothing and that’s exactly what she does. What she can’t do is speak when she’s in front of strangers so she has an assistant with her to do her talking for her. At 11, she was in love with her next door neighbor in New York City, Evan, and she still hasn’t lost her heart to anybody else. She lost Evan, however, when she moved cross-country to California to become famous. If Evan had only known that she mirrored his feelings for her, perhaps their story wouldn’t have taken so much time to find its happy ending.. Their journey is bittersweet, loving and oh, so touching! A heartwarming tale of love, lost and found, of finding all the pieces of your broken heart and gluing them back together again to make an even stronger love. A charming story!
Emily has lived with her somewhat father figure Jacob since her mother died. He was her mother’s true love and it just seemed right to go stay with him. However she never expected to become a model and be famous. Everything that goes with her fame terrifies her to death. She has select mutism and can’t talk to groups of people. The modeling is starting to get to her so she asks Jacob if they can return to New York for her birthday. He is for it until he sees its something she really wants. Evan is working as a manager in a pizza place however its not all he does there and its not hundred percent legal. When his friend tells him that his brother Jacob and Emily are coming home Evan gets excited to see Emily again. When they arrive home sparks fly between Emily and Evan when the reunited again. All she wants is to have a simple life. Can Evan help her explain that to Jacob? Will she finally get her man?
This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

When in Love, What Is Normal?
Emily’s world was never anyone’s “normal,” but it was her “normal.” She had the full love and attention of her mother, Jane, although never knew her father. But she did know the love of her mother’s life, Jacob, the boy who had grown up across the street in New York City. So, when Jane died before she was 30 and Emily was 11, Jacob, became Emily’s surrogate father. He was an up and coming actor who had pursued his profession to California. So, when Jane died, Emily was scooped up by Jacob, her long-distance surrogate dad, and transported to his world of glitz and façade in LA, leaving behind the familiar, even young Emily’s secret childhood love, Evan, the best friend of Viktor, Jacob’s younger brother.
Emily was the beautiful daughter of her beautiful mother and Jacob, and it was “normal” that she would fall into a public life. But, while that world was “normal” for Jacob, it was anything but “normal” for Emily whose fears and insecurities manifest itself in selective mutism—an inability to communicate—especially under stress and uncertainty. So, when Emily’s beauty propelled her into the world of high fashion modeling, her anxiety and panic attacks required her to have a go-between, an individual whom trusted Emily and with whom she could communicate when she could not communicate with others. Usually that assistant was her dad, Jacob, but while visiting NYC over the Christmas holidays, Jacob and Emily have conflicting jobs. Because Emily and Evan are thrown together over the holidays, first with a shared birthday celebration, and a shared sexual encounter and then shared partnership as Evan becomes her assistant, the previously unannounced and not fully acknowledged passions begin to grow.
Crystal Faye’s romance explores the evolution of love mingled with the challenges of an individual facing the daily battles of personal fears and limitations that result from those fears. The struggles of Emily to gain her self-confidence and to claim her own life goals, dreams and loves is a tender story of the sacrifices that lovers make for each other. I would have enjoyed a fuller development of the relationship of Jacob and Jane–perhaps in prologue to frame that relationship and as a preview of life to come for the couple and their family.
I received this book as an ARC reviewer, but I bought the novel as a reader who will enjoy having it in my personal library.
Emily and Evan had loved each other since they were children, only they never told each other. It was interesting to find a couple which was more interested in being happy in their vocation as opposed to making money. Good story with interesting characters.

The story of Emily and Evan is like a small town love story with a big city setting. Falling in love with the girl/boy next door and tragedy, loss of a parent, makes it almost impossible to see a future in your favor. Racked with anxiety about her modeling career and the publicity it comes with, her old neighborhood and old crush sound like home. Once back home feelings they both thought they his very well bubble to the surface and they finally are together. BUT! Soon arrests are made hearts are broken. Can they revover? I believe it’s worth reading to find o
Lovely Romance Story
Very good title, that upon completion of the novel, makes total sense. This was a lovely romance story. The story was original, the writing good and the flow of the story was smooth. The characterizations were well developed and showed growth over time. The main female had some issues that she came to get a grip of and was able to actualize her personal goals.

This is a love story thru and thru. You have your family dynamics, overcoming obstacles and finding your HEA. I was totally mesmerized by this story. This was true love being there for her and making life special for her. Even though they ended up in jail and she in the hospital. Circumstances like those will either bring you together or tear you down. They had an attraction that blossom into love. Evan would do anything for Emily. This story was captivating and entertaining . Great Job on another story welldone.

Nice story of young love. Emily grew up with and fell in love with Evan when they were kids. Emily moved away with her step-father after the death of her mother. She also suffers from a condition that causes her to become mute in public, but becomes a successful model. Evan grows up and makes some bad decisions which get Emily in trouble when she comes home for the holidays. Both overcome their circumstances for a great HEA.

It took a little time before I really got into this story but it had a great ending. Emily was definitely a little different but a successful model who had a great stepdad. Emily was in love with the boy next door since she was little and Evan the boy next door had loved her just as long but neither of them knew about the other’s feelings. They finally find each other and get together after some twists, turns and surprises. They get married and have a happy ending.
Emily wasn’t able to talk when she around people that she didn’t know or feel comfortable with. She’s is a well-known supermodel in LA but doesn’t want to continue to be a model. She is tired of the whole modeling business and she just wants to find a normal job and she never got to complete high school. That and not being able to talk makes it difficult for her to think about a career change and what she wants in her life. Emily always been in love with Evan who lived next door to her in her childhood. All she wants is to go back to NY for the holidays, see Evan and rest. Evan had always loved Emily, but he doesn’t feel like he has a chance winning her heart. Evan is the bad boy next door that has been secretly in love with Emily. Can these two find love and true happiness together, even with there two different lifestyles?
