After reading Unwanted, I really don’t know that I could write a review that would truly describe what this book did to me. To say it was an emotional read would be a huge understatement. Even if I didn’t have personal experience, I would have had a good idea what it was like based on the talented author’s words.
Tyler and Emma are a married couple who have been trying to have a baby for a long time. When they finally succeeded, Emma almost dies giving birth. Afterwards, postpartum depression hits her hard. This is something that can happen to anyone and is more prevalent than most of society would like to believe.
It was very hard for me to gather the courage to read this book but I am so glad I did. Tyler is such an amazing husband who just wouldn’t give up. He gave her space and hoped all would turn out OK. My heart ached as I read through each chapter. It broke me yet healed me too in a lot of ways.
This was Leigh Lennon’s first trilogy when she began writing and recently re-covered as well as rewrote parts. This is my first time reading the books and I won’t forget them anytime soon. This author is extremely talented and these will not be my last books by her that I plan to read. Just make sure you keep a kleenex box by you through all three books.
Love this book. I can’t say enough good things about this book it’s well written and has wonderful characters. This book also deals with a real life issue in a compassionate beautiful way and real way.
This was a good read. I did feel for Emma though. Watching someone go through what she did is hard.
Oh, my heart!!!
Unwanted broke me. I knew this story would be hard, but I did not expect to fall completely in love with it. I have never experienced childbirth and never understood postpartum depression so to have this author bring this story to life, gutted me. I now realize how it can affect women differently. Emma’s struggles are real and understandable. Tyler stole my heart. He did everything you want a husband to do to fight for his family. I love this author’s writing. I still have the tissues next to me when I think about this story.
I love Emma and Tyler’s story. My heart absolutely broke for Emma as she dealt with personal trauma, while everything and everyone she really wanted and needed was right in front of her. At times I found myself frustrated with Emma for the way she was acting, but I have never experienced what she had. The author does a great job of bringing to life a difficult situation, that really does happen. I will continue to read books by this author!
Leigh Lennon has done it again! Oh, the feels! Honestly, I have not read a Leigh Lennon book yet that I haven’t loved. She is definitely a master at storytelling.
I wanted to love this book, but a lot of it fell flat for me. First off, I had a hard time liking Emma, but what really got me was the awkward dialogue and the more “telling” rather than describing of what was happening.
This was my first book in the series, but it was hard to keep track of who all the characters were. And the extra POVs were confusing at times.
Overall, the author did an okay job of tackling a hard topic.
Emma and Tyler’s story is heartbreaking. A great read!!!
There are so many ups, downs and uncertainties in this story. It hurts so many people seeing Emma the way she is. She tries, but will she ever get to the point where she wants her baby girl. Tyler keeps fighting to get his wife back. His support team is amazing and helps every chance they get. If there is one thing in life, it’s that life is short, hold on to those you love and never let go. This opened my eyes more to how postpartum affects some woman and how bad it can actually be. It’s important to support them and help them get that help they need to form that bond with their baby.
This story was just breaking my heart, I can’t imagine what this new mother was feeling but you can sympathize with her terror. Emma and Tyler tried for years to have a child and when that didn’t work they tried in vitro which took but the birth was complicated. When Emma can’t bear to even look at her daughter they send her away to get help which may just break them apart. Reading how Emma is struggling with her demons makes you appreciate the life you have.
Emma needed help. She knew that. And her cries for it went unheard until it was almost too late. So Tyler makes the hard choice to let leave to get that help. But Emma knows that there’s a place that can help her more, so she runs there…without telling anyone at first. Was it rash? Maybe. But did it save her? Yeah, I think it did.
This isn’t the easy stuff. This is the painful, the miserable, the raw, and the ugly. This is PTSD and postpartum depression combined into something so overwhelming that it almost swallows everyone whole. And no one really grasps how hard it is on Emma. Or her mindset. Sure, she’s been dramatic in other books of this series, but her journey was so heartbreaking and NOT the easy road that I had to stick with her now. Because she wasn’t being dramatic. I’ve never experienced postpartum depression myself, but I’ve seen it. And this is a very good depiction of how it can morph someone into truly believing that there is no worth to them. Because of that, I wanted to slap Tyler a few times. But he hung in there also. He didn’t take the easy way either. So when Emma finally finds her way home, I felt so utterly satisfied with her story that I almost cried.
This is what happens when help is needed but almost not found. This is all about how to bring someone back. And it’s an incredible read to me.
This book will bring out so many emotions that you won’t know what to do. First you feel so bad for Emma that she feels so at the end of her rope. You will fall in love with Aspen. Tyler will give you the feels with his loyalty. Then you will either be mad at Emma or so sad for her but I promise you will feel for her. This book ripped my heart out and slowly put it back together. But I never expect anything different from Leigh. Read the first two books first. I promise you will not be disappointed in any of them. I think this one is my favorite even though I went through so many tears with this one.
I knew from reading the other two books, that this one was going to rip my heart out. Knowing this, I still wanted a happy ending for Ty and Emma. This one hit close to home for me.. I had bad postpartum with my youngest and got to a bad point with it. I found myself feeling super hard for Emma. Tears rolled down my face so many times during this book. I mean, you have to want to get better and can’t be forced to overcome your pain instantly. The author did a beautiful job of showing just how hard this journey is. Ty, on the other hand, is a saint. He knew his wife was hurting and knew something was off. He was willing to do anything to get her help and help her heal from the trauma. He wanted her to bond with their miracle baby. He did everything for this child, including putting his life on hold to prove how much he loved her. This book was heartbreaking at so many times but it does have a happy ending for them. Emma and Tyler prove that they can make it even thru the worst of times. They may not be perfect but they prove they still have passion and love for each other. This was such a beautiful book!
This was a difficult read ( not in the writing style or the characters) but the topic. Tyler and Emma’s story is one for the ages and was an incredible emotionally charged read. This is a story which I had to read for a bit, step away from and come back to as it was definitely not a sit down and power through read. I love how the characters are incorporated from the prior books and you learn a bit more about all them with the primary focus on Tyler and Emma. The two main characters were easy to like and left me hoping beyond all hopes they could find each other again
This book was beautifully written!! Some of the subject matter was a little touchy because of what happens but if you just push through it you will love it.
Emma and Tyler have wanted a baby of their own and it finally happens. Only when complications arise during delivery and leaves Emma fighting for her life.
Emma is struggling with all that come with loving a child because of what happens. Will she be able to “learn” to love her child and all that comes with it?
Tyler is doing everything he can to provide for both Emma and their little girl. Will he be able to help Emma fight her demons?
I enjoyed the journey of Emma finding herself through the struggle of all she went through. I also loved how Tyler did everything in his power not to lose those he loves.
I’m still thinking about this book. It is a follow up to two other books by this author but certainly can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend reading the other books, Unfiltered and Unacquainted, to get the total impact and understanding of the family dynamics. This author tackles relevant issues in a realistic and true manner. At several times this book broke my heart. You will run the gamut of emotions from sobbing for Emma, Tyler and Nick to being hopeful for Emma and Tyler, being angry at Emma off and on to not knowing how to really feel. You will see everyone’s perspective and at times feel very frustrated as if you’re a part of this situation. This is what I mean by being true, it draws you in and makes you think. Who hasn’t been faced with seeing people change from what they were to what they’ve become and knowing how to help them or how to cure them? You may also learn things that you didn’t know before if you’ve been privy to the issues in this book. This book will provide all the “feels” and yes I mean ALL the “feels”. Leigh provides the heat! Do yourself a favor and read this book.
Not your typical romance – Ms Lennon did a wonderful job writing about a difficult but very real issue with manynew mothers. Unwanted is the story of Emma and Tyler who have already been married for several years, struggled with infertility and when they finally got their baby, the trauma of almost dying during labor left Emma with postpartum depression and PTSD. The story is heartwrenching, emotional, and poignant as we follow both Tyler’s and Emma’s struggles in dealing with the PPD, caring for the baby and eventually finding their way back to each other.
Unwanted is book 3 in the Unbreakable series, and the most emotional book so far.
In true Leigh fashion, she sucks you in and makes you feel the ups and downs with all the characters. I think this is a tough subject to write a book about, and I applaud her. I was sympathetic for Emma while simultaneously feeling frustrated by her. Tyler was everything you could hope for in a male MC, supportive and his love was unconditional.
One thing I really appreciated about this story, is the fact that is was the male of the couple keeping everything together and working tirelessly to help his wife, and his family. So often that role falls on the female MC.
5 star Review Unwanted (Unbreakable #3) by Leigh Lennon
My first comment is have your tissues ready. Having read numerous books by Leigh Lennon I knew that it would be well written, that’s a given. However what I didn’t count on was the emotional roller coast of a journey that she took me on along with Tyler and Emma.
From the first word to the last, I was riveted to this story and read well into the night, I just had to keep reading until I reached the end. This is a story that left me with one heck of a book hangover. It was captivating, heart breaking and beautifully written; a story of grief, overwhelming heartache, sadness and above all love.
Most of us know someone who has struggled to conceive, we have seen the toll it takes on the couple as well as their family. The feelings, reactions and actions within this book were from my own experience spot on. It is obvious that Ms.Lennon has done her research as it shines through in her story telling.
If you are looking for a book that will bring out all the feels, then look no further. This is an emotional gem of a story that I have no hesitation in recommending.
Unwanted is certainly a book that will stay with you long after the final word has been read, it’s a beautifully written, heartbreaking story that touched me on so many levels and it’s left me with one of the biggest book hangovers ever. I really think you need to read this book with no preconceived ideas so my review will be short and sweet.
This is a very emotional read, it touches on some hard subjects but it’s written with compassion and love and Ms Lennon has given us a very special powerful read so please make sure you have a box of tissues handy. This author painted pictures with her words and I felt every emotion as I hung her ever word. I’m not sure I have the words to do this book justice so I guess all I want to say is please one click Unwanted, you won’t be disappointed in fact I’m sure this journey will stay with you long after you finish this book. I read this book in one sitting so be warned make sure you have time to finish what you start.
