A man’s quest to find answers for those who are haunted by the past leads him deeper into the shadows in this electrifying New York Times bestseller from the author of Promise Not to Tell.Quinton Zane is back.Jack Lancaster, consultant to the FBI, has always been drawn to the coldest of cold cases, the kind that law enforcement either considers unsolvable or else has chalked up to accidents or … or else has chalked up to accidents or suicides. As a survivor of a fire, he finds himself uniquely compelled by arson cases. His almost preternatural ability to get inside the killer’s head has garnered him a reputation in some circles–and complicated his personal life. The more cases Jack solves, the closer he slips into the darkness. His only solace is Winter Meadows, a meditation therapist. After particularly grisly cases, Winter can lead Jack back to peace.
But as long as Quinton Zane is alive, Jack will not be at peace for long. Having solidified his position as the power behind the throne of his biological family’s hedge fund, Zane sets out to get rid of Anson Salinas’s foster sons, starting with Jack.

Great book
UNTOUCHABLE by Jayne Ann Krentz was an enjoyable romantic suspense novel and is the third book in the Sons of Anson Salinas series. This book worked as a standalone novel for me. Jack Lancaster and Winter Meadows are the protagonists in this story. Jack is the survivor of a fire that occurred when he was young and works on cold cases involving fire. Winter has recently moved to Eclipse Bay, Oregon to escape a stalker. Jack seeks some help from Winter who is working as a meditation therapist. From the initial flashbacks to the exciting ending, this was an enjoyable read.
The novel is mainly set in Oregon and California. Jack and Winter are likeable characters with a lot of chemistry between them. The books focuses on the suspense part of the novel with a build up of chemistry and, eventually, a couple of steamy scenes. The plot is reasonably well-crafted and the story line flows well. However, the conflicts are largely external and not internal. The plot twists are believable and plausible, but not totally unexpected.
Overall, the novel was engaging and very readable with a dramatic peak to the action. If you enjoy romantic suspense novels, then this may be one that you will enjoy.
This is the third romantic suspense in a trilogy featuring three foster brothers who grow up to make it their mission to take down the man responsible for many deaths–including those of their mothers. Untouchable features a realy interesting heroine who has the ability to hypnotize people, and it’s always nice to read about a heroine who can do as much or more than the hero to take down the bad guys.
It is always my pleasure to step into the many worlds of Jayne Ann Krentz. Romance at its liveliest. Suspense at its most gripping. Sometimes mystical, almost magical. Untouchable is all of that and more.
Winter Meadows can hypnotize others to an intriguing degree. Is it a natural degree? Not by everyday standards.
Jack Lancaster can solve unsolvable cold cases by slipping into the psyche of the killer. Is that normal. Probably not.
But natural, normal or not, these two will need all of that and more if they are to stop a killer—and survive. A deadly arsonist missed his first chance against Jack and he’s determined not to miss again.
And, just maybe, fate will allow two misfits to survive and find their fit. With each other.
Great read.
Untouchable by Jayne Ann Krentz, narrated by Amanda Leigh Cobb
Jayne Ann Krentz is the first author that made me fall in love with contemporary romance. Her slightly paranormal character-traits, strong heroines and the combination of romance with intrigue, makes her romantic-suspense novels a thrilling read.
When meditation expert, Winter Meadows first takes on Jack Lancaster for a client, she was just trying to pay the bills. She never expected to fall in love with him or get tangled up in his obsession of hunting a dead man.
Jack Lancaster is an FBI consultant with the ability to find patterns and details through lucid dreaming. When his dreams threaten to overwhelm his reality, he seeks out Winter Meadows and her meditation techniques. In a short time, Jack comes to rely on Winter. She understands him in a way no one else, not even his family can.
Quinton Zane knows he must first get rid of Jack Lancaster before he can fully realize his goals. When he underestimates Winter and thinks to use her to destroy Jack, he makes a huge mistake. Together, Winter and Jack are Untouchable.
Jayne Ann Krentz weaves the fabric of a story with character, plot and a glittering strand of what-if. She makes the reader believe in possibilities and leaves us entertained and ready for more. One of my favorite authors and Untouchable is another reason why.
This was final book in a trilogy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The fact that Quinton Zane, the once murderous cult leader is still alive ratchets the suspense to another level, especially when he becomes more than just a character recalled through the memories of those whose lives he has affected. I really love the way JAK creates characters with talents that verge on the paranormal, but she does it without slipping over the line of what is and isn’t possible. (At least for readers like me who have always believed you can’t say something doesn’t exist merely because you don’t understand it—leaves me wide open to go with the author’s imagination and thoroughly get into the story.)
All three books in this trilogy are exceptionally well done, and I can’t wait for what comes next. I really enjoyed the characters and the overall connection via the Cutler, Sutter and Salinas agency. Jayne Ann Krentz never disappoints, and I find that her books are ones I always enjoy rereading. I have to add one thing that just added a cherry to the top of some really rich icing—I loved it when Arizona Snow popped up in the story. I’ve always loved her! I would love to be a tough old broad like AZ!
I buy and read all her books.
When it comes to storytelling, to me, Jayne Ann Krentz is a reigning queen! Her stories always involve suspense and lead characters into some dangerous situations. UNTOUCHABLE is no different. This story is about Winter Meadows and Jack Lancaster. Both of these characters have an awesome backstory, but I think that Winter’s is more interesting…mainly because I already knew Jack from the other books about his foster brothers.
Winter Meadows has a talent, one that she has used in the past but has turned into a career as a meditation therapist. And one of her most interesting clients is Jack Lancaster. Jack is a lucid dreamer. Something about him really stirs her senses, but dating clientele is the way to not get more business. But when he saves her from a dangerous situation and starts to connect dots to a danger from his past, it soon becomes time to team up.
Jack and his foster brothers have been chasing Quinton Zane for years. Now the time has come for him to finally get his chance to catch Zane and stop him, but only if he can stay one step ahead of his prey. Passion and danger collide when Winter and Jack give in to their attraction, because the danger continues to follow them. Zane gets closer to finishing his job of destroying Jack and his brothers, and Jack is the first one to go.
UNTOUCHABLE is phenomenal! Jack is a really interesting character. He reminds me of a sexy teacher with serious alpha vibes that come up when you least expected it. He is very serious, and I think at times his somewhat dry humor made the book more interesting. The chemistry that he and Winter shared in the book just made my reader’s heart sigh with romantic happiness. And Winter is a very strong female character that I really enjoyed.
I have to admit, one of my favorite things is that this book starts out in Eclipse Bay! Any fans of JAK know the importance of Eclipse Bay in her other series, as well as Arizona Snow. I think that woman gets better every time she makes an appearance in a book (and I write that with a big smile on my face).
Overall, AMAZING! Suspense, passion, danger, and the conclusion to an awesome storyline. All of the Salinas brothers’ books have been fabulous, and I am hoping that even with the conclusion of this storyline there are still more to come from this group of characters. Two thumbs up from me and an RJ RECOMMENDED READ. Happy reading!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. AngelaG, Romance Junkies
Mystery, thrills, and an enjoyable love story from JAK, who returns to Eclipse Bay, the old setting of the Harte-Madison feud. The third book in her new trilogy has the subtle humor, romantic encounters, and family relationships that JAK is known for. This story does not disappoint.
Untouchable by Jayne Ann Krentz was the very satisfactory conclusion to the Cutler, Sutter & Salinas trilogy.
A tighly woven plot, strong character development and suspense kept me turning the pages until I was finished. Quinton Zane was definitely one of those characters I loved to hate – cold, calculating and totally ruthless. Jack Lancaster and Winter Meadows were likable and talented. Lucid dreamding is an area that I have always found fascinating and one that Ms. Krentz has written about before (Falling Awake) but this time it was treated more along the lines of self-hypnonsis. The tension and suspense were perfect and the ending fiery and dramatic. I loved it.
Love Jayne Ann Krentz
Twenty-two years ago, a cult tragedy took the lives of most of the cult followers. A brave cop stormed a locked burning barn and rescued eight children inside. Salinas (the cop) adopted and raised three of those kids, Jack Lancaster, Max Cutler and Cabot Sutter. They now run an exclusive PI agency. Their combined focus has been to find and punish Quinton Zane, the cult leader responsible for their mothers’ deaths in the fire that night. Max and Cabot have made inroads in flushing the elusive Zane out, but Jack has talents that might force this killer’s hand.
Winter Meadows has her own problem, a talent for hypnosis that has her relocating often for self-preservation. Recently, she’s ended up in Eclipse Bay, where she’s starting a meditation business. Jack enlists her help in controlling his own talents. But when a stalker from Winter’s past tries to kill her, Jack deduces the incident isn’t as it appears, and that Zane is really coming after him.
This is the third in this series, and each one has upped the ante of suspense and romance. This is one of Jayne Ann Krentz’s best ever. Great story; I couldn’t put it down. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I am a longtime fan of Jayne’s writing, and this book was the delight I expected. Jack reminded me of Fallon Jones (another JAK character) with his predictive probabilities and his bent toward conspiracy theory. However, he reminded me of Mr. Monk in his tenaciousness and his wardrobe choices. I laughed out loud when Winter wryly noted his recurrent style because she didn’t seem to notice she had her own style limitation thing going on. I loved the cold case angle and kept rooting for Jack and Winter as they struggled against Jack’s lifelong nemesis. Highly recommended.
I’ll read anything by this author….love her stories!
Exciting wrap up to the story of the Salinas brothers. Loved it.
Great storyline and conclusion to prior novel which introduced the main character of Jack Lancaster and his brothers fighting to find the man who killed their mothers 20 years ago.
This book wraps up a series. I also like how the author creates families out of related experiences rather than just blood ties.
Jayne does not disappoint with this book. The end of the Quinton Zane saga, and it’s an amazing ending. Great characters and plot, as per usual for Jayne! Looking forward to her next book.
Enjoyed a lot.
