A man’s quest to find answers for those who are haunted by the past leads him deeper into the shadows in this electrifying New York Times bestseller from the author of Promise Not to Tell.Quinton Zane is back.Jack Lancaster, consultant to the FBI, has always been drawn to the coldest of cold cases, the kind that law enforcement either considers unsolvable or else has chalked up to accidents or … or else has chalked up to accidents or suicides. As a survivor of a fire, he finds himself uniquely compelled by arson cases. His almost preternatural ability to get inside the killer’s head has garnered him a reputation in some circles–and complicated his personal life. The more cases Jack solves, the closer he slips into the darkness. His only solace is Winter Meadows, a meditation therapist. After particularly grisly cases, Winter can lead Jack back to peace.
But as long as Quinton Zane is alive, Jack will not be at peace for long. Having solidified his position as the power behind the throne of his biological family’s hedge fund, Zane sets out to get rid of Anson Salinas’s foster sons, starting with Jack.

Yes, Jayne Ann Krentz is a friend, but I was reading her long before I met her and UNTOUCHABLE is one of her best. If you’re missing the Jayne Castle books, this one has that feel. Really enjoyed it.
How can you ever go wrong with anything by Jayne Ann Krentz?! She gives us plenty of suspense and romantic tension without gore. A great end to this series! Don’t miss it!
Intriguing, romantic suspense with a touch of paranormal.
For the last few of Jayne Ann Krentz’s books (When All The Girls Have Gone, Promise Not To Tell) readers have been following the foster sons of retired cop Anson Salinas as they struggle with traumatic childhoods and the ghosts of the past. All four men have been sure that one of those ghosts- murderer, con man, and pyromaniac Quinton Zane- is still alive. In Untouchable Jack Lancaster finds himself on the front line in the battle against Zane, because Zane knows Jack may be the most dangerous of them all.
Jack is a delightfully tortured hero whose very strengths when it comes to working cold cases make for less than ideal relationship material for the average woman. He worries that each case he solves is bringing him farther into a darkness that one day he may not be able to come out of with his sanity intact. Jack prides himself on being able to calculate the odds of anything, and never considering anything 100% until it has already happened. Fortunately, Jack finds his way to the little town of Eclipse Bay and to Winter Meadows. Winter is one of those very rare individuals who sees reality plainly, and still manages to put a positive spin on situations. For all her positive thinking, Winter is not an annoyingly chipper or bubbly person, but a perfect match for Jack. She has her own secrets but is now setting up in Eclipse Bay as a meditation instructor. When Winter is attacked by a crazed stalker, Jack realizes that things are more than they seem, and the stalker is only a pawn being controlled by none other than Quinton Zane.
Untouchable is an exciting suspenseful thriller from start to finish, bringing Jack and Winter from tiny Eclipse Bay to trendy California to the mysterious San Juan islands as they chase leads. Long-time Krentz/Amanda Quick readers will be happy to revisit Eclipse Bay and Burning Cove, and will cheer cameo appearances by Arizona Snow, Max Cutler, Cabot Sutter, and Anson Salinas. As always, you can count on Jayne Ann Krentz to keep you glued to the page with her delightful blend of dry wit, crackling chemistry, and edgy suspense. An excellent finale to this trilogy, new readers won’t feel like they jumped into something halfway through the action and devoted readers won’t be disappointed!
Untouchable by author Jayne Ann Krentz, (Cutler, Sutter, & Salinas #3) is an interesting suspense thriller with a return of Jack Lancaster. Jack is a consultant to the FBI and is being drawn back into the firey darkness of hunting Quinton Zane, again! He suspected that Zane would have found a way to escape the burning boat and reinvent himself with a new name. I really enjoyed the Winter Meadows aspect of this story and her childhood history with Alice. I like Winter and her special gift of being a hynotist as she helps Jack work through the darkness of this case in Untouchable. The story is fast-paced as Jack and Winter have a couple of very narrow escapes. Oh, and I love the gift of the red sofa!
A great weaving all the way through this series… ! Book 3 has wonderful characters, adventure, romance, murder and mayhem of course.. family dynamics, family history, and heirs! I read the series straight through! I just ordered another series…The Vanishing!
Once again Jayne Ann Krentz has written a fabulously entertaining read full of passion and intrigue and characters that are memorable and a storyline that flowed flawlessly from page to page. Krentz is a fantastic writer and her romantic suspense books are some of my favorite reads. In Untouchable we dive back in to her continuing series Culter,Sutter,&Salinas. Jack Lancaster is a dream walker who solves cold cases and all though he helps close cold cases and gets answers for others he still hasn’t been able to find Quinton Zane the man how killed his mother and set fire to the members of his cult once they found out he was a liar and swindler. For over 20 years it has haunted him and when he goes to a meditation guide Winter meadows not only is she able to help him with fire walks but she’s not afraid of what he can do. Winter has a special gift that she’s had since childhood, its the ability to use hypnotic suggestion and after being orphaned at a young age it helped her to survive living on the streets. But when Zane reappears not only is jack and the rest of his family loose ends to get rid of but so is winter. I have read Jayne Ann Krentz books for years and you would think after all these years she would’ve run out of storylines, but she always puts out a fabulous book and she’s my go to time and again for romantic suspense! Until next time Loves
anything br Krentz is worth the read.
This nonstop romantic suspense left me asking “Why haven’t I read more Jane Ann Krentz books?” From the informative backstory prologue to the unusual first scene of Chapter One at a sleep center, to the attempted murders and actual murders, then the inevitable chase and the very satisfying ending, I got swept away in Jack and Winter’s story. Loved Arizona! What a character, and a personality I would love to parrot in my eighties. Gutsy and unafraid. Yeah! Winter has a special talent that (as many romance writers like me may also feel) is not really appreciated, accepted, or considered legitimate in the everyday world. She can hypnotize people but mainly works as a meditation guide to make ends meet. Jack is a huge lucid dream guy, to the extreme, and his obsessive and unusual approach to solving cold cases has marked him by many women as not a good bet for the long run. As the saying goes…until he meets Winter. Thrown together because of a 22-year-old cold case of arson and murder, one that hits extremely close to home for Jack, they work to bring down the evil-to-extreme villain. Jack’s investigatory skills serve him well as he pieces together the over arching puzzle of who is trying to kill Winter and why. Or is it Winter they’re after? With the help of his foster brothers and foster father, Jack figures out who and why the villain is acting in such a desperate manner. Because this is a suspense, I was 95.5 percent sure Jack and Winter would solve the case and save their own hides. And because this is a romantic suspense, I was 99.5% sure they would fall in love. (Have to read the book to get the percentages bit) Highly recommended for some great escape reading, and boy did I need this now.
So good! Great read when you have some time to kill as you fall right into it. It had a little bit of everything I needed to be riveted and get lost while catching some rays!
Are there better words than fantastic, excellent, wonderful?!?! I have read and re-read this author. Always a go to series!! Writer is also Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle
One of my favorite authors.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I’ve read almost all of the Amanda Quick books. This was my first mystery. I’ll read more mysteries by Jayne.
One of my all time favorite authors. If it says Krentz, I buy it and read it more than once. Not necessarily my fave Krentz (I’m listening to Trust Me right now – that one IS one of my faves). But even a not-fave Krentz is head and shoulders above most of the competition. Thanks, Jayne Anne.
Another winner from one of my favorite authors! Krentz did not disappoint in this complicated quest to find answers and revenge. The reader is given enough background information to get the plot moving along nicely. The villain attempts to murder Winter, friend and neighbor of our hero, in order to draw him out where he can easily be eliminated. When that fails, Winter and Lancaster join forces and personal talents to locate Zane who has been in his sights since childhood. It is quite a ride as the reader receives information as Lancaster does. Great read!
I greatly enjoyed this book. It totally kept me guessing and was action packed. I highly recommend it
Another ‘cannot put down’ book in a fascinating series
Made me go back to re-read the other books in this series.
I love all Jayne Ann Krentz books..they never fail to please.
I have always followed Jayne Ann from her First book the Gentle Pirate. Love her characters, the twists and turns she gives her plots and the very human element in the relationships she creates. Untouchable has it all. Jake the dreamer and Winter the hypnotist caught my interest from the first page. I loved the ending.
