I appreciate all the bumps along the way to their happily ever after. It makes them far more intriguing and likeable. Real life is messy, and so is romance. If a romance novel has no struggles along the way, I get bored, partly because I can’t relate to a life in which you have nothing to overcome. I also appreciate the hilarious situations this woman finds herself in, sometimes simply by means of being a bit of a klutz.
This is my first read by Charlotte Fallowfield, although I have read and absolutely loved her alter-ego’s work which she writes under the pen name C.J. Fallowfield.
I’m a little undecided about this story. On the one hand I did enjoy how easy it was to read and the storyline itself. On the other, it took some time for me to get into it and I felt the saga between Alec and Paige lasted a little too long. I smiled lots at the situations Paige found herself in, and I absolutely loved her friendships with both Poppie and Jean-Claude. There was obviously a sizzling attraction between Paige and Alec, but the majority of their times together seemed too brief for me to witness their connection. I did love Alec, so I can understand Paige’s feelings towards him although I would have liked to have witnessed more of them together.
Until We Collide is an enjoyable easy going read. Maybe it wasn’t the right time for me to be reading a rom-com and that’s the reason why I have mixed feelings…. who knows? I’ll definitely try another of Charlotte’s published work and hopefully I will enjoy it even more.
4 Colliding Stars. Seriously, this is a hilarious rom-com that I had a hard time putting down. You have to be in the mood for some British humor and Charlotte Fallowfield delivers that in abundance. I am sometimes hesitant to read British authors. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but there is something off-putting for me. Well, not with Ms. Fallowfield! She delivers a heartfelt, emotional story with impeccably timed humor and wit.
Alec and Paige are two star-crossed wannabe lovers who never really get the chance to be lovers. They are always crossing paths but never at the right time. Alec is seriously on the list of one of the best book boyfriends ever and Paige has her own category but I’m not even sure what that category is. She is the ultimate klutz but it works for her. In fact, it more than works. Her string of awful dates will keep you rolling with laughter. Her antics continue right up to the last page of the book.
Warning: This book causes spontaneous outbursts of laughter with occasional snorting.
One silly situation after another. Every time I thought I’d stop reading it … or wished it would get on with it … it just made me laugh again. Anything to do with sex is just funny. 16 years of misunderstandings / miscommunications and each time they happen… about 3 years apart,… I think 8 crazy situations (I’ve never ever in all my years in waters with jellyfish had them chase me).
There had to be enough situations to have written at least 2 or 3 books.
Much better than the first chapter, maybe one too many missed connections but very entertaining.
This story was okay. I knew how this was going to end but, getting to the end was mostly unrealistic, had a few parts (dialogue) that made me laugh out loud that made my husband look at me, haha. In my opinion, this would make a better rom-com movie (chick flick) rather than reading it.
I really enjoyed this book, couldn’t put it down.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Paige was hilarious.
So utterly terrible. A depressing story focused around sex and vulgar language. Unrealistic disgusting scenarios.
Just could not get into this shallow book.
Adorable book. Easy ready. Leaves you cheering.
I could only read the first 45 pages (256-page book) because the writing of the main character was as a typical teen girl in attitude ie makeup, clothes, crush… I realize the story stretches from age 17 to 30 of the main character and might show growth but I could not take the personality any longer. The writing itself was good so if this is something you think you might like then give it a try.
Gave up after 20%. Not interesting to me
Fun though a bit too long
Favorite Quotes:
My mouth went dry as I tried to remember all of Poppie’s tips for kissing over the years. She told me no guy wanted a girl with a mouth as wide as a guppy, who sucked his tongue with the force of a Dyson vacuum cleaner first time, or licked him to death like an overeager puppy. She’d told me to just purse my lips and let him lead and take control. Don’t slobber, don’t slobber, don’t slobber, I chanted to myself as he got closer and closer.
I did a most unladylike snort of amusement, forgetting I had a mouthful of water, and ended up spraying him when I choked on it and two jets shot out of my nostrils as well as a geyser-like torrent from my lips.
His name’s Toby and he’s really nice. It’s been almost a year. It’s serious, I think. I mean, we’re having sex you know, sex is serious. God, now that sounds like he’s a total bore in the bedroom, or that I am. He’s not. I’m not. I’m a hellcat when I get going, a real tigress. My God, what am I saying?
How many times have you laughed at me and my calamities? This is total karma, it’s so nice not to be the clumsy one for once, but next time you suggest a revenge style undercover mission, count me out. You’re more Mr. Bean than Tom Cruise.
The way we kiss? The way my skin vibrates whenever you’re near, the way my heart pounds so hard I think I might die, the way I can’t breathe whenever I look at you? There’s no way we’re not compatible, but I promise you we’ll get plenty of practice in before the day, just to be sure…
My Review:
I frequently giggled as I read, but more than once, I also laughed so hard I had to stop reading to catch my breath. This was a fun and bright and shiny story. The writing was brilliantly funny, highly engaging, and unfailingly entertaining. Paige was an adorable klutz who was prone to hilarious filter less rambling when flustered. She also appeared to be doomed to experience one dating disaster after another, as she seemed to be a magnet for “a*holes, freaks, and perverts.” I cherished her as well as her friendship with Poppie; only the best type of friend would help you get even with a cheating ex by (among other things) putting itching powder in his briefs, allergens on his bed sheets, and fish in his curtains. Their antics and mortifying misadventures were extremely amusing and creative. Ms. Fallowfield’s characters were fresh, intriguing, alluring, and quirky. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end and although I loved the conclusion, I mourned the loss of finishing as I could keep reading Paige and Alec’s story into infinity.
Quick read. Very good.
Oh how I enjoyed this one. It was crazy how bad their timing always was but you wanted nothing more than for them to finally be together. I loved all the clutzy moments and the hilarity of the situations she always found herself in. I loved the perfect ending to it all where they get their happy ever after.
This was one of the most touching romances I have read in months. The characters had a real connection, and the emotions and heartache of the hero and heroine felt very real. The passion and emotion of their love story felt very really. A really good story.
Great little romance story
I loved this book is was hilarious and entertaining. I couldn’t put it down! Can’t wait to read more books from this author.
