Emily was engaged to Michael but broke it off when his ex-girlfriend came back to town. Emily realized how much Michael still loved her so she decides to go spend time with her grandparents. She meets Jonah Bennett. I enjoyed seeing their story come together. This is a new Author to me. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had read the first book in the series and was curious how Emily was doing. Emily by all appearances is the sweet selfless new girl in town. Everyone is talking about how she was jilted by her fiancé Michael when his high school sweetheart came back. As she is picking up the pieces trying to figure out what she wants in life enter Jonah. This was a sweet book full of angst, sweet romance and a sad family tragedy. Emily grows as her life changes and steps into her future.

In this book set in Valley Vale, Ohio, Emily is back living with her grandparents. She left for about a month, after breaking her engagement to Michael. Michael wasn’t over his high school sweetheart, Jenny, and Emily knew it and did the right thing. I’m not going to leave any spoilers about this book, but I will say Emily has had a rough childhood living up to her mother’s expectations, as you will see during the reading of this book. Emily keeps having interactions with Jonah, but he acts like he doesn’t like Emily. When tragedy strikes, Emily has some decisions to make. Grab your copy and see if Emily gets her happily ever after.

This is Emily and Jonah’s story. Emily was engaged to Michael but when his ex girlfriend returned back home Emily realised that Michael still loved her and Emily decided to break off the engagement so Michael could have the woman that he truly loved and Emily hoped that they could all be friends especially as they all lived in a small town where everyone knew all the things that were going on. Jonah was a quiet man and kept to himself but he would always be there to help anyone who needed it but when Emily and Jonah meet things don’t go well. The characters and storyline pulls you in right from the first page and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what would happen next between them. This is the first book that I have read by Alessa Martel but definitely not the last as it was so well written and I really enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading more of this authors books in the future.

This was a sweet romance as Jonah and Emily fell in love. Through the small town drama and overbearing mama, Emily was a bit too much; needy and whiny. The storyline is really interesting and the characters are endearing so overall it’s a sweet story.
