A sweet and sexy second chance romance I highly recommend for a read!
Another great romance! Fun, sexy, and uplifting!
I was lucky to get hold of a pre-release copy of this book, a “one who got away,” contemporary. I love my dukes and Highlanders, but sometimes, the here and now deserves an HEA too. This is a sparkly warm-hearted tale, and I do so love when I can feel an author rooting for her characters. Megan and Alex have a little of the opposites attract vibe going for them, and the way they both have to grow and stretch and trust is just delightful. This is a story that will leave you smiling and sighing, and hoping there are more titles in the Montgomery Brothers series!
A second chance romance that’s sweet, sexy and a little sassy
Samantha Chase is *always* an auto-buy for me!
I am so happy to be back with the Montgomery’s. This is one of my all time favorite series! Love this family and all of these meddling matchmakers. This time around is Megan Montgomery’s story. Megan met Alex Rebat 2 years ago at her cousin’s wedding and had a hot and sexy weekend together. They couldn’t really get anything going long distance so they fizzled out. Now Megan is moving to Portland to work for her cousin Zach. From the moment she sees Alex again, she knows she is in trouble since the feelings she had two years ago never went away. It’s clear he feels the same strong chemistry. They are both extremely busy people and driven by some hidden forces. Can they give it a real go this time around? Can they find a balance? Can they make time for love? I enjoyed this book so much it was sweet, second chance romance that is sexy, emotional and all around wonderful!!
PHENOMENAL READ!!! In my opinion, Samantha Chase’s Until There was Us and her Montgomery Brothers series ranks right there with Bella Andre’s Sullivan series, and Nora Robert’s Inn Boonsboro Series (another Montgomery series, by the way). This series are the books that hooked me to Samantha Chase and her phenomenal writing.
Megan Montgomery and Alex Rebat…. Sigh. The steam factor, although implied, is sooo hot, at some points, I thought my ereader was going to catch fire. I love the strength, the unknown strength that Megan Montgomery has. The way she is determined to live up to and surpass the “Montgomery” name. I LOVED each and every character, welllll, maybe not EVERY one. I wanted to smack Megan’s father upside the head and tell him to get his head out of his a…. stop, PG, have to keep the PG. What he does to his own children. Sorry folks, not going to give anything away. You will need to read this wonderful book to find out what he does and did…..
From reading this wonderful book, I can see the possibility of many more in the future. I cannot wait.
I was gifted with a e-book copy of this book for my reading enjoyment and I cannot wait until it is release in the audio version so I can add it to my collection.
Kudos Ms. Chase on another spectacular story/book.
Thank you for reading my review. Now… YOU!!! Yes, you, the one reading my review. What are you waiting for? Go hit that one-click button. You will definitely enjoy this book!!!
Until There Was Us by Samantha Chase is the most emotionally charged book I’ve read so far. A young woman has had to work so hard to prove to her father that she is just as good as her brothers. Yet he has never once taken notice until she proved him she was just that good. However, she finds out that having her dad’s approval could mean an unwanted life with him constantly telling her how to run her life. Her brother Christian had always been their father’s favorite. But after what their dad did to him, he’s turned into ‘the stone man’. That visit with her brother helped them both. She got to see her brother and understand what would happen if she let her dad give her a job. Then, there the issue of her working too much. She is trying to fix that but it’s harder than saying she can. But there’s a special man who can help make her feel happy again. If only she lets him into her life and heart. Megan was burned once and her self-esteem isn’t as great as it should be. Megan is a determined, bright, and good person. I really liked her. I felt like her and I could be best friends for life. Plus, she has a secret…
Alex is a therapist. He’s so caring it’s hard not to like the man. Also, he’s just as sexy as he is sweet. Alex loves the outdoors and is best of friends with Megan’s cousin. Alex met Megan at a family wedding and they hit it off from there. But since then, Megan blew him off and has hidden from Alex. Life gets in the way, and Alex finds he’s still in love with her. Maybe, her coming back in his life is a positive sign. But knowing Megan, the road to convincing her to give them a chance will be tough.
Samantha Chase has created another amazing feel good title. It’s sexy, hot, and engaging as hell. I loved it! I could not stop reading it. I was held in suspense as to what would occur between Alex and Megan. They seemed perfect for each other yet…it was a constant tug of war. Samantha has placed a little bit of her awesome pug into this story! Maylene, is the beautiful yet sassy pug inside this heartfelt tale. I thought it was pretty cool to meet her as well. Overall, I highly recommend this contemporary novel to all readers.
I love the Montgomery family. This is work a holic Megan’s story about how she throws caution to the wind and reunites with her cousins friend. Adam is a swoony regular guy and almost too good to be true. I actually liked him more than her. The story dragged a little with Megan constantly doubting her feelings and actions to the point where I wanted to give her a “snap out of it” smack. Nonetheless a nice entry into this series.
I received a a copy from NetGalley.
Samantha Chase knows how to write a second chance romance. Megan and Alex had a chemistry that grabbed me and held me from page one until the very last page. Samantha Chase is a master at creating characters that are realistic and relateable. This is the 7th book in the Montgomery Brothers Series so if you’ve been following along with the family I’m sure you love the characters already.
If you like a second chance romance with a well developed set of characters and story-line this is the book for you.

Ruthie –
This is the seventh in the series – and if you are a Montgomery fan then you will definitely enjoy this book. As well as Megan getting her happily ever after, we also catch up with Zach and Summer… previous beneficiaries of William Montgomery’s matchmaking!
This time though, it is wife and sister-in-law who decide that they know how to find Megan a match… well really, they saw her with Alex at Zach’s wedding two years ago and started plotting. Little did they know that, in fact, the two of them recognised their attraction to each other. Sadly, work and the small matter of living 3,000 miles apart came between them, but now Megan has moved to Portland too.
Megan has put a lot of pressure on herself to succeed and prove her father wrong about her abilities and has become very focussed on her performance. Moving to Portland and working for Zach is an attempt to make some changes. She knows that she is likely to see Alex but has no idea whether he has forgiven her neglect of him.
As we discover, Alex is still harbouring some serious annoyance at her behaviour. He does not understand how she could put work before a relationship, but he cannot deny that he still cares for her. As he gets to know her, he realises just how her priorities are skewed by her beliefs about work. He also knows that she is the one, so he makes some compromises and is patient. Megan is a lovely person, just rather lost, so it is both fun and very moving watching the two of them fall in love with each other.
They both have to deal with issues, and I have to say that Alex’s relationship with Danny caused me to cry more than once. Beautifully written and so important to the whole story.
Another great match up – and surely Christian deserves his chance soon?

I’m sure you guys have heard the phrase ”brings out the best in each other” , well this phrase fits this story perfectly. That’s exactly what Megan and Alex did for each other. Such an easy story to get lost in. Very heartwarming and full of emotion. There is little to no angst in their journey which was refreshing. Yes, there’s a conflict and resolution, but it was just another day in the journey of a relationship. Just like it would be for you and me. Very relatable. I haven’t read all the books in this series, but this one ranks quite high in comparison to the ones I have read!
Another great read of the Montgomery clan!! I love Megan and Alex’s story of their romantic start and finding their way back to one another.
This sweet second chance story was a delight to read. I loved how Alex and Megan never stopped thinking of one another but thought that the other had moved on without second thought.. Samantha does an amazing job with her writing and describing how hard it can be for someone to have a social life let alone a dating life when u pick ur job over others that u say mean or meant something. Megan moves across the country in hopes of changing that part of her life.
Megan Montgomery and Alex Rebat met each other at Zach Montgomery’s wedding and spent a passionate weekend in a Portland, Oregon hotel suite. Alex and Megan kept in touch for a few months but, things didn’t work out. It was hard for them to maintain a relationship as Megan lived in New York and had an overwhelming work schedule. I loved that both Megan and Alex had a strong connection with each other after two years. Samantha Chase took a chance on this couple’s backstory—and it worked! I came to love this couple and read their story in one sitting.
I adored Alex Rebat in I’ll Be There and was thrilled that Ms. Chase had written his story. As Zach’s physical therapist, Alex had a pivotal role in Zach’s recovery. Loved that Megan described Alex as “a force of nature.” Alex is a kind, caring, confident man who is always there for his friends and family. Megan Montgomery is a workaholic who is more comfortable in yoga pants, big sweaters and t-shirts. She has moved cross country to take an IT job with Montgomery Industries and is staying with her cousin Zach and his wife.
I was not sure how this story was going to play out. Was it going to be hook up novel?
Until There Was Us is a so much more—it’s a story of how love brings out the best in people. At first, Megan did not appear to be a warm, fuzzy person it took me a few chapters to understand her. I wondered if she was the right one for Alex. Neither Megan nor Alex is perfect and this made the story work for me.
It’s clear that Alex loves Megan with all of his heart. The chemistry between Alex and Megan is apparent when they talk to each other at Zach’s home. Their journey and the struggles they encounter unfold with each chapter of the book. Both characters grow in the story. Alex is patient with Megan as she gains confidence in herself, her job and in their relationship.
Alex is one of my favorite Samantha Chase heroes. He is kind to his patients, a good friend to Zach and listens to Megan and does not push or judge her. Zach, Gabriella, Summer, Ethan and their babies add a dose of reality, friendship and humor to the story. There are lots of references to William Montgomery and his matchmaking skills in but, in my opinion it’s Summer’s sassy pug Maylene who works her magic and brings our couple together! The last few chapters of Until There Was Us are perfectly written; the story flowed effortlessly, the writing was crisp and dialogue was emotional. Megan makes a heartfelt decision and conquers several personal issues when she steps up to do something for Alex.
It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone – to take a leap of faith, close your eyes and hope for the best. Samantha Chase took a leap of faith in Until There Was Us by pairing an unlikely couple and offering them a second chance. I adored this well- plotted story and reconnecting with all of the Montgomerys!
Love it and the series! Read it!
I wanted to love this one. I read books 1-3 in this series and then jumped to this one. I had a hard time with it. Where the series started out strong with the Montgomery brothers, it should have stayed just that. Where I liked the idea of William being the family matchmaker the series no longer fits when you bring in cousins and such. Anyway moving on. The first half was slow to me, I am shocked at how long it took me to read this. Ok, ok to some 6 days doesn’t seem like long but when I can knock them out in 2 or 3 days usually this one took double that. I kept losing interest. I will eventually go back and read books 4-6 since I purchased them, but I am in no rush. Sorry!
love this book
Until There Was Us is a reminder to slow down and enjoy life. That is a heavy statement for a contemporary romance book but that is my biggest take away. Alex and Megan meet at her cousin’s wedding and they wind up spending a whirl wind weekend together and decide to take it further. What happens is work gets in her way and they decide living on opposite sides of the country is too much. They get their second chance when she moves to work for her cousin not only on the same side of the country as Alex but in the same city. Since Alex is good friends with her cousin they will see alot of each other.
Alex is a physical therapist. And he’s a great one. He first met Zach, Megan’s cousin while being his therapist. He helped Zach when no one else would. Zach wasn’t the ideal patient. And he has helped numerous other clients as well. The first client of his, he hasn’t given up on because Danny is his best friend. Been that way since childhood. Alex was there at the time of Danny’s accident and feels to blame for not stopping it. He shoulders all of the guilt but continues to be up beat when he visits Danny.
Megan is a workaholic. She has two brothers, two uncles and her father that are all in the family business. She viewed her role as not as important as all the men in the business. Shes out to prove to her father that shes just as valuable as the rest. She works herself day and night to do that. Until Alex.
When they first see each other after two years, they aren’t sure where they stand. Talking helps and Alex knows what he wants, her. And he’s willing to wait for her. Megan is not willing to disappoint Alex again. So she agrees to friendship. He plays tour guide and they get to know each other again.
So the lesson that I spoke about to begin with, Danny has a broken neck He’s paralyzed from the neck down. He is the one who tells Alex to not wait to get what he wants. Alex is the easy going one of this book. He always has the good advice and patience. Danny knows about the guilt and he knows it was not Alex’s fault. Danny is the one who has the wisdom for us all. Tomorrow may never come. Do what’s in your heart and let the people who you love know about it. Megan never meets Danny but she figures this out on her own. Her job is just a job. Even though it’s the family business. Alex is the most important thing in her life. She been wasting it behind a desk for too long. I admit that again Samantha Chase made me cry. The lesson is a hard learned one for both Alex and Megan. To see a grown man get so emotional to the point of tears is beyond my ability to stay neutral. Then to see the woman he loves support him and take care of him is …everything.
great book
