I have read other books by Samantha Chase but this is my first in the Montgomery Brothers Series and as this is book 7 you can see from my star rating it certainly can be read as a stand-alone although I will definitely be going back to read books 1 through 6.
Megan and Alex met at her cousins wedding but she lived in NYC and even though they tried a long distance relationship, it wasn’t meant to be because Alex had to contend with Megan being a workaholic as well as the distance. Megan grew up with a father who believed work came before family and it’s all she knows but when she takes a job working for her cousin Alex is determined to show her she needs a life and it is possible to balance work and play……
I love second chance romance but it’s even better when it based in a small town with real family and friends loyalty, this book had me feeling like I was visiting friends and considering I haven’t read the previous books that should tell you just how talented Samantha Chase is. Looking forward to playing catch-up with the rest of this series .
To say that Megan’s personal life is lacking is a complete understatement, she can’t remember the last time she had a date, nor taken an interest in pursuing one. Everything in her life revolves around her work, she works her tail off to not only prove she can hold her own, but to also prove to her father that she can do her job just as well as her brothers. It’s a constant battle of not feeling like she measures up to her brothers, and working herself into complete exhaustion to try see the same approval in her father’s eye when her brothers do a job well done. But after learning from one of her brothers what life is like working for her father she begins to realize that isn’t a life she really wants for herself, his constant meddling in her personal would be horrifying, so she decides shift her focus in another direction, on a job working for her cousin. Not only is it a chance to be on her own and spread her wings, but it’s also a chance to work on finding love too…because the man who blew her mind two years ago just so happens to be friends with her cousin, and lives in the same town.
Alex Rabat constantly wonders what it would be like if he’d tried a little harder two years ago to hold onto what he found with Megan, although they only shared one night, it was a very memorable one. One that he thinks about all the time, which is probably why he is still single, it’s hard to find a woman when your thinking of another all the time. So, when he learns that her cousin has convinced her to leave her job and life behind to join him at his company he is thrilled at the opportunity to reunite. But once she gets to town she continues to try and give him the slip, but he doesn’t intend to let it continue for too long… eventually he will get the upper hand!
Until There Was Us is a beautifully crafted tale rich with heartfelt emotion, drama, and steamy sexy times that is certain to leave your toes curled and heart overflowing!! It has been sometime since I have read a book by this author, and I am totally kicking myself from staying away so long, I loved this story so darn much! Megan Montgomery and Alex Rebat’s story is great. Megan the workaholic and Alex the dedicated physical Therapist and all round good guy. They had a wild weekend together at her cousins wedding and then they tried to make the coast to coast thing work but it didn’t. Two years later Megan moves to the west coast to work for her cousin Zach. She knows she’ll have to see Alex again sooner or later she just wasn’t ready for the sooner and the wicked attraction still being there.
Another great Montgomery book from Samantha Chase! Great characters, great tying the whole Mongomery family together. This book was a long time coming and totally worth the wait.
Love! Love! Love! I loved reading Until There was Us by Samantha Chase book in her Montgomery Brothers series. Megan Montgomery and Alex Rabat met while attending a wedding and the sparks flew between them. Megan was always cautious and she had thoughtfully planned out her life which did not include a relationship. Yet that didn’t stop her from thinking about him for the next two years. When Megan accepts a job at her cousin’s company across the country, she does everything she can to avoid Alex, knowing he’ll shake up her carefully crafted world. Alex had a great life, loving his job and friends, but like Megan hadn’t been able to stop thinking about their passionate encounter. Once Alex discovers Megan has moved to town, he set out, making it his goal to show her that maybe it’s time to take a few more risks.
I loved seeing Megan become more comfortable taking risks, being spontaneous, and living life to its fullest as she spent more time with Alex. He helped her come into her own person and learn to stand up for herself. Alex might appear perfect, knowing the answers and following the correct paths but that was far from the truth. Alex was sensitive and compassionate and a wonderful sounding board for Megan and his patients but he struggled with his own inability to help everyone. With Megan’s help, Alex learns to accept his limitations and be satisfied with who he is and what he can accomplish.
Ms. Chase is an amazing story teller, making me feel as if I was right there watching the action unfold as she drew me in, making me forget the world around me. I struggled with putting this book down. I truly hope Ms. Chase will write books giving Megan’s two brothers their own happy ever after. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
When does matchmaking become a family affair? Every Samantha Chase fan, knows the surname Montgomery is synonymous with romance. The Montgomery brood can make a reader fall heart first for their special brand of wooing. Until There Was Us turns an introverted klutz into a irresistible swan. Megan is the Montgomery that never quite fit in. She’s smart, clumsy and prefers to blend into the crowd. Once upon a time, she was content to just exist. Until with one look, he showed her how to live. Alex and Megan speak to the insecurities that we all have, but are afraid to acknowledge. Fear is finding the courage to take a risk, despite the outcome.
I adored this book! This is a touching, funny, emotional, & romantic story.
It’s a well-written book with memorable and relatable characters.
While at her cousin’s wedding, Megan
is asked to dance, by a very handsome man. Usually, she is very cautious,
but she told herself, why not.
Alex, is good friends with the groom.
He was instantly attracted to Megan.
Megan & Alex, had spent a romantic
weekend together. They tried to see
each other after, but Megan lives in
New York, & Alex in Portland.
Jump ahead two years ~
Megan is moving to Portland, & starting a new job. She has never stopped thinking about Alex. Zach, Megan’s cousin, mentions to him that Megan is moving here. Alex is very happy to hear this, because he’s never gotten over her. When Megan & Alex finally see each other, the feelings are there, but it’s awkward between them.
Now that Megan & Alex finally have the chance to get to know each other, will they find a way to make it work,
even after all this time?
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!
I loved this story!! Megan & Alex had a chance at a relationship. The emotion & attraction were there. They planned a getaway but Megan didn’t show. She put her job & her need for her father’s approval ahead of any relationship they might have had. Fast forward several years & Megan was moving to take a job with her cousin., Zach. Now that they are in the same town, is the attraction still there? Can Megan develop a life outside of work or will the guilt cause her to cave?
This story grabbed my attention right from the first line. I loved how the interactions between Alex, Megan & the rest of the family framed the attitude & experiences that make up the story. This story emphasized the family connection & support extended whether a family member by blood or by acceptance. The interactions between Alex & Danny illustrated Alex’s strength & compassion & was an emotional part of the story. The writer has a gift for making sure the readers feel as much emotion as she can. I laughed. I cried. I loved. If you want to read a beautiful tender romance with lots of emotion & affection, you can’t pass this one up!
