Tequila: a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant and, in Mary’s case, a truth serum. It took one night. No, it took one dinner, a bevy of cocktails, and a woman who’s been skirting me for months. Then, everything changed. Because the tequila did what it does best, Mary’s words flowed faster than the magic liquid she was shooting with salt and lime.Mary had demons—ones she thought were … she thought were buried. She thought wrong.
She can’t hide from her past or from me. Not anymore.
I’m Evan Hargrove and I’ll turn the world red before I let anything happen to her.
This is a Killers Series Crossover Novella written for the Happily Ever Alpha World of NYT Bestselling Author, Aurora Rose Reynolds.

Persistence Prevails … Love Takes Root
In Byrnne Asher’s contribution to the 2019 Happily Ever Alpha Word, Evan and Mary’s story is raw, real, and relatable. A lifetime of let-downs has left Mary world weary and leary of all Evan seems to represent; first as an ideal and then as a persistent suitor. After a tequila filled night of spilled truths, Evan commits to pursuing a forever relationship with a very resistant Mary. Never one to back down from what he wants, Evan is relentless in fighting for their future making for a push-pull storyline that will have you reading to find out what happens next. Wonderful characters with a history of family heartache find their HEA in Until the Tequila. The connections to the characters in the Until Her Series by Aurora Rose Reynolds as well as those to characters from Brynne Asher’s Killers novels make this book an entertaining and engaging story that allows readers to fall in love with new characters while revisiting those they have previously come to know and love.
I’ve been looking forward to Evan and Mary’s story since I read Vines…and I’m so happy to have gotten it in Until the Tequila! It was exactly what I wanted for these two.
Mary has her reasons for keeping Evan at arms length. Evan is not giving up on Mary, he knows that once she gives in they will be explosive together. All that changed and one night Mary, with the help of a bit of tequila, let Evan in and shared some secrets with him. Now, Evan knows just how Mary feels, but why does she still insist on avoiding him? Is there something else that Mary is running from?
One of my favorite things about these crossovers, is getting the taste of a new to me author. This was a good story, with loads of drama, really good naughty bits, and a bit of danger. Very entertaining read, and I now have a new series to explore. I give this 4 stars.
Oh my gosh! This story has everything! It’s the full deal in a small package as only Brynne Asher can do it.
Mary’s life was not pleasant. Her history is dark and lonely, filled with experiences a child should never have to witness. She longed for the time when she could find freedom. Living with low expectations, she is always the outsider until Evan Charles Hargrove III changes everything.
”He’s more all-American than the boy next door, the Fourth of July, and red solo cups all rolled into one.”
“I’ve cancelled his appointment five times because I don’t think I could handle having him in my chair, let alone touching him. I’d end up strangling him or having a mini-orgasm and either would be bad for business.”
Despite the darkness in his own past, Evan has made his own way and is content with where he is in life. Always trying to get a reaction from Mary, he flirts and touches and does whatever he can to make her respond to him. She has shot him down time after time for a date but when he finally wears her down, the last thing he expected was a night of tequila and a whole new set of questions about Mary.
”I thought I wanted her before last night. I had no f@cking clue. But today? Today, I need her in a way I can feel in every cell of my body. The petite girl with the mermaid hair who used to make me smile, now makes me ache.”
I absolutely loved Mary and Evan. Mary didn’t think she was broken, but she very much was, and Evan recognized it and set out to put her back together. She is a strong heroine, edgy and borderline wild child, but with a heart of gold. Fighting her attraction for Evan, she made me laugh as she came up with one lie after another during his periods of persistence. I loved that he never gave up. He was determined to get the girl and nothing was going to change his mind. But after the tequila, his determination is ramped even higher even as his protective instincts kick in.
This couple were absolutely perfect together! I adored the humor that highlighted their relationship and the sincerity that colored Evan’s actions to win Mary. This never drags and the internal monologues were just as moving and enriching as the dialogue between them. The chemistry is definitely felt throughout every interaction and holy heck does it get absolutely steamy! For a novella this felt like a full book except that I still wanted more when it was over.
I can’t recommend this one enough to anyone who loves a sassy heroine, a dedicated hero, some drama to cause your heart to race, and an epilogue that’s going to make you choke up from all the goodness contained within.
Omg! I’ve still got tears in my eyes. Ms Asher has a way with her books that often leaves me in tears. Mary and Evan was an emotional and inspiring read. My heart broke for Mary, yet she soldiered on never believing she’d get her own BOOM or hea. Evan, took one look at Mary and he was Gone… he knew from the beginning she was his world and he set out to protect and love her all the while breaking down her defences. This story had everything from drama and suspense to all encompassing love. Throw in our favourite characters not only from the Vines series and also some of ARR characters and you have an awesome book. I couldn’t put this down once I started and now I have a book hangover lol. Awesome book. Can’t wait for more from the The Vines series either.
I have waited for Evan and Mary’s story for what felt like eons, and Brynne Asher did not disappoint. I had no idea Evan had all that hot, alpha, yumminess in there. Mary is one lucky heroine!
Great!
I really enjoyed this novella. It is a complete story with plenty of heat, suspense, a bit of humor, and love. I know it is a spin off of the Killers series which I have not read yet but I am definitely interested in now. I read it in one sitting and now feel a little obsessed. I really liked that the Alpha in Evan did not prevent him from also being a caring good nice guy. This was my first Brynne Asher book and it wont be my last.
This was sexy and fun with lots of action and a bit of suspense. I’ve been waiting for this story and it was perfect!
Evan Hargrove has wanted a chance with Mary since he met her but she has always rebuffed his efforts. When he does get her to finally agree the night ends with a few confessions and a lot of tequila where Mary is concerned. Evan plans to get in and protect Mary but when the old threat she ran from comes back what will Mary do?
I was curious about Mary and Evan’s story since they were introduced and this did not disappoint. This was entertaining and I was surprised by Mary’s back story. Another great addition to the Until series.
We initially meet Evan and Mary in the Killers novels and now we finally get their story. Evan was a steady rock that provided Mary with what she was afraid to even hope for. Mary’s story broke my heart and made me root for her to get her happily ever after. I typically avoid novellas because so many authors, in my opinion, cannot draw me in with such a short story. Until the Tequila had me hooked from the first page and was Brynne was able to provide a well-written, well-developed story in a short amount of pages. Highly recommend this book and this author!
Great Novella! I loved getting to read Evan and Mary’s story. I liked them together back when they were introduced in Brynne’s Killers series, so I was really excited we were getting a novella over them. Great chemistry, some good suspense and a quick read! The epilogue is absolutely adorable as well.
Title: Until the Tequila: Happily Ever Alpha World
Author: Brynne Asher
Publication Date: April 16, 2019
I’m usually not into a lot of internal dialogue, which the first chapter is comprised of, but within five minutes I was hooked.
Good flow with a H and h that I connected with right away. She has some drama from her past but it doesn’t take over the story or take away from it; it just helps you understand why she is who she is.
I enjoyed this book so much I just one clicked Vines by this author.
I really enjoyed this crossover novella from the Killers series. To be honest, it’s been a while since I read that series and didn’t really remember Mary and Evan so if you haven’t read the Killers, you can still read this one just fine on its own. Brynne Asher once again brought the heat, suspense, and feels that I’ve come to love about her writing. Evan is a protective alpha hero and Mary is sweet and sassy heroine. They dance around each other “Until the Tequila” and then things heat up quick. So good! Can’t wait to see what Brynne Asher has in store next!
If you have read Brynne Ashers books you will instantly recognise this couple. I was damn amazing getting their story because I’m sure there are plenty of you that were dying for it as well.
The tie between Aurora’s World and this book was such an easy flow.
This book was beautiful and so so heartwarming. It was Oh So hot and swoony.
If you a Brynne Fan you gonna FLOVE this book…
If your a favourite of the Until series you’ll enjoy this book as it stays faithful to the formula of those books. I love when the man has to do all the running. Evan is tireless in his pursuit of Mart and it was fun to read. This was a fun story to read with great characters.
*bounce* Mary & Evan have been weaving their way into our hearts throughout the Killers series, and it was great to get their full story! Weaving in the Mayons just made it that much better!
This is steamy & sweet w/ a touch of danger & a whole lotta swoony goodness!! : )
Great little novella! If you’ve been following this authors ‘Killers’ series then you will recognize the characters of Evan and Mary from them and will know that they’ve been skirting around their attraction for some time… With this short story we find out just what happened between the two of them and get a little mystery of their own. Even though this was a shorter story it definitely didn’t disappoint and will leave you with a smile on your face. Great little bundle of goodness and I was SO happy to finally see what was going on between these two.
Although this CAN be read as a standalone, I definitely recommend that you read the ‘Killers’ series from book 1 for the most enjoyment of the secondary characters!
So of course before I start my review I have to say thank you to Brynne Asher. Not only for the chance at receiving an ARC, but for amazing enough to be my very first “minterview” on my Feature Friday(go check it out)! I’ll admit I was nervous to ask, but you made me feel right at home and was super nice! For that you’ll forever be dope to me and you’ll have a fangirl for life!!!
Now, on to the good stuff …
I have been waiting for this story for I don’t even know how long! Oh wait, yes I do, ever since these characters were introduced and they started to show interest and annoy each other in Brynne’s Killers Series. Mary and Evan have been a long time coming, so it’s perfect that they got a chance to spark the flame or rather ignite their BOOM!!!
Mary has been running for a long time. From her past, from her present and especially from the smooth talking wine tasting manager at her friend Addy’s vineyard. Hiding behind bright hair and a sharp tongue, she’s hoping he will steer clear because the last thing she needs is to be tangled up with someone like him. And not for his sake either.
Evan sees right through her. He knows she gives him sass and attitude to keep him at bay, but he’s waited around for too long to claim what he knows is his. Finally deciding to not give her a choice, he takes her out so they have a chance to get to know each other. Every thing is going great, until Mary gets nervous, until the wine starts flowing, until the tequila.
I loved, loved, loved everything about Mary and Evan! I’ve been invested in them since the Killers Series and I’m happy to see Evan finally get his mermaid girl. I loved watching him turn the feisty and dominant lioness into a purring little pussycat—sexual innuendo implied. If you’ve followed their characters, you’ve seen how hard Mary has tried and accomplished avoiding anything and everything having to do with Evan. But I’m happy Evan took the option right out of her hand and became the alpha she didn’t know she needed, but always wanted.
I was a little surprised by Evan honestly, because who knew the charming wine taster, had this alter ego dominant side. The lift you up by the ass, wrap your legs around my waist and screw you into oblivion kind of dominant. I wasn’t prepared for that side of Evan, but I was here for it. Mary definitely wasn’t ready for it and was still trying to avoid it, but I’m happy she decided to give in and realize she deserved some happy in her life.
Every book by Brynne gets better and better and Until the Tequila was above my expectations and totally worthy of the Until Series. Evan and Mary’s story was dramatic in the best of ways and without being whiny and magical without being whimsical, if that makes any sense. It was alluring, it was exciting and I couldn’t put it down from the moment I read, Hangover. My favorite killers came to visit, Crew, Grady and Asa as did the always awesome Addy. And I got some July and Wes Silver in my life, so I couldn’t ask for more. Not sure if you’ve grabbed a copy yet, but if you haven’t, wait are you waiting for? Seriously, do it NOW!!!
You don’t wanna miss when the fiery mermaid meets the charming dominant, because they certainly create the ultimate BOOM!!!

Gotta confess… I am a big fan of this author’s Killers series. Each and every one. I was beyond excited to read this novella which is also a crossover for the Happily Ever Alpha World of Aurora Rose Reynolds Until series. Our main characters are Mary and Evan both of whom appeared in earlier Killers books. While attracted to Evan, Mary holds him at arm’s length. She has mega baggage whose origins are revealed as the story progresses. A night of one too many tequila shots and a few of Mary’s secrets spill to Evan. Evan….. who has always wanted Mary and now really wants her. But Mary is a bit complicated as Evan discovers. A somewhat bumpy road to their HEA, but Evan is persistent and Mary is vulnerable underneath her tough exterior. And when her past comes back to haunt her….. Evan is right by her side. This is a sweet, hot, quick read. I loved these characters and got a kick out of appearances by Killers favorites and a couple of Until series characters. The epilogue was touching and a perfect finale for these two. Another winner for Brynne Asher. Loved it!
Until the Tequila: A Killers Crossover Novella is another winner by Brynne Asher. I have read all her books and although this is a novella and on the shorter side, its just as rich and well developed as one of her full length novels. Mary and Evan are combustible in all the best ways and I loved seeing other characters from Brynne’s Killers novels.
This is a solid 5 star treat that leaves you wanting more from both the Killers series and Aurora Rose Reynold’s Until series. Grab a copy and a glass of wine and Enjoy!
