When a scandal threatens to bring dishonour upon her family name, Heather Bailey doesn’t hesitate for a second. She will not allow her sister to fall prey to a loveless marriage and she is willing to sacrifice herself to a man she absolutely detests. If only her charming looks and vivid personality wouldn’t be put to waste on a scornful baron that looks down upon commoners like herself… But is … is the restoration of her family honour really all that awaits Heather or will this just be the beginning of more than she could ever dream of?
Lord Adam Waterford is on the verge of losing his valuable position in aristocracy, after tragically losing his fortune, and can’t bear the thought of his dear family ending up in a poorhouse. It will take everything he has to ensure the maintenance of his family status, even setting his pride aside and marrying a woman beneath his station that he has no interest in. He expects nothing of her and yet her sophistication and clever wit will catch him off guard. Quickly enough he will find it unbelievably hard to keep up with his usual contemptuous attitude. As if this wasn’t enough, he will also unexpectedly find himself completely entranced by this woman’s captivating presence. Is it really possible to overcome his own deeply rooted prejudice and find love in the unexpected?
Heather and Adam come from dreadfully different classes and are an unorthodox match that wouldn’t exist in the first place weren’t for the unexpected hurdles of their families. The beginning of their story is not at all promising and they can’t help but brace themselves for the disappointment they think their lives are going to be. However, all it takes for this gloomy expectation to vanish is one true look at each other’s souls… This is easier said than done though, as their vision is blurred by their preconceived assumptions and only by listening to their hearts, they will see the truth. Could a true captivating romance be discovered in such an unfortunate match? Or will the difference of their worlds tear their blossoming feelings apart?

Two people who have problems with their families and can only solve it with marrying each other. Only thing is he thinks she is beneath him socially. She thinks he is too stuffy. But with time passing they find out they have a lot in common and love comes. I loved it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
WOW… An energetic reading. The H was one step from the poor house and was reluctant to marry for money. He felt as a Baron he was a cut above the rest of the common world and looked down upon those below his class. His best friend talked him into meeting two lovely young ladies. They were daughters of a very wealthy merchant. He could not hide his disdain. But to save his family from poverty he had no choice. He was old fashioned when it came to what women could and could not do and that immediately caused an argument between him and the h. After they married (the h under duress) they had a lot to overcome. The h was a brilliant math genius and was interested in geography, science and so on. Which was frown on by society. But her father gave her full reign over his books and shipping business growing up. Her new husband would not hear of her touching his books. Like I said, a lot to overcome. Plus, the mother-in-law loathed her being a commoner and was ungrateful for how her father bailed them out of debt and renovated their London home. They did not get along. As time went on the h/H grew to know each other better and began to appreciate each other. But then things got out of hand again with the mother-in-law and the h/H had to go through drastic measures if they hoped to resolve it. I would have given this a five-star rating but there were some questions and observations that were not addressed. For one the twins did not like the H’s best friend but it was never revealed why. Also, when the H’s faithful servant was dismissed on charges of theft, it took too long for the H to deal with it properly and get to the bottom of it. Also, the H’s superiority subtlety changed but I thought the author ought to have handed him a lesson or two to open his eyes and see he was prejudice and acting like a jerk. But he really did not have any trouble transitioning at all. I feel that was a lost opportunity for the author. And for another thing the mother-in-law never had an epiphany for all the derogatory things she said to the h and regretted it. It was like poof she was changed. I believe the overall concept of the story is wonderful but the story itself can be improved on. However I enjoyed it just the same.
The groom didn’t want either bride
Lord Adam Richardson, the Baron of Waterford, has inherited his father’s debts. His mother and twin brothers depend on him to keep his family out of debtors prison. Gambling isn’t getting it done, and he is one game shy of being penniless.
His friend Lord Malahide, Mason, suggests he marry a wealthy shipping merchant’s daughter. The dowery will be enough to set his household to rights once again.
Unfortunately, Miss Heather Bailey and Miss Jasmine Bailey do not meet Waterford’s high standards when he meets them in a ballroom. Upon initial contact, the girls’ parents, Bert and Violet Bailey have not impressed him much either.
He cannot refuse to wed the younger girl when Mr. Bailey agrees to the match.
The two men strike a deal. Too bad, Jasmine has fallen in love with Navel Officer David Lloyd and has turned into a watering pot.
Heather, the oldest sister, is a stubborn forward-thinking young woman with a head for numbers; she keeps the books for her father. She cannot miss the chance to take Waterford down a peg or two when he insults her family.
What happens when the bride-to-be skips, then her sister take her place? Will the reluctant bride and the duped groom ever find common ground.
