Everything I thought he wanted was a lie… I kept loving Holden Montgomery, even after he walked away, shattering my heart into a million pieces. Now after four years, he’s back on my doorstep… pleading for forgiveness and my hand in marriage. He asked for time and I vowed to try, but now he was half a world away, deployed with the Marines. Tragedy strikes, causing Holden to return to me half … Marines.
Tragedy strikes, causing Holden to return to me half the man he was before. Now I’ll have to decide if it’s worth risking my heart for a second time, or if our chance at happiness has passed.
Unsteady in Love is a stand-alone in the Fairlane series. The series has crossover characters from each novel. It is not required to read the books in order, but it is recommended to enhance the reading experience.

This was an interesting one. I loved the storyline with Prue and Holden. Some very touching moments between these two. Holden and Prue should have had forever. But that was taken from them. She suffers something tragic and he comes back into her life. But shortly after he is deployed. Will they get their happy ever after it will it be taken from them? I loved Prue. I loved her strengthen and stubborness. I love the relationship between Holden and Prue. Reading the emails they exchanged had me in tears. Just feeling what they were feeling. A great story with some great characters.
Prue doesn’t know how to deal with her life right now. Walking out of the church, on the day of her father’s funeral, she walks to her car and sees the man who broke her heart. More than three years have passed since the day Holden ghosted Prue and she never wanted to see him again. She drives away from him hoping that he will give up and go away. When he begs for forgiveness, she wants to refuse. When he sees the financial trouble she is in, he insists on getting married before he has to leave. How can they possibly end up happily ever after when Prue has no intention of letting him into her heart again?
This was so darn good, I couldn’t put it down. Prue has every right to be stone cold angry and hurt at Holden. He admits full responsibility for his actions and genuinely begs her forgiveness, but time is short. He has to leave and their communication via letters, emails and Facetime give Prue time to work through her anger and I loved it! Seeing these two get back what should have never been destroyed was sweet. That is why second chance romances are one of my favorite trope. I do hope we get more Fairlane books in the future. 4.5 stars for Unsteady in Love!
Four years ago, Holden Montgomery ghosted on his girlfriend of three years, Prue right after graduation.
Now he’s back and Prue made him work for ut a bit. His excuse was pretty lame. He should have talked to her and called her and kept in touch.
Now he’s back, wanting her back immediately after the death of her father.
He proposes he marries her to get his inheritance and she can pay her father’s medical bills.
She agrees and he leaves again.
This time, he writes to her, then emails and then Skypes. They get to know each other all over again and that part is very sweet.
More drama and a lost limb.
At first I wasn’t into Holden and was put off, but it got immensely better through their letters.
Recommend.

Holden broke Prue’s heart when he left after graduation without a word. Almost four years later he is back in her life and wants to marry her. Can Prue trust him again or will he left her behind again? A forever love. Great as audiobook
What a beautiful romance read / listen that will transform you into the world of our main characters Holden and Prue. These characters show us what strength and determination are all about! Childhood sweethearts who were torn apart only to find each other again and face more trials. Will these two find their HEA in a world that seems set on keeping them apart? This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster with heart warming highs and heartbreaking lows – laughter and tears are a given but Holden is such a proud man and I can’t help but love him and Prue is fierce, protective of her heart and those she loves – she’s awesome! I love how the author includes us in their relationship – you almost feel like one of their best friends and want to be there and help guide them. A beautiful, wonderful romance I could listen to again and again – great narration – just overall fantastic!

My connection with these characters is so strong that I felt like I was watching scenes from a movie play out in my head. If you love a good second chance romance for two characters who deserve to find love, and learn to live again you will love the message behind this book. These characters together were so beautiful. Passionate. Real. This book is exactly why I love reading and why reading is a beautiful escape for me. I could not read it fast enough, but savored every word at the same time.
Unsteady in Love (Fairlane #3) was a good read by Harlow Layne. This book is Prue and Holden’s second chance at love. Four years ago Holden broke Prue’s heart by leaving and going the military. He’s now her doorstep asking for her forgiveness and her hand in marriage. She decides to marry him but isn’t sure if she can forgive him, but it may be easier with him around the world. Unfortunately tragedy strikes and he tries pushing her away. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
This is truly a stand alone, as this is the first in the series that I have read, and I did not feel like I missed anything, Prue and Holden were high school sweethearts, torn apart. Holden returns to right his wrong and once again, they are separated. Their love must withstand two separations and a tragedy. Harlow Layne truly test their love every chance she gets. This was a heartwarming story about two people who are truly soulmates and will do anything to be with the other. This book is filled with all the feels and will take you on an intense emotional rollercoaster ride. I loved everything about this story and I could not stop listening.
Lia Holland is amazing. I enjoy her narration and this story is just as wonderful. She has an easy to listen to voice and a great narrating speed. Lia easily keeps the characters distinct and easy to follow. Lia brought this story to life through her narration. She was able to bring out the tough struggles and emotions that the characters had to face. I look forward to hearing more from her.
My emotions were absolutely every where. Loved this story, highly recommend
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and it was an okay read. The one thing that was missing from this story for me was the chemistry between Prue and Holden. I guess as much as the author had hope readers would feel some type of chemistry between them because of the past they shared and their present interaction I just didn’t. I didn’t feel it at all. There was just too much back and forth between them, especially Holden. One minute he was claiming he would never hurt her and let her go again and the next minute he was pushing her away. However, as much as I didn’t care for some of the characters actions, they were likable characters and the flow of the story was good. If the chemistry between the Prue and Holden were more believable I would have enjoyed this story a lot more. The ending was sweet and it wasn’t a terrible read, so I would give another book from this author a try.
Unsteady in Love is a second chance to love and military romance. Prue and Holden’s story is sweet and beautiful. Prue is a beautiful woman, really supportive. Holden is a handsome and strong man. I love the friendship in this story. The storyline is filled with twists and turns, and ups and downs. I love the ending. Lia Holland did a great job with the narration. #AudiobookObsession
This was the first narration i’ve heard from Lia Holland, but she does an amazing job, the emotions pours out of her and you feel everything so much more. I love Harlow Layne books, and this was one of her best. It is raw and heartbreaking, Everything that Holden and Prue (especially Prue) go through to make it. Can’t say how much I loved this book and performance.

Slow burn at its finest!
I love this book. The emotions I felt through the whole book are what I love about reading. If and author can make me feel such polarizing emotions through out the book I know they are amazing. This one almost had me in tears which is a feat all on it’s own. Holden is amazing, he kind hearted and completely frustrating. He tries to make decisions for prue because he thinks he knows best. Prue is a broken soul who lost her father and the love of her life, until her father’s funeral when he comes barreling back into her life. And he comes with a proposition, will she accept? And will they be able to love again?
Wow wasn’t sure what to expect from a different couple but wow. This book ripped my heart out more than the others. Can’t say much without ruining it but definitely a must read with a box of tissues.
OMG I love loved this book. I had so many emotions while I was reading it. I laughed and I cried and I mean I cried because it hit home. I had a nephew who did three tours in Afghanistan and I was so worried about him. I prayed everyday for his troop and him and I prayed that they all came home safe and sound. So while I was reading so many memories came back to me and I cried like a baby.
Prue is doing everything she can to take care of her father and work but she has to quit her job to take care of her dying father. So when her father dies it feels like she has died to because she has no one but her friend. See she lost the love of her life after graduation. They had plans to be together and when it came time to be together Holden was no where to be found. He left town and left Prue with no way to reach him.
Holden has a great life or so he thought. His parents have other plans for him and he is not having it so he leaves his family and Prue behind to move on because he refuses to do what his parents want.
Years later Holden returns to get Prue back only to find that she moved away and hires a Private Eye to find her and when he does he goes to her but his return is bad timing because Prue is burying her father. But Holden is determined to tell her the truth and win her back. But will Prue listen to him and accept his apology and the truth? Will Holden be able to convince Prue to be his?
I wish I could unread this book so I could enjoy it again for the first time. It was just so good. I really enjoyed it so much. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading. It broke my heart in places but then put it back together again. I cant praise this story enough. Absolutely fantastic.
