My proper southern belle mama might disagree, but I say I was born to be a rebel. From the second I got my hands on a pair of drumsticks, my future was sealed. I never fit in anyway, not with my rocker soul and curves that never take a day off.But what’s a drummer without a band? Oh, that’s right. A cocktail waitress. That is, until the chance of a lifetime falls into my lap—Unrequited needs a … lifetime falls into my lap—Unrequited needs a drummer, and I happen to have an ‘in’ with the band.
The only trouble is, Santiago Garza, Unrequited’s broody, scowly bassist, doesn’t want me in his band, which is kind of funny, considering he was the one who took my heart and stomped all over it five years ago.
My career is far more important than hurt feelings though, so Santiago can suck it up and deal. That’s what I’m doing, no matter how many times I remember the feel of his lips on mine. I won’t fall for him this time. I’m done being anyone’s second choice.

I loved this story. Loved Maeve and Santiago. They had a past that didn’t end too well for them thanks to some misunderstandings and it was fun watching them work thorough those issues and get that second chance at romance. Great chemistry and the attraction between them that never left. I will be reading more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had a great time with this book. The characters are well developed and engaging and the chemistry between them through the pages made for a great reading time. The storyline flowed easily page to page.

I love Santi an Maeve’s story! They first met when Maeve was 18 years old but things ended poorly. When they reconnect to play in a band, Maeve’s walls are up and rightfully so. Santi had broken her heart once before, she was not about to let him do it again. Maeve is invited to try out for Santi’s groups band Unrequited as their drummer as there is a current vacancy due to Santi’s brother Diego taking an unexpected break from the band. Can Maeve forgive Santi and try again?
I loved Maeve. She had a sweet little southern girl thing going. Then she turned around and shocked people with her rock goddess, crazy-talent on the drums. I like that she wasn’t a typical heroine, but more should be like her. I love how the guys of Unrequited bowed down to her as not only a woman, but as a musician. I loved that she and Santi traveled the world searching for their second-chance.
I do not even know where to start there are so many things that I love about this book. Yes I have read all of Julia books so I thought I knew what I was going into – like every book before she proves me wrong. This book is so much more then it’s trope and covers so many things that hit u right in the heart and make u feel good.
Maeve is by far my favorite female. I am a GA girl so that further endures her to me. She is flawed and strong. Feminine and rough all in one package. Completely amazing!
I cannot say enough positive things about this book – I am not a words person so I am going to leave the writing to Julia because she is the master. If u don’t know – read this book and you will see.
Its just wonderful to have more rock star romance from Julia. I just loved this spin off from the Blue is the Color series featuring Maeve and Santiago.
Right from the beginning I became totally invested in Maeve’s character who owns her curvy figure with pride, she is so much more than her size. She is a totally badass Southern Belle who can turn on the southern charm when she wants to and pile on the sass when it is required. She is an incredible drummer who will blow most guys out of the water if she is given the chance. Her chance comes along when she is asked to audition for Mo’s band Unrequited. There is just one problem, her chance comes along with someone from her past called Santiago who left her heart in tatters five years ago. Can she overcome her past with Santiago for the chance to achieve her dream.
Again Julia gives us the chance to live with a rock band for a while and see what life is really life in the spotlight. Here are wonderful realistic main characters that you can get invested in especially the incredible Maeve. Santiago was a tough nut to crack at first as he seemed so bitter and hateful towards Mae even though he was the one who left her. Despite his dark edgy persona once I learned his backstory then I hoped for a happy ending for him and Maeve.
This was an allnighter as always with Julia’s books they are impossible to put down.
A second chance to be together.
This is the story of Maeve who is plus size but she’s proud of herself and knows she’s a great person! She’s also a world class drummer. Santiago and her have a past and when his band needs a drummer he does want her. But when they hear a drummer that they can hear but not see they want him but it’s her! They want her as she makes the music better. She wants to forget the past and he tries to also but it’s easier to say than do. The slow burn in going to turn into a flash fire as they get closer. Will they try being together again? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
this one is so sweet, i loved the chemistry between the main characters and how they try to avoid it, the story is beautifully written and you’ll feel part of it, the way the story develops and how all fall into place is perfect, is one of those books that you can’t put down and read it in one day, i highly recommend you read it as soon as you can.
Maeve is absolutely fantastic! I love her! I want to be her!!! This story is fantastic! Santiago is no Maeve but he is a really good guy. I loved the surrounding people and can’t wait for their stories also! I’m not sure anyone is going to out do Maeve though!
I was given an ARC copy for an honest review and I honestly believe everyone will love this book!
4 Best Stars!!
I’ve been looking forward to picking up Ms.Wolf’s work for quite some time and I’m glad I got the chance to with Unrequited! I didn’t want to put it down so I had to read it all at once. I loved how this story and it’s characters brought out my emotions. I really enjoyed this book!
From the frustrating moments to the ones got right at heart, Maeve and Santiago’s journey wasn’t an easy one but oh what a great one it was!
From her strength to her love for drumming, Maeve stole my heart! She was such an awesome character that I related to so much. Santiago was a mystery I couldn’t wait to dig deeper into. I really liked him!
I also loved what the music aspect and secondary characters brought to this story.
With Unrequited, Ms.Wolf has created a wonderful read that’ll hit you right in the chest! I can’t wait to pick up more of her books in the near future, especially Mo’s book Misconception!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
This book was absolute perfection. I loved the fact that it wasn’t the perfect woman just a normal woman that everyone can relate to. The characters were very likeable and easy to read about. The storyline was interesting and engaging. I absolutely loved it. I hope we get more of this bands stories.
Maeve is officially my idol, she has sass, speaks her mind and has an every day women body and is proud of it! I think this book works so well as we find out at the beginning that Maeve knows the band as well as Yael and the past is slowly revealed so you wonder what actually occurred between her and Santi as well as see them grow close and boy do you feel that tension between them (fans face). You’ve got the fun and laughs, sad and a little heartbreaking times, hope and dreams along with a second chance you can’t help but hope works out!
It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve read a good ol’ fashioned rocker romance and holy smokes did Julia Wolf give me that and then some with her brand new standalone, UNREQUITED.
Unrequited was a sexy, sweet, slow-burn, angsty rock star romance that was packed with alllllllll the feels for THE WHOLE BOOK and delivered a second chance romance that you simply won’t want to miss out on! Julia exceeded my every expectation I had when it came to Maeve and Santiago (that blurb already had me drooling…) and created an unforgettable, undeniable, unputdownable journey for them that I didnt want to end (fingers crossed for more in the future!).
These two…. ALL THE YESES! I love a rocky ride with this kind of romance. I love the grit, push and pull, back and forth, and they sooo gave it to me. Maeve was one badass, curvy chick that had all the good vibes early on and that gave me a total girl crush right from the start. I admired her drive and determination. Santi, shew boy!! He lit me on fire so many times while also making me shake my head in others. He was sooooo dang swoony and also sooo dang complicated and yet totally brought me to my knees in certain moments. But worth it by the end.
Julia Wolf rocked her freaking ass off in this book (just you wait til you read this one!!) and gave me one crazy gooood rock star romance that will definitely be hitting my re-read pile.
I highly recommend this book.
I was so excited for this book as Mo from Unrequited was introduced in Blue is the Color series. I’m hoping Mo’ book is coming soon. This was a great start to meet the boys of Unrequited. I love Santiago and Maeve. Their story wasn’t what I had expected and I love that. Maeve isn’t your girl next door type. She’s a Southern Belle who loves to rock. Santiago is your older smoking hot rock star. Their story is sad, bitter, longing, friendship, and love. Great book. I highly recommend it.
Rockstar Romance | Standalone
I haven’t read a rockstar romance in AGES, so it was nice to dip my toes back in the water with Unrequited by Julia Wolf. This is an empowering story and I think many women will relate with the heroine. I sure did, and it allowed me to really fall into the story. Julia Wolf is a new to me author and knowing that I think this was the perfect book to start with. I was able to sample her wonderful writing style and see how she weaves her stories through her characters. It’s always nice to find new author and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
If you’re interested in rockstar romances where a woman LEAD is a curvaceous and relatable character, then you won’t want to miss this one! I loved Maeve to pieces and even fell for the hero who quite easily stole my heart.
A good rock star book is always my jam but throw in a kick ass female rocker and you have a true winner. I loved Julia’s “Blue is the Color” series but this book might just have blow that series away. A total must read for anyone that loves rocker romances and strong females.
I’m so happy about this story giving us a badass drummer rockstar. Maeve is both beautiful, fierce, funny and inspiring but she’s also scarred by experience. It’s not preventing her from living her life to the max, even risking her heart once again. Even though trust doesn’t come easy. She’s a wonderful friend and I love the way the girls are supporting each other.
Santi has his own history being an older brother, protective of his little brother. He deserves every bad curse word the girls call him and then some for being the idiotic selfless guy who tries to fix everything for everyone but himself. He’s also the sweetest, honest and loving guy in the whole world. I’m sure of it. I’m absolutely in love with the man even though he’s not my type at all.
It’s the thing I love about this author, she’s capable of making you swoon and love her characters even though they are so very flawed. There’s so many new characters here and I can’t wait to get all their stories.
This heart-breaking romance encompassing unrequited love, rejection, second chances, and gritty rocks stars, takes one on a painful ride to hope and healing. Maeve fell hard for the older Santiago when she was eighteen. He is no less enamoured with the curvy Southern Belle but she is definitely not his type until he discovers her secretly practicing drumming. However, with his past and their age difference, Santiago knows he has to whatever it takes to dissuade her from falling for him when she declares her interest in him. A fallout with her parents takes Maeve on a journey across the country where she takes whatever job she can to pay the rent, whilst playing gigs as a drummer when she gets the chance. This once more brings her into Santiago’s orbit, but despite the old attraction flaring up once more, there has been too much time, history and hurt to pick up their relationship except as members of the same band. The story is gritty and somewhat painful as both Santiago, Maeve and the band members all deal with the circumstances in their lives. The book is well written, held my interest and I found myself becoming emotionally involved with the main characters. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Santiago and Maeve had a budding love of a lifetime when Santiago ruthlessly ripped it all away. Five years later Maeve is not the same naive 18 year old girl, she has grown into a badass who is trying to find her chance at living her dreams. Finding out Unrequited needs a drummer she finally has her chance. Just one problem Santiago is the bass player and he is not thrilled about her joining the band. These two have some past hurts to work out and walls to break down before they can try to move on to their future but not all is as easy as it seems and sometimes people make stupid mistakes thinking they are doing the right thing. This book was amazing and a great start to a new series. I can not wait to read the next book.

I enjoyed this novel. Unrequited is a rockstar romance that will captivate you from the start. The sexy older bassist and the curvy female drummer were both real and relatable and perfect for each other and you will love them. Their journey to love was lined with angst, drama, and steamy scenes and you will be consumed with their story. The addition of the cast of extended characters added excellent support and balance to the story. This was my first Julia Wolf novel and I enjoyed it. I would recommend this novel to all lovers of rockstar romance.
