Clay:My mind and body are full of chaos; the only time I can truly feel free is when my hands, arms, and legs are secured. Just because I want to be bound, able to give over my pleasure entirely to another person, doesn’t mean I want to be controlled, humiliated, or made to endure pain. I’m a successful, happy, confident adult man who wants a lover to tie him up. Why is that so scandalous? And … And why is it so difficult to find? It doesn’t help that I’ve developed a hopeless crush on my straight roommate. Maybe a fulfilling relationship isn’t in the cards for me.
Max:
I’m completely out of control of my life. My ex is trying to take my daughter away from me… again, my dream of owning my own motorcycle repair shop seems out of reach, and somehow, I find myself a thirty-two-year-old man who can’t afford to have a place without a roommate. So, it’s no huge surprise that the idea of being given complete control over someone’s body and pleasure is a major turn-on. I never had any inkling I might be into guys, until my best friend told me he likes to be tied up. Now I’m losing sleep, imagining him bound and begging for me. I can’t figure out if it’s just the kink or if it’s possible I’m falling for him.

Unraveled is the first book in the Inked series, a spinoff of the Heathens Ink series. I suggest reading books 1 – 4 of the Heathens Ink series first, but this book can also be read as a standalone.
This was a sweet story about two best friends and roommates who discover that their feelings for each other go beyond the platonic. Max is a wonderful father who is willing to make the hard choices necessary to put his daughter first. I enjoyed the romance between Max and Clay, but some of the plot points were a little off. For example, the custody arrangement and family court case were not accurate, but I can see how the inaccuracy were necessary for the plot. However, K.M. Neuhold is a great writer, and I did find the book overall enjoyable.
Clay is searching for a partner he can trust, a partner who will accept all of him. His kink makes that hard.
Max is a single father, clays roommate best friend and straight… or is he. Because Clay is starting to affect Max in a way he never felt before.
Can Max overcome preconceived notions of what he thought he was looking for in a partner? Can Clay trust Max enough to express himself fully? Is the kink too much for Max? And When a surprise move presents itself, are Clay and Max ready to hold on and never let go?
The fifth book in the Heavens Ink series, Unraveled is a beautiful love story that I highly recommend.
I loved this book, loved the way the main characters developed their relationship. Holy sh…akeadoodle. I didn’t think KM Neuhold could get better with every book, but damn…
I truly enjoyed this book so much. Clay is so strong, yet he truly can’t see that for all his insecurities. Max is finding himself and is just open to all the needs of Clay. This was beautiful to read.
So good!
This was such an amazing read. Some things I figured out but others surprised me. Seems Max wasn’t the only one who learned some things about himself. I’m fact I think Clay actually learned more about himself. Reactions of a few of the characters surprised be throughout the whole story too. This book is a prime example of why I love this author.
Such an awesome book!
Loved it! Had humor, angst, and towards the end, had me tearing up. The characters were realistic, and made you root for them. Highly recommend.
Max and Clay have been roommates for a long time. They get each other and are content spending time together and with Max’s daughter Gigi. The Heathens Ink guys show up just to let us know they are still around (although they are not central to this story).
Clay likes to be tied up (not giving anything away because hey, gorgeous book cover). He hasn’t had a lot of luck finding someone who fulfills his kink, so he has become resigned to being alone.
Max is happy with his friend and his daughter. He hasn’t had much luck finding the right woman. No one has been a perfect fit for him. Max discovers something that throws his so so life into disarray. Causing him to question what he has been looking for.
They are so hot and sweet together. These men may be my favorite in the authors Heathens Ink family. Satisfying story of finding love when you least expect it.
