Book Quotes
“The sudden urge to swing her arms and skip came out of nowhere. She didn’t, of course. Landing on her butt in front of a stranger would make her look like a dork.”
“A pebble of joy skipped across the surface of his mind, disturbing the guilt plaguing him for the past three years. His heart pounded a bit faster and flickered to life.”
“The melody eased into her skin note by note, tapping into the buried pain, hurt she rarely allowed to show.”
“One of these days, Ethan, you are going to find a woman who gets under your skin. You’ll try to shut her out because you don’t believe in love. Your parents certainly didn’t show you what love could be like, so you don’t know it exists. But love does exist. And, when you experience it, it can transform your soul. You’ll fight it, of course. You can’t trust the feeling.”
Author Questions:
I noticed this book has a different Elkridge label. How is this book different from the rest of the series? Unmistaken is the first book in the Lonely Ridge Collection. Novels in this new collection are also set in the small town of Elkridge, Colorado. The series follows the characters that readers have come to love, but these books don’t have the murder mystery threads that were included in the Elkridge Series.
I love that this book includes so many of the Elkridge characters I’ve come to know. How do you keep track of them all? Spreadsheets! I have this gigantic spreadsheet workbook with a map of the town and a database of all the characters from the books. There are more than 200 characters, including dogs and cats which I track. Plus, there are even more potential characters like schoolteachers, dentists, postmasters, and the like that I have as placeholders in case I need a future character. For example, there’s a sports store on my town map that I haven’t yet used, but I figured, what mountain town doesn’t have somewhere to buy fishing tackle?
If this is the first book in the Lonely Ridge Collection, does that mean there are more books coming?>/b> Now that you mention it, yes, there are two more books swirling around in my head that need to be told. After that, I’m not sure in which direction I will head. It all depends on the readers and whether they want a break from Elkridge, or whether they are dying to know what happens to a certain character. I say that, but then there’s always the challenge of writing a story for a character like Rivers Black. In my head, he’s a loner and an introvert, who is content living alone. Plus, he’s somewhat abrupt and rude. While a good secondary character, who would want to put up with him? It would take a very special lady with a lot of tolerance—that’s for sure.

Nice to meet this author! I’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable day reading this book. The story-line is excellent; the characters are developed and wonderful; and, I loved Trapper and Cheddar. This book has “feeling” and that’s what makes a good book. Doc Tom and Doc Ethan had a lot to learn about women; songwriter and singer Noelle had to learn to trust a man; and Maggie got to watch it all from her café kitchen. Heading into the Christmas holidays with all the rush, great smells, good friends and loving family, this makes for a wonderful read. Thanks, Ms. Kelley, for writing a great book.
Lyz Kelley is a very talented author who always creates a quirky cast of supportive characters in each novel. Ethan is a damaged hero who gives to everyone but himself and Noelle, who wants him to feel life again, struggles with the wrong information about her past that gives her tunnel vision about going towards her future.
Ms. Kelley takes us on a journey of self-discovery that includes betrayal, loss, secrets (with a hint of a twist), truth, love and second chances. She’s a master at portraying two wounded souls and writing them with heart, humor, heat and happiness.
Awww, so good. I really, really loved this book. The dynamics of this story were described so well. Elkridge was the perfect setting for this lovely romance. Noelle was so sweet and adorable and Ethan was just wonderful. Both had been deeply hurt and were dealing with it in different manners. Their love story with all its obstacles was so endearing, just perfect.
Unmistaken is another fantastic read by an amazing author. I have read all of this author’s books and they are all great reads. This is a well written book with believable characters that are great together. Both Ethan and Noelle believed they were unlovable but together they found love. Love the Elkridge Series and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Favorite Quotes:
His scarred face and the snake tattoo circling around his thick neck could make a woman pee her pants if she discovered him next to her in a dark alley. But Noelle had known Ted most of her life. He was a lot like his barbeque sauce—sweet, with a spicy-hot kick.

My Review:
Unmistaken featured an enigmatic, lonely, and taciturn small-town doctor who dreaded the Christmas season as it was the anniversary of the accident that took his wife and young daughter. Mores the pity when a visiting former resident, who had arrived in town to surprise her mother, needed a place to stay and she just happened to ooze Christmas cheer, loved decorating and singing carols, and baking holiday treats for everyone. They seemed to be opposite but shared more similarities than they or anyone else knew. Both had significant issues to work through but after just a week, neither would ever be the same. I have enjoyed this series and while each book can stand alone – I enjoy catching a glimpse of the previously featured characters in each new installment. Ms. Kelley writes easy to follow, entertaining, and emotive tales with humor, relevant storylines, and wounded yet endearingly lovable characters that require more than a bit of patience as well as prodding from the small and somewhat meddlesome community of Elkridge to get them to their well deserved HEA.
