Lucky in Love. That’s the name of the dating app I picked, hoping to find Mr. Better Than Average so I can hold off planning my future as a cat lady.I’ve been distracted eyeballing a tall, dark, and handsome Latin hottie who works in the library with me. He is way out of my league, and a woman has needs if you know what I mean.Finding a man shouldn’t be hard when all I have to do is swipe left or … shouldn’t be hard when all I have to do is swipe left or right. It’ll weed out the slimy men who have Bad Date written all over them.
Yeah, I’m learning quickly that I’m rather unlucky in love after all. The men I pick need warning labels, kissing lessons, and a good talking-to about manners.
Should I throw in the towel, or will this series of bad dates be exactly what I need to win Mr. Right?

Izzy decides it’s time to start dating again so she signs up with the dating app Lucky In Love hoping she finds Mr. Better Than Average. Loved the humorous situations that Izzy finds herself in and I loved Mario for her. He always tried to make everything better for Izzy. Great writing, believable characters and a humorous, entertaining story make this a five star read.
Computer dating rom com!!! This book by AJ Renee did not disappoint!!! This is a stand alone novel about Izzy, full time college student who works in her school library, with some dirty thoughts about a sexy coed and co worker, Mario. The only thing wrong with Mario is that he’s already taken. But have no fear Izzy has dating apps which bring many dating woes and lots of laughs for the reader!!! Mario is a great guy….hot, sexy, nice but is he now flirting with me & still with his girlfriend??? Izzy may have discovered his flaw or did she…..pick this up and laugh and enjoy someone else’s dating horror stories instead of your own!!!
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Cute, funny and fast read! Most everyone has had to deal with dating…..nowadays everything is social media and dating apps. Izzy decides she is going to give the online dating thing a try. Swipe left or swipe right? That’s the question. Thank the gods above that this girl has an amazing friend in Val that helps to keep her head on straight and make sure she is ok with all these crazy as hell dates. Izzy has gone on some dates that you just can’t make up. Just when you think the person is ok or that you should give them a shot their true colors show and then you realize just how far in the crazy house you have gone, LOL! In the midst of everything Izzy has this incredible tall and dark drink of water that she works with but he always finds her in the most embarrassing of situations. She knows he is hot as hell but that he is too good for her. Once she has so many unlucky dates she decides to cool it and then she and Mario decide to date. The entire book is cute and funny with the crazy shenanigans that Izzy and the other characters go through. It is a fast and fun read that will definitely lift your spirits. Loving Unlucky In Love!
This book is hysterically funny and super sweet. I seriously loved every minute even thru the bad dates. Some of them were beyond horrible. Izzy is looking for love but not having any luck. She is on app and finding some winners. Some start out good but by the end not so much. It’s funny how she going on all these dates there was someone hiding in the shadows just waiting for her. Mario works with Izzy. He watches her(not creepily) and sees her failing over and over again. He sees his chance and acts on it. He is super sweet and romantic. I loved how he made every thing that was horrible a good memory for her. I swear I was swooning so hard. I loved both Izzy and Mario. They proved that with open communication a relationship can work. Oh and there’s a pyscho ex girlfriend in this book as well.
This is my first book I have read by A J Renee. I loved this book. Izzy is single and ready to mingle via a dating app. Izzy works at the college campus library. Izzy uses a dating app to find dates. Mario is a guy who works in the library to, but she don’t think he notices her. Izzy meets a few guys off the dating app, but everyone of them have a quirk to them that can’t be over looked. Mario talks to Izzy every once in a while and she thinks he has a girlfriend. Well he did but they broke up. Mario finally asked Izzy out on a date. Things start to develop from there. Let me say that everyone should have a Mario in their life. Izzy is no longer Unlucky in Love.
This was my first from this author. The books leads you on a series of trial and error dates in the attempt to find what she is missing. Gifting the reader with near real feels over what they might have already gone through or are going through. HEA is hard to achieve when you won’t try and this book is all about trying again. Humor, appeal and a good time. I enjoyed reading this little journey.
This was the first book I’ve read from this author and I really enjoyed it. It was a fun light read with a lot of humor and beautiful characters. I am so happy that luck was finally on their sides.
Believe in yourself and never give up!
Hard to rate. Maybe closer to 3.5, but I prefer to round up. The book started out on a pretty good, humorous scene. And I definitely get the whole dating app scene, part of why I was eager to read this one. In a way, I feel like the main character was extremely picky though. I mean, everything was good with the one guy, the kissing started good, but then got a little weird. I feel like that is something you could work on, especially since he was such a nice guy. And then there was the guy that she had sex with, and he had an extremely dedicated dirty talk subject, and I guess that could definitely be off-putting. But even as I thought she was overly picky, I had to think to myself about all the silly little things I have let keep me from giving guys a second chance. Like, the guy ordered a salad on our date. Really? Or again, I just wasn’t attracted. It’s obvious who is going to be the Mr. Right in this book, even before he is actually available. When he does finally become available, all of that is just sweet and perfect! In this case I would have to say that the last little bit of fight she put up felt a little forced to me, but I guess it was needed as otherwise there wouldn’t really have been any drama for the last quarter of the book. Just happy, sexy times with Mr. Right.
Overall the writing was definitely fun, with the type of banter I enjoy. The romance was steamy when it was supposed to be, and sweet when that was needed. I can see reading more books by this author in the future.
This is a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the core group of characters immensely. Izzy was a hoot, Val and Jerry were like the best ever friend and boss (respectively), and Mario ended up being a great guy.
The horrible dates that Izzy had reminded me of some of the doozies that I had in my younger, single days. They are fun to laugh about now, but at the time they were quite depressing and occasionally a little scary.
I did think Izzy seemed a bit immature for a supposedly mid-20’s student pursuing a master’s degree. I would have found it more believable had she been listed as an undergrad, possibly a freshman.
I also found it odd how Izzy considered Mario way out of her league, yet she talks about how pretty she is and how much guys are attracted to her throughout the book. And when she does finally get a chance with Mario, there is no mention again of him being too good for her, not even a little self-doubt, at least not in that regard.
Overall, it was a cute, funny, uplifting story with a happy ending. I just found some parts of it a bit unrealistic.
Unlucky in Love was a cute, funny, romantic story; I love a good Rom Com. This is the first book that I have read by A.J. Renee and I am loving her writing style. I love a good laugh in a book and this one definitely gave me that. The story did open myeyes as to how dating through the internet works in this world.
I felt sorry for Izzy and her lucky in love or I should say no luck in love. The men that she encountered on that dating app were an interesting bunch, to say the least, some good and some not so good! She really did have the worst luck ever. I love Izzy’s personality; she was so sweet and kind hearted. She only wanted to find that special someone. Mario was the most perfect man and so swoon-worthy! He had such a good heart and was well mannered, so what is not to like?
Unlucky in Love is read as a standalone. I look forward to reading more stories by A.J. Renee in the future.
5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
AJ Renee has become one of my favorite authors. I loved everything she writes and Unlucky in Love is no exception to that. This story is full of wit, humor, and cringe worthy events. I loved AJ Renee’s exceptional writing of this story and how she made me feel like I was right there watching everything unfold before me. < This is Izzy's story. One that full of seriously ridiculous dates. Izzy tries to find love through a dating app. What could possibly go wrong, right? Oh my...so, so much. I loved how Mario was patient and just waited. In the end, Izzy found what she was looking for. It was right in front of her all along. I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I loved the build up and the anticipation. I loved laughing and falling in love with Izzy. I loved the romance. This is what a true Rom Com should be. Please check out Unlucky in Love!
Unlucky In Love is sure to give you a chuckle or two.
This book stars Izzy who has had a horrible time dating lately. She has been using a dating app named Lucky in Love but she keeps getting duds. Like literally horrible dates. This is a slow going book. She is super attracted to Mario, a fellow coworker, but thinks he is way out of her league. She also knows he has a girlfriend so he is off limits. She goes on some dates that will make you cringe. It made me super happy to be done with the whole dating scene, to be honest. It takes about half the book before there is a way for them to be together and then it becomes funnier and steamier.
I loved how their relationship was so sweet (not to mention that Mario is a sexy Latin man ) It was so easy and fun, it made me want to go back on the dating scene and find myself a Mario.
This is a college-aged romance with humor, steam and a happy ending. I recommend if you love laughs.
Unlucky In Love by AJ Renee is the story of Izzy trying to find her right now man.
Izzy works at the college campus library. There she works with Mario who is someone she is attracted too and but feels that he is way out of her league. So she goes forward to a dating app where she meets some bad dates…so are kind of funny. Mario does come into play but so we do get to see her in a relationship. I enjoyed this book… it was a fun read for sure!
