AJ The name AJ Colthurst may not have any meaning to the public eye, but it should, as I’m the daughter of two famous celebrities. Like any superstar, they crave privacy; so much of it, they built a house in the middle of nowhere for us children. As we grew older, we discovered the lies they built as a fort to protect us from the media, ended up causing emotional damage along the way. I carry a … way.
I carry a portion of the guilt on my shoulders; the other part I discovered is the separation of my parents. Their unorthodox ways may have driven me bonkers, but knowing they are no longer together is unacceptable.
That’s why I decided to rattle their cage by reminding at least one of my parents of the past and the reason they belong together. They need to remember why their love is so perfect and why they have to fight to keep it alive. Even if it means I have to dredge up some of my own painful memories along the way.
Gabe
Back in the early eighties, I set myself to succeed in the financial world. The first step had been moving to New York City to become a stockbroker, but things didn’t work out the way I had hoped. Instead, I ended up making movies and by the end of the decade, Gabe Colt had become a famous name. The downside to my career of choice: the paparazzi. In order to protect my family and our privacy, I maintained my family away from the circus. It had been for their own good; a decision we had made before we started our family.
However, those past decisions ended up chasing my entire family away and now I’m trying to put the pieces back together along with my little girl.
Note: This book may contain high levels of testosterone. A Hot Actor, Hot musicians and A Hottie who believes he’s a hero.

I finished this book a couple days ago and cannot stop thinking about it! I started reading this story with certain expectations and Ms. Burgoa blew them right out of the water. She weaved a beautiful epic love story, masterfully moving from past to present revealing piece by piece of each characters story. This family is loving, protective and loyal. Yes they have their misunderstandings, arguments, and secrets that cause conflict but at the heart they have an unbreakable bond. A.J. starts the story in an awkward predicament sending her home to her parents where the exchange of secrets and confessions begin. This story is a suspenseful, fascinating, and heartbreakingly beautiful journey. The characters all feel genuine and honest and relateable. I don’t want to spoil anything about this wonderful story so I will just say that I loved it! Bravo Ms. Burgoa, Bravo! I can’t wait to read A.J. & Mason’s story, Unsurprisingly Complicated!

I’ve never read a book like Unlike Any Other by Claudia Burgoa. The idea is pretty cool, I admit. But, unfortunately, I didn’t like it.

I had no idea what the story was going to be about when I started reading, so it all came from out of the blue and I can honestly say WOW!! I loved everything about this book. I loved how it was told from dual perspectives, A.J’s and Gabes, I loved how it was a mix of both the past and the Present. I can’t wait to start reading the next book. I would give it 10 stars if it was an option.
Just a heads up, this is not going to be a book you can read on autopilot. There are multiple characters and multiple timelines and it will take attention to keep everything sorted. Fortunately, you are going to be so caught up in this story that you are going to want to savor it nice and slowly. I went in with a bit of a chip on my shoulder against AJ from the blurb. I was thinking that it was a big mistake for a child to insist that parents stay together. However, once the story got rolling it was clear exactly where AJ was coming from. Definitely don’t miss this one, I’ll bet it is different from anything you’ve read lately. Can’t wait for the next one.
Original and unique! This was an amazingly beautiful story that was woven thru past and present. There is love, family, secrets and lies in the story line. I loved every single word in this story!! It was sooo good, highly recommend! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.
This is an amazing book. It took me a while to work through the switching between characters and the multiple time lines. But it was the characters that really sucked me in. They’re each compelling in their own right and I had to find out how it ended. Which totally blew me away. So much emotion. So much pain. So much love.
Now that I have an idea of the subsequent plot lines, I’m pumped for the next book.
This is the first book I’ve read by Claudia Y. Burgoa. So much to look forward to.
To say i enjoyed this book is a understatement. A sign of a fantastic book: I was maybe a third of the way and I jumped in the car to go to my local bookstore to order a hard copy of this beautifully written wonderful love story. And make no bones about it this is a love story. A perfect wonderful beautiful real love story. The kind we all dream of having. One that lasts through all time. Like the Princess bride love story where Wesley tells Buttercup that death can not stop true love only delay it for a little while love story. I truly believe after reading about Gabe and Chris that they would go through a fire swamp for each other and both would definitely handle the ROUS’s for themselves and their children. Never thought I would find a love story to rival Wesley and Buttercups or one that Kindle alexander has in Always between Kane and Avery but this one does.
But the book is more than just a swoonworthy tale of two men and how they came to have a Princess Bride love story. This is also about healing and finding your family and self. AJ is lost she left her family in a wake of her pain and now is going to them to find out the truth. She feels hurt and betrayed. She has her own secrets and doesn’t want to deal with them. Upon arriving home reality crashes in and she is faced with many things. Her dads have wandered from each other, she is feeling alone and doesn’t know what to do. Gabe realizes this and makes a deal with her. He will tell the story of how her dad’s became her dads if she talks to. Getting her to talk not easy but in the end it is Gabe and Chris together who do. Those two are so meant for each other and the actions that Gabe does in the end to show Chris his love will have you in tears. Seriously this is a kleenex moment. The whole love story of CHris and Gabe and heartache and pain of AJ will just have you needing kleenex. Chris and Gabe are great. This book will have you laughing at how they met and became friends. Chris will have you smiling with how he comes up with material for songs, Their two boys are a hoot and just keep you entertained. Gabe is kind and caring but does lose his way a little. Thank heavens he finds it. So does Chris. These two are so perfect together. They pull together for their family and for AJ.
Each character even Porter will draw you to them and root for them. You don’t want to put the book down or have the story end it is just to heartfelt and warm. Such beautiful writing and emotions are poured into the page. You get invested from page 1 and so hope that things work out. A amazing wonderful story about love and family that will have you smile, laugh cry and just want more.
This book was such a surprise!! I got it as an ARC and so had no information on the book. It started out with a set of triplets finding out their father was engaged to a girl their age and she was pregnant! He is a famous actor. The clincher is that he is married and his family has been hidden from the spotlight. The only girl in the triplets flies to California to confront him and all the past is revealed in a marvelous way that unraveled this family’s history. It was the most engrossing tale that kept me avidly reading until the end! It was amazing and not at all what you might think. I loved it. I’m going to buy the next book to find out what happens with Mason and Nine.
I enjoyed this story
I loved how this story has a lot of twist and turns. The characters were terrific. Each brought out how each person dealt with being with a family that had issues.
Unlike Any Other (Unexpected Book 1) by Claudia Burgoa is a celebrity contemporary romance told in dual points of view that alternates scenes from the past with those from the present. I found this story to be truly unique and unlike any other that I have read before.
I really enjoyed how the story unfolded through the perspectives of father and daughter as they both shared their experiences of love and heartbreak with each other. I was drawn in right from the beginning and once I started reading, found it hard to put down.
There were moments that pulled on my heartstrings and also some humorous ones. And that twist caught me completely by surprise! I didn’t see it coming. All of these elements would have made this a four-star review, but there were just too many grammatical errors that could not be overlooked.
I was repeatedly yanked out of the story to reread parts and figure out what the author intended. If the editing had been better, I would have immediately one-clicked the next book in the series because I’d really love to know what happens in AJ and Mason’s story. At the moment, I’m on the fence about continuing.
For now, I’m moving on to other books. I may revisit this series at a later time. That being said, this is the first book that I’ve read by Claudia Burgoa and I’m certain that it will not be the last.
Unlike Any Other is a terrifc read. The story does go back and forth from the past to present. But I had no trouble following it. I loved the Colthurst-Decker’s family and can’t wait to read more of them.
Unlike Any Other was a great read and a fitting title for this book because it was unlike any other book I’ve read. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I was a little hesitant because I figure if you’ve read one book similar to this one you’ve basically read all. When you read as much as I do, it’s hard to find a book that stands out from the rest, and this one did for me. I loved the dynamic of the family in this story. However, I have to be honest and say this book started off slow but it was a story that kept me interested and wanting to know more, and I finished the book in one day. There were definitely a few parts within this story that took me by surprise. No matter how flawed the characters were, I enjoyed all of them and I look forward to getting more of Gabriel (Gabe), Christian (Chris), Ainsley (AJ or Nine), Jacob (JC), Matthew (MJ), Mason and even more of Porter’s (PK) story. Yes, almost everyone have nicknames. The story goes from past to present and there are sensitive subject matters that might be triggers for some such as fetal death, so beware if you prefer to stay away from books containing that matter. However, if you are looking for a read that’s different but deals with love, grief, forgiveness, accepting who you are and who you love no matter what, and experience joy and happiness along the way as you face your fears, this is a great book worth reading. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.
