A great sci-fi romance!
When you just want a nap you end up with an uninvited roommate
Uninvited Roommate by Layla Stone is a quick and easy story to read. The characters of Naff and “Baby Steps” are thrown into a situation they have to work out and their finally do but with a lot of chemistry and more than a little spiky banter between them.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I LOVED this quick and surprisingly sweet read.
When we are fist introduced to Naff, he gruff and well rude. I honestly didnt have much faith in how the chemistry would mesh with him and someone else. Well i was proved wrong. Adya was perfect. I would read this again in a heart beat. Now Im ready for some more.
Happy reading!

This was a great quick read that I wish was longer. I loved the characters interactions and banter; it was the best. I loved Naff; he was something else. I loved that Adya stood her ground and wasnt afraid of him. This made my night when I read it.

Naff is a Night Demon. He is feared and disliked by everyone. He goes home to his apartment and finds that the landlord has rented it out to someone else. He’s worked all day and still has to work at night. He is not happy. Adya, Small Steps, is the pet name that Naff has given her. She is a Hetten, an empath. This was a really good story. Imagine having some not be scared of him has really messed with Naffs mind. He’s a demon and everyone is scared of him. This had action, adventure, fighting, bargaining and most of all love. I highly recommend this story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love Naff’s nickname for Adya, Steps, and will use it in the review. This is a great novella, I only wish it was longer because I liked the characters so much. Poor Naff, he has a hard life as a Night Demon. The story opens with him getting off work from his crappy job and finding out that his place has been rented out from under him by his sleazy landlord. This results in his offering an unusual agreement with Steps, the new tenant, which gets the story started. Naff is a really good demon and deserves the love he finds with Steps. She has great abilities which help Naff heal from the many injuries he receives from his second job fighting in the Pit and handling the threats the couple faces. Read the book and enjoy the ride.
Naff is called a hellbeast by the Terrans, actually a Night Demon with black forehead horns 10 inches long, who works in a rib place that caters to Terrans. Gage, the manager’s nephew, tried to force naff to clean off Table 16, but Naff’s shift was over and the people were still sitting at that table. He told Gage to clean it himself. Naff had been working non-stop just to pay rent and he was exhausted. He had been a bare-knuckle fighter in the Pit, so when he gets off his first job, he goes to the Pit to fight and make enough to pay the ever-increasing rent – but he had to win or he would get nothing. He just needed to get a small nap before he went to the Pit.
But this time, when he arrives and trudges up to his apartment, he finds food in his refrigerator and a Terran woman standing behind him tells him that she just rented the apartment! He told her to get out, then went down to fight with the manager about this. The Terran followed slowly behind him, so he nicknamed her “Baby Steps”. When the manager told him he was late again with the rent, he said he was out and the lady was in. So Naff grabbed her, implying harm so the manager would take him seriously, and he backed up to the elevator, dragging her with him. He whispered in her ear that she should be screaming – for some reason she didn’t seem afraid of him?
Letting her go once in the elevator, they returned to the apartment and Naff stretched out on the couch. She told him to leave, so he offered her a deal. He would allow her to stay in his apartment, rent free, and would give her the rent money to pay Frank — on time. He refused to move and all of his stuff was there. She could stay until her lease ran out. Surprisingly, after they worked out a couple of conditions, she agreed. Was this actually going to work out?
I loved the banter between the two main characters. I enjoyed Naff’s interactions with just about everyone, because he was amazingly fair to people, only giving them grief if they deserved it. Grab your copy of this fun short story and chuckle through what’s sure to be a crazy arrangement!
Book one in the Marnak Series and I want to read the next book, a well written short story. Naff a Night Demon and Steps do not meet under the best of circumstances. I enjoyed reading their story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Naff is dragging himself home to catch a few winks before he has to be at his second job when he discovers an intruder. Steps says it’s her apartment and wants him out! This is a cute short story about how they settle things while trying not to bleed everywhere. After all, there’s always mayhem when a Night Demon is involved!
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a promising start to this new series. The story was interesting and I liked the characters. I thought they had good chemistry and watching their relationship evolve. A very good read.
I really liked this short story read. I wish there was more. This is a full story with HEA at the end.
