Do you ever feel left out, lonely, or less than? Today, learn the secret of belonging which will help you keep rejections in perspective and be better equipped to foster healthy connections in your relationships.
In Uninvited, Lysa shares her own deeply personal experiences of rejection from the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over to the incredibly painful … over to the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father. She leans in to honestly examine the roots of rejection, as well as rejection’s ability to poison relationships from the inside out, including our relationship with God. With biblical depth, gut honest vulnerability, and refreshing wit, Lysa will help you:
- Stop feeling left out by believing that even when you are overlooked by others you are handpicked by God.
- Change your tendency to either fall apart or control the actions of others by embracing God-honoring ways to process your hurt.
- Know exactly what to pray for the next ten days to steady your soul and restore your confidence in the midst of rejection.
- Overcome the two core fears that feed your insecurities by understanding the secret of belonging.
Uninvited reminds us we are destined for a love that can never be diminished, tarnished, shaken, or taken—a love that does not reject or uninvite.

This book was just not for me
This is the first book by Lysa TerKeurst that I’ve read and it was a wonderful introduction to a beloved author that I now love.
In truth, I’ve carried this book with me for quite a long time. I would always look at it and wonder if now was the time to read it but I never felt quite ready to open it to the first page and start reading. I was slightly afraid that it would touch a deep part of my heart that I kept tucked away hidden from the world and that fear kept me away from reading such a beautiful and raw message about the lies in rejection.
In Uninvited, Lysa shares a series of experiences in her own life where she felt the painful sting of rejection. It’s through those vulnerable, gut wrenching experiences that she’s able to teach helpful and God honoring ways to better process the hurt and to overcome the fears that feed our insecurities.
My favorite part of the book was how sincere Lysa was with the message she wrote about finding truths in the midst of rejection and the joy that comes when we choose to live loved. She created a safe place where I could openly learn while not being ashamed of the emotions I was working through. It truly was like I was talking to a friend I’d known forever.
I also loved the different stories Lysa referenced from the Bible. Her words intertwined with scripture helped create a different perspective on rejection and how to cling to the promises of God’s truth above all else.
After finishing this book I realized that even though we may feel rejected, left out and lonely we can find peace in God’s promises and we can rest assured that Jesus loves us and that there is hope to be found even in the middle of rejection.
*I was gifted a copy of this book. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.*
Rejection is still a sore spot but not nearly the gaping wound it used to be after reading this and walking through major healing with the LORD. Dozens of highlighted sections and memorable stories to inspire and help. I would definitely go through this and the workbook again. So good!
As always, I enjoyed the complete honesty of Lysa TerKeurst. Her ability to share her own stories, truth from the Bible & practical ways for me to work thru a similar situation is invaluable.
Gave a very real look at rejection, perceived and real, and offers help in dealing with the feelings that come with feeling rejected.
Wonderful book, has helped me so much.
Healing, honest, loving
It was very encouraging.
This book is a serious mindset shifter. Reading it brought up so much that I didn’t realize needed to be dealt with as far as thought life and my relationships. My close friends and I did this as a group study and it was healing in a lot of ways for all of us.
Lysa TerKuerst speaks from experience — rejection, overlooked, left behind. You and I have also learned about each of these awful things and haven’t known how to respond. Lysa’s transparency helped me find new strength to let go of my hurt and hate, it’s hard to choose love and kindness but with God’s help I am able.
This book was truly amazing and transforming! I suggest anyone who has ever felt left out, abandoned, lonely. And any rejection feelings this book is for you! This book touched my soul I cried so many times from the truth of it all. I suggest buying the study guide with the book I did the online bible study with Proverbs31 and also the study guide and it covers all the same things and it’s just so transforming.
This book was such an inspiration to me, it came to me in a season of my life in which I really needed it. I owe Lysa a huge thank you for opening my eyes to a new way to handle rejection. The scriptures given and the real life examples she used makes her so relate-able, I can”t wait to read her new book in November!
This book was exactly what my insecure heart needed.
