Leola was not enjoying nature at the moment on her hike through the woods. She was on edge, looking around and tense as if someone was watching her. And the mosquitoes were having a feast on her blood. What was worse, a rabbit ran in front of her, more terrified of whatever it just ran into in the woods than it was of the human right there on the path. She sat down for a drink when a twig snapped behind her. As she prepared to run, the man told her he would not hurt her – and she believed him. Two other men stepped out, and again she fought the urge to shift and run. Kerry, Cas, and Levon introduced themselves; but when she asked if they had been watching her earlier, they said no. She sensed they were predators and she warned them her friend knew she was here. She also kept asking who they really were, until Cas laughed and said she was feisty for a deer! She already felt he was the alpha of these guys. She flirted with him and asked what a woman would have to do to get his attention – he responded all she had to say was “Yes”. She did, and he immediately kissed her passionately and, instead of feeling like dinner, she knew these guys would protect her. Then he started to purr.
Leola was completely unfamiliar with the shifter community, having been raised by humans and shifting only once accidentally as she grew up. But as Cas kissed her and lifted her up to wrap her legs around him, Levon purred and pressed against her back, kissing down her neck. Kerry, who had been watching to keep them safe, finally approached and licked at her lips – she was hoping that with her actually being prey, these predators were not just playing with their food. Well yeah, they really did play, but she was more like the dessert than the dinner!
Some time later in her apartment, she felt discomfort, pain in her stomach, a terrible itchy feeling up her leg. Her arms and legs felt thinner somehow, but her eyes were squeezed closed with the pain. She got the pain under control and opened her eyes to see tawny fur on her legs! She learned on the internet that shifters were real and she wanted to do it again. She knew just where to go!
She hiked back to where she had met the guys, then stripped down and tried to shift. When it happened, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the other two times, but she was shaky on four legs. So she practiced walking and prancing until she got better at it. She looked up the trail and a huge wolf was staring at her! She ran and it after her, staying close no matter how she dodged! She was exhausted and fell, watching the wolf close in on her, when suddenly snarling sounded behind her! Would her guy be able to protect her? Were they ready to let her know what shifter she truly was – and that they were fated mates?
This was a cute story that was well-written. The characters were very well depicted to show the reader their different personalities. The big revelation of what kind of shifter Leola actually was gave me goosebumps and got rid of my confusion as to the source of the title. (I think the guys distracted me from using my brain on that one.) This was a different approach to shifter life and I enjoyed it.

An OK start to the series
I have mixed views about this book. It wasn’t a bad story, and even the shock of the different parties jumping on each other when first met didn’t put me off (I’d just come away from reading a slow-burn story, so the change of pace always comes with a bit of necessary mental adjustment).
It was a cute little story of “fated mates”, where a unicorn shifter, who doesn’t even really know what she is, having never actually seen herself in a mirror, due to the nature in which she found out she was a shifter and not having had time to be taught what it meant, is, erm, where was I? Yes, this unicorn shifter, with a complicated background, meets a pack of mountain lion shifters, who teach her not only about shifting and what it means to be a shifter, but also about love, and plenty of hot sex.
This is a story that’s all about the “meating” (can I throw meeting/mating/meat all into one?!). The characters are thrown together, have sex a couple of times, and we find out a bit of background. This means that we find out a lot in such little space, which doesn’t leave much space for actual character development (more sexual than character development. Ahem).
Then there’s the time jump at the end, which leaves a feeling of incompleteness. So much more could have been put into the story, to develop it further, which is a bit of a shame, really.
All in all, this doesn’t make it a bad story, but it doesn’t make it a concrete one. I really hope for a bit more development in the next book in the series.
Final rating: – Sort of liked/OK
I loved everything about this book and just couldn’t put it down, fantastically written with stunning and captivating characters. A must read for so many reasons. I am sure you will love this book as much as I did!!!!
Hot sexy shifters make for a short but sweet book. A love story that follows three lion shifters when their mate is someone unexpected. Funny, fun and i loved it!

If you are looking for a quick, hot and steamy read then this is the book for you. Laura Greenwood does not waste time with getting right into this book. It starts off quick and get hot real fast. I mean this will make you sweat and begging for more. The main character, Leola, has no idea about what kind of shifter she is. She meets Cas, Levon and Kerry by chance when looking for a place in the woods. She feels drawn to them and not scared at all. But hey with 3 gorgeous guys who would be scared. These men turn her inside out and upside down. So what does she do? She goes back to get answers to her questions. There is a lot of steamy love making going on that you will not want to put the book down till you get to the end. Be warned this book is really hot and will consume you!!
I quite enjoyed reading this book about Leola and her mates and only wish that it was longer. There are several moments that I’d have loved to read about, moments that I felt were important…but to be honest, every moment was important and I’d never be satisfied with covering them all. 🙂
The writing was superb, the characters were swoon-worthy and the story kept my attention from the first to the last word….thank goodness that there’s a second book in the series that I can dive into straight away because I don’t think the authors would have appreciated my constant nagging and peaking over their shoulders to see the next chapter!

This book immediately pulls you in and will not let you go. You will laugh and cry with these characters as they realize where they need to be and with who they need to be with. I cannot wait to see where these people will go and how far they grow.

Love co-written books very much and I’ve read several books of both authors. This one was very entertaining. Leola loves walking in the forest as she is a deer shifter (or so she thinkes.) Her parents were killed and she was adopted by a human family. She runs into Cas, Kerry and Levon. Her instincts tell her to run but they are so attractive. Now what to do? A few days later she goes again trying to find them again. What will happen?
It is a quick read but extremely well written. It does have a little bit of insta love but tastefully written. I love Leola and our three men. The story is unique and the storyline is superb. I adore unicorns since a child and haven’t grown out of that love. To see a shifter story with a unicorn is fantastic. It drew me in and didn’t let go until I reached the end. Now I absolutely have to read the next in the series just to find out what happens.
