It’s Halloween night and the Haunted Corn Maze is a madhouse. However, no one knows one of the zombies in the diorama is a dead body. There’s a reason it looks so real. Lieutenant Veronica Woods is dressed as a Power Ranger, as are her four friends, enjoying the frights and scares in the chill autumn air. Ronnie is a tiger-shifter, and her sense of smell points her to the body, but there’s no … there’s no logical reason for her to climb the small hill and traipse through the display. At least, not until she scents a group of vampires, and she bullies and coerces one of them into helping her report the crime so she can begin her investigation.
Josef is an ancient vampire with a military mindset. He was a general in his human life, and now he’s head of security for one of the most powerful vampires alive. He hasn’t had a personal relationship in decades, and has no interest in one, but the adorable little tiger shifter walks like a sex kitten and issues orders like a military general. Her people obviously respect her, and he finds he doesn’t want to leave her side when she’s ready to turn him loose.
NOTE: Unhallowed Murder can be read as a stand-alone.

This paranormal murder mystery romance takes place around Halloween which enhances the atmosphere to the mystery as the strong, bold characters discover a body while out celebrating with friends. The mystery augments the story with thrilling suspense and keeps reader guessing ‘who done it?’ right along with Ronni and Josef in this fast paced and thrilling story. And readers get the thrill of trying to discover clues and find evidence right alongside the characters as the author paints such vivid imagery which makes it easy for readers to imagine each and every scene. The plots is fast paced and flows smoothly throughout the story with lots of electrical chemistry flowing between Ronni and Josef which adds lots of hot and spicy romance to the story. The romance is the story starts with each of the characters being intrigued with each other and they kind of negotiate their way into a relationship which builds the suspense of the romance. Once again, the Chattanooga Supernaturals provide a rip roaring romance that keeps readers entertained from beginning to end, which is kind of fitting since it’s about a vampire and a tiger shifter. The story can be read alone without reading the other books in the series and it is a bit different being it is a murder mystery romance but it is still part of the fascinating world full of wonderful characters that reader can’t get enough of.
I love this book! Happy to see Josef get his own story and find his match in Ronnie. She is one bad a$$ woman. I was intrigued with the mystery and felt like I helped solve it too. I read it in one night. couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to the next book from this author.
Ronnie and Josef chemistry was explosive hot. This shifter romance was a treat to read the story plot grip me from the first chapter I was so invested in these characters this book was amazing. I voluntarily review this book for my honest opinion.
Ms Blevins delivers again. Murder mystery that keeps you engaged to the last page. Ronnie and Josef are two strong dominant characters who meet at a murder scene. Fall in love with them as they work together find out who did it and solve the crime. As the clues unfold their live ignites.
Ms Blevins style of writing captures your mind as you are drawn to her characters, not just the main ones but also the side players.
Candace Blevins has taken us back into her area of the Chattanooga Supernaturals for something a little unusual for her – a murder mystery.
It’s Halloween and among friends and dress up a murder is discovered by tiger shifter Ronnie a police Lieutenant. Not being able to point out the corpse hidden among the zombie display so when she scents some vampires she sends out a request for assistance and Joseph, one of the ancients, comes to her aid.
Both feel the instant chemistry between them. Joseph volunteers his help reading the thoughts of the witnesses in order to spend more time with her as well as help Ronnie with her case.
The charismatic General and the enthusiastic Tigress begin a journey of discovery building a foundation for their endearing romantic relationship.
It wouldn’t be a Candace Blevin’s book without some heat and while there is plenty of that to be found it doesn’t overwhelm this unusual storyline of good versus evil.
Ms. Blevins has taken some of the familiar characters and seemlessly blended them with new friends in recognizable places which I found greatly appealed to me.
Bottom line is I enjoyed this book and have no problem suggesting that you read it as well and will like it as much as I do.
I loved the energy between Josef and Veronica (Ronnie), they were way more than sparking, there was a definite current connecting these two!
First and foremost, this is a murder mystery, where what appears only leads to more twists and turns, as a case needs to be solved. As our trusty tigress uses her policing skills to bring justice to a young woman’s death. She is balancing her jurisdiction with the FBI, and fighting her own personal demons, while doing so. She enables the help of Josef, a vampire who has been around for many millennia, and heads up security for the head vampire in this area, The Abbot
Ronnie and Josef have an instant attraction, which they work through, as they solve the crime. She has personal preferences for very legitimate reasons, and he only wants what is best for her. The unexpected events of their attraction happen alongside the many facets of the investigation. It builds as they discover more about each other, and solidify their relationship over time
The story gives an insight into what is real, and different, from what it appears, on a night where everyone dresses up to be something else. Evil can appear wholesome, innocence can be an illusion, and the real reason why Roman statues depict men’s physiques in a certain way
I LOVED THIS STORY! This may be the most vanilla thing I’ve read from this author but that doesn’t make it any less sexy or fun to read. We have an interesting murder, an ancient vampire and a were tiger police lieutenant. This story is terrific and I can’t say much without spoilers but if you like strong women and smart men you will totally enjoy this. This story deals with the worst type of humans but the author adds in enough comic relief to keep it from being too dark.
Ronnie, a police lieutenant tiger shifter, and Josef, a very old vampire, meet one night when they are both attending a Halloween festival. Even though both were supernatural beings in the same city, they had never had a reason to meet. The flow of their meeting and mutual attraction really seemed to be organic and believable. The romantic side of this relationship was lovely and as sweet as one could believe between a shifter and a vampire.
The crime that led to them meeting was both a good reason for them to meet and was one that would lead to them seeing each other in a competent, similar interests way. The pacing of how the crime was found out and solved kept me interested in that as well as the romance.
All in all, I think this book could be read as a stand-alone by a reader new to this author. It also is great for those of us who have read all of this author’s supernatural books.
I have yet to feel that any of her characters are repetitive in nature even if the same types of paranormals are in the book. The couples are all unique in several ways, which keeps me coming back to read each book.
A scrumptious addition to the Supernatural series
When Lieutenant Ronnie Woods, head of the Homicide division, Tiger Shifter, and Josef, ancient Roman general, Vampire, head of Abbott’s security, meet on Halloween night, it is over a dead body.
Both are wary, but intrigued by each other. Josef the perfect scheming gentleman and Ronnie, the luscious spitfire.
It doesn’t take much scheming by Ronnie for Josef to elect himself her helper in solving a murder.
During the course of working together, they grow ever closer.
But, will they or won’t they follow their urges instead of adhering to the unwritten law, that Vampires and Shifters do not mix?
As a bonus we get a Halloween party attended by Shifters, Vampires, Humans, all in silly costumes and even the Amakhosi makes a short appearance!
A Halloween murder…the perfect setup for this fabulous love story that brings together a vibrant, tough as nails police lieutenant and an sexy, ancient vampire. Ronnie and Josef, oh how I loved this couple. At first she’s wary but intrigued by this quiet but commanding vampire. He has personal rules about relationships but breaks every one for the spitfire shapeshifter. This romance plays out against the backdrop of murder that turns into something so much bigger than anyone bargained for.
I loved this mystery paranormal story that Candace introduced us to. Ronnie is a Lt. with the police department and Josef is a vampire, they meet because of a dead body. Here the mystery begins and we are taken on a journey through police procedurals, which are very fascinating. Also, along the way, our main characters are feeling a spark between them, will they make anything out of it?
I’ve said this before and will probably say it again, I love how strong the women are that Candace writes, they may not be strong in muscle but they are also strong in mind, some are both. As Josef and Ronnie get to know each other, they find obstacles from the past. IF they want to continue with their relationship, they will have to find a way to overcome those obstacles.
Great job with the murder mystery and finding a way to make sure that we are given an outcome and, in my opinion, just deserves to the culprit or culprits.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
if some said to me 10 years ago that I would go from Pride and Prejudice and Twilight as an idea for a romance novel to a supernatural story involving a vampire, tiger (and a whole bunch of supernatural drama queens) in a middle of a murder mystery set in Chattanooga, I would call you crazy !! but then, somewhere along the way (2014. to be precise) I discovered Candace, and my romance streak took a turn – for good. Now I love my romance with a twist and supernatural political drama.
Girl, gimme !!!
Ronnie (Veronica) is a Lieutenant that is a big girl who knows how to handle herself and finds herself in need of a knight in (dare I say sparkly *wink wink* *Candace, please don’t kick my ass*) shining armor that has her back, when all he wants to do is rescue her. Joseph is old (you get the vibe from the name!) and is set in his ways but the little kitty is about to knock him on his ass and make him jump back up. but he is set on being the boss and helps her in the process. ah love….
its a love story made in supernatural dreamland, thrown in together with a twisted murder mystery (cause we need a break between all the dopey goo goo eyes these two are about to set on each other – joke people!!! it helps with the relationship >> that’s a first) and you have yourself a Candace love potion wrapped in a awesome book.
the story is sharp, it will keep you glued to the book and, I can’t help myself, we get to see our favorite kitty cat – Nathan, soooo its a win-win for me. The characters are great, Joseph is there almost from the beginning but now he finally gets a voice and personality and I LOVE IT !!!! they both are complex but not overly, and I just LOOOOOOOVED every minute of it. While reading Candace’s books, ever since Nathan and Kirsten, I am loooooving her feline characters sooo much, and this one didn’t disappoint. literary, I was reading and purrrrrrr-in at the same time. And mind you, I am a 100% dog person. so…
does kitty wanna come and play ???? read the book to find out, you won’t regret it !!
