It takes Wonder Woman courage and Superman strength to heal the wounds of abuse and…perhaps to love again. Special Agent Jamie Gallagher had a rough start. Her years in foster care gave her a personal drive unlike most people. Everything she touched became a testament to her strength. From an Olympic gold medal at seventeen to the Secret Service and finally settling in with the FBI. Her life has … settling in with the FBI. Her life has purpose and there isn’t room for anything else, including a man or a serious relationship.
New York billionaire Colin MacKenzie led a privileged life but achieved his own success with acceptance to Harvard and furthered it when he, and his college roommate, sold an app in a multi-million-dollar deal. He then started and grew his business into a multi-billion-dollar corporation. With little to no success with dating, as most women saw his bank account before they saw him, he’s not sure if he’ll get married or if he even wants to.
When an attempt is made on Colin’s life, the FBI assigns Jamie as his bodyguard. She is forced to move into Colin’s Manhattan penthouse until the suspect is apprehended, and once there the sparks fly. Colin is immediately taken by the sultry redhead and has difficulty remembering that he’s merely an assignment. Jamie must protect Colin’s life but who will protect her heart?
This is book three in the Steel and Desire series but can be enjoyed independently.

This was a new to me author so I was unsure what to expect and for the most part I liked the story a lot. I loved the Jamie – she was strong and determined and smart. Best heroine I’ve seen in a long time. She came from nothing but took charge of her destiny and made a life for herself. She’s now an FBI Agent.
Colin is a successful billionaire who came from money but made his own fortune. Now he’s been threatened and Jamie has been put in place as his bodyguard. But they’ve met before.
While I really liked the characters, I felt that Jamie kind of wilted when faced with Colin. They are both dominant personalities and I thought she gave way much too quickly. That being said, it was a good adventure, I loved the characters and it was a fast paced story. I’ll be looking for more by this author.
Emotional scars made Jamie hesitant to commit to any relationship!

Jamie graduated from the Naval Academy, worked for the Secret Service, and had only recently joined the FBI and moved to New York. Her first job was as a bodyguard to a wealthy tech millionaire businessman. Colin MacKenzie was the recipient of a bomb left at his office. Jamie and Colin had met briefly at the local coffee shop. It was a meeting that left a lasting impression on them both. Colin was attracted to Jamie from the beginning and was only too happy for a chance to know Jamie better. I enjoyed this romance between Colin and Jamie. The chemistry between them was explosive, and despite her role as a bodyguard, Colin knew that she was attracted to him. However, Jamie had a disturbing past that left her with deep emotional scars. Their romance had the blessing of both his and her parents, and yet Jamie was hesitant to commit to a relationship with Colin.

This is book 3 in a series & I was wary of starting it since I haven’t read any of the others. There are a few times when characters from the other books make appearances that I found a bit confusing, trying to figure out where everyone fits. For the most part though there were no issues and I enjoyed the book very much. Initially I found Jamie too perfect at everything to be believable but as the storyline developed it stopped being an issue. The drama was well played and added nicely to the story.
I haven’t read any other of Kendra Greenwood’s books but she has a new fan!! This is the third book in the Steel and Desire Series but can be read as a standalone. Jamie had a difficult childhood, but fortunately was adopted by a great couple and with their help, she thrived. An Olympic Gold-medalist at 17, completed her education, accepted into the Secret Service, and finally an agent in the FBI, she is assigned to guard Colin MacKenzie after a bomb threat. He was born into a wealthy family, but through his own hard work has become a multi-billionaire. The attraction is instant and intense and is when she is required to move in with him and they are together 24/7, the sparks fly. Jamie’s introduction to the D/s lifestyle was a huge awakening for her and her misconceptions about that kind of relationship were eased. The building relationship between these two was compelling, both characters were so much more than met the eye. the story had great pace, drama, and was a page turner from start to finish. Great Read

I started the book thinking I might not like it. Well, I didn’t like it, I loved it! Jamie is an FBI agent who is the bodyguard for Colin who has had two bomb threats made against him. She has to be with him 24/7 and she finds him attractive. Colin is a business man, but he is also a dom at a lifestyle club. He wants to have Jamie as his sub, but she doesn’t see herself that way. They do a lot of talking and she comes to realize that he only wants to be dominant in the bedroom. In between this, Jamie is trying to protect him from being killed. I enjoyed this story. This is book three of a series, but I have not read the other two books and I enjoyed this one immensely. I plan to go back and read the other two as well.

New author for me and while I loved the accomplished FBI agent Jamie, she was almost to accomplished to be true. Jamie gets assigned to Colin as a body guard when he receives a bomb threat. Colin finds it difficult to follow Janie’s lead as he is a DOM and used to being in charge, while Jamie does not understand why anyone would be interested in the world of BDSM.
Honestly I did not care much for Colin, his attitude towards the club submissive’s or subies as he calls them, combined with the club rules that the women can be touched by any DOM anywhere they like, unless with another DOM, then permission must be asked from the DOM. This left me speechless, how is that consensual? Even after he teaches Jamie about BDSM and falls in love her her he still refers to her as subie. He does have some redeeming qualities but I feel he could have been a bit more respectful. Jamie on the other hand embraces her inner submissive only in the bedroom, I love that she stayed strong independent and accomplished outside the bedroom. I would recommend the series and I will go back and read the other books in the series. This book is a standalone.

This is the third book in the series, but the first I’ve read from this author. I can safely say that it reads well as a stand-alone, though there’s some significant interaction with characters from the previous books and several references to the events that took place in them. I really enjoyed the suspense in this book. It kept me glued to the edge of my seat anxiously waiting to find out what would happen next. The police procedural aspects don’t feel especially realistic, but like any good Hollywood movie, the explosions and fistfights distract from that. The angst between Colin and Jamie left me torn. I liked the explosive chemistry it showcased, but Jamie’s resistance and waffling got on my nerves by the end. I liked the way the Lifestyle is shown between Colin and Jamie. A lot of care and attention went into demystifying her misconceptions and prejudices. I wasn’t as big a fan of how it’s portrayed in the club, though. It bothered me that our first encounter with our hero is of him “training” a new submissive applicant to the club. I didn’t like the “other woman” vibe of that scene. But what really concerned me was when Colin tells Jamie “all Dominants can touch a sub without their permission”. That just about sent me off on an epic rant. That sounds like it has the potential to be neither safe nor sane, and it definitely isn’t consensual. I didn’t think the club Lifestyle was as big a deal as it is to me until I started putting it into words. I really loved this book, other than the club. And even the tiny amount of time they spend there reduced my enjoyment in the story. I’m curious about the other characters we met, and I’m interested in reading their stories as well.

A wonderful read by this author. I loved the characters Jamie and Colin I really did not want their story to end.
