This newest book in the Silver Spring Series is a winner. Ms. Novak writes with such feeling and heart that the reader can feel the characters as they read. This book has all of what a reader wants in a novel. It has tragedy, angst, so many feelings from heartbreak and pain of leaving a first love, to the misery and guilt of thinking that you caused someone else’s bad choices that led to their worst choice. And hence loss of what life could have been for so many people. This book is also about rediscovering, and acceptance. Discovering that sometimes first love never goes away and accepting that life after tragedy can go on and be lived to the fullest of what we make it. Lastly, this book has heart, lots of feelings of love, of rebuilding what was taken away, of discovering that real love never dies, and with work, life can go on, families can come together and start anew.
This is the 5th book in the Silver Springs series, but can be read as a standalone. There are a lot of side characters mentioned throughout the book so if you’d like more info on them it would be a good idea to read the previous books.
If two people ever truly deserved a second chance at love, Jada and Maddox definitely do! After a horrible tragedy occurred 13 years ago, their lives were changed forever – as well as the lives of those they love. Now they are both back in town and fighting the attraction that never left either of them. The only thing standing in their way is her family and his guilt over the tragedy.
This is a emotional, yet heartbreaking story of forgiveness and second chances. I loved this storyline and the characters involved – well, except for a couple of them. You’ll understand after you read. Who knows though, they may redeem themselves in future books! I definitely can’t wait for the next book after reading whose story it is!
This book is filled with so many emotions. Jada Brooks has come back to Silver Springs after her father passed away, along with her daughter. Shes not expecting to see Maddox who she loved a long time ago. Things changed and they went there separate ways one awful night an accident they will forever be forgotten.
Maddox is back in Silver Springs for reasons only some know. It won’t be easy being back, and now seeing Jada with a daughter.
What will happen when his brother gets out of prison? Well only time will tell.
See what happens. Can Jada and Maddox get a second chance at love or not?
It seems every time I read and review a Brenda Novak book, I gush about how much I love her stories. Well, I am going to do it again! I LOVED this book. For the past several hours as I have been reading this, I have totally lived in this world. I was right there in Silver Springs feeling all the emotions that each character brought. There was heartbreak, and healing and all the feelings they brought about. Jada, Maya, Maddox, even Atticus, and Tobias were real people to me. The plot was once again wonderful and believable, and I so enjoy these visits to Silver Springs. I can’t wait for the next book.
Wow I just LOVED this story! It was filled with such emotions, such great characters and such a wonderful story line. Just when I think the last book in this series could not be topped, Brenda Novak throws a curve and doesn’t just top it….she demolishes it! I cannot wait until the next book which will be Tobias’s story!
Jada Brooks’ life changed drastically when she was 17 years old. Who knew taking her little brother to a party so she could see her boyfriend Maddox Richardson would wreck her life for good. Jada was forced to break it off with Maddox, who was then quickly removed from New Horizons Boy Ranch, a boarding school for troubled teens and sent somewhere else. Shortly after, Jada found out she was pregnant with Maddox’s baby. Jada decided to leave Silver Springs, CA and move to LA raise her baby on her own after being chastised by her parents.
13 years later Jada finds herself divorced and moving back to Silver Springs after her dad passed away. She knew life was going to be hard on her and her daughter, Maya but she wasn’t expecting to run into her past in the form of Maddox Richardson. She had told her daughter that her dad died in a motorcycle accident, but one look at Maddox and all Jada sees is her daughter’s face.
Maddox only took the job as the new principal at New Horizons Girl Ranch because he knew Jada no longer lived in Silver Springs and as a favor to Aiyana Turner, who owns the ranches. Imagine his surprise when he sees Jada! When these two finally speak, it is clearly obvious that the old sparks are still there. Now these two need to decide if they can get through the skeletons of the past and finally get the family and happy ending that they both deserve.
Should a tragedy that happened when Jada Brooks was in high school destroy her future and that of those she loves after thirteen years? At the time she was forced to choose between her first love, Maddox Richardson, and her younger brother who was shot and paralyzed by Tobias, Maddox’s brother. Her mother still blames her. The light of her life is her daughter, Maya, who’s asking questions about her unknown father. Can she tell her the truth? Jada comes back to Silver Springs to help but nothing has changed at home. I felt sorry that Jada has to endure her mother’s hatred. It would be difficult to live with such censure. It was upsetting that her mother didn’t realize we all make mistakes. What will happen now that Maddox is the principal at New Horizon School and Tobias has been released from jail? The love and desire between Jada and Maddox is still there. I felt they were meant to be together if only they can put the past behind them. It was heartbreaking to watch both Tobias and Atticus struggle to find a new path. I liked Uriah Lamb. He was the friend Tobias needed. Brenda Novak took me back to a town I love to visit. It’s filled with characters that I care about. Unforgettable You is an emotional journey that touched my heart. I’m looking forward to the next book which features Tobias.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
With each new story in this series, they keep getting better and better. I am a sucker for second chance romance. This Heart of Mine, by Brenda Novak, is one of my all time favorites. Maddox and Jada’s story comes really close to the top now. It was the type of book that really pulls you in and doesn’t let go. I was completely mesmerized by it. These two went through so much, because of one tragic night. The repercussions rippled throughout their lives. I really enjoyed the journey they had to go through to find love again. It was beautiful.
Loved, loved this story of second chance romance. Jada and Maddox have both returned to Silver Springs after thirteen years. They went their separate ways after a tragic accident happened one night when they were teenagers. Now upon returning they find the chemistry between them is still there, but Jada is hiding a big secret from Maddox. Will they be able to put the past behind them and move forward?
I have loved all of the Silver Springs books but I think this is my favorite. Both characters are so flawed and how they overcome their pasts. I just loved Maddox, he is so good to his brother and mom. So many emotions throughout the story. I highly recommend!!
A thought-provoking second-chance romance with a cast of characters that will have you rooting for a happy ending for all of them, Brenda Novak’s Unforgettable You is the fifth book in her Silver Springs series. Jada and Maddox have a tragic history steeped in guilt. When a poor decision by two teenagers in love led to a horrible accident, the consequences were far-reaching. Twelve years later, Maddox and Jada are back in Silver Springs and it doesn’t take them long to cross paths, and realize their feelings are still as prevalent as they were when they were separated. There is resistance, secrets, and family conflict, but can love win?
Novak continues to populate the small town of Silver Springs with characters that fully realized and add depth to the story and the town. I enjoyed my return visit to Silver Springs, and can’t wait to see who Novak decides to focus on next.
This is part of a series, but can easily stand alone. Just realize, if it is your first visit to Silver Springs, it won’t be your last. Be prepared to binge on the rest of the series.

Jada Brooks was back in Silver Springs, with her daughter Maya, after her divorce in LA.
There was her family – her mother and brother, Atticus.
Maybe the circumstances were not the best, since her brother was shot and paralyzed from the waist down, and Jada felt responsible for it, having to face her mother’s harsh looks and hard words – but there she was willing to rebuild her life.
Maybe this plan was not so good.
She didn’t know that Maddox Richardson, her high school sweetheart, was back in town.
Maddox had been a problem boy, with all the bad family dynamics. But he was welcomed by Aiyana Turner and became one of her boys who managed to rebuild his life.
In fact, he became so valuable that Aiyana made sure that he returned to the boys’ ranch to be the new principal of the new girls’ school.
Maddox had a debt of gratitude to Aiyana, and it would be impossible to refuse her job offer. But even more so, he just accepted because he was sure that Jada was living in LA.
Until the two meet in the city.
There was a lot to be said, too many explanations, and the feelings were still strong.
Accepting Maddox’s apologies and making peace with the past would mean for Jada to have to face her mother’s wrath.
But Jada had one more reason to want Maddox back.
Could he forgive her this time?
This series is one of my favorite. With each plot, new emotions and dilemmas spout from the pages and make us think about how life can sometimes be cruel, and at the same time gives us the opportunity for redemption.
Get ready to be thrilled with every new revelation of the characters.
5 stars
I’ve enjoyed every book in the Silver Springs series by Brenda Novak and this book is no exception. With characters that are flawed and real your heart can’t help but become wrapped up in their stories. That is absolutely true of Jada and Maddox. These two were young lovers who were torn apart by one awful event. Now years later they have a second chance. Will they risk everything for each other or is the past and secrets of the past too much to overcome?
Put this on the must risk list. I highly recommend it.
Jada and Maddox found love as teenagers but then one night shattered their worlds and Jada’s family pushed them apart. Jada has returned to Silver Springs with her 12-year-old daughter, Maya, to help her mom run her cookie business. Her mother still carries a lot of anger toward Jada for what happened that night that changed her brother’s life. As she is working to help the business and pay the bills, she never expects to see Maddox back in town. Maddox is excited to be the principal at the New Horizons girls’ school but coming back to Silver Springs is still risky. When he sees Jada in town, he is shocked since she should be in LA but all the old feelings he had for her are still there. I loved Jada and Maddox’s journey. One night can change so much but years later, can forgiveness and acceptance be found? There is a lot of hurt to overcome on both sides which gutted me at times yet found myself understanding and then wanting that second chance to be given to them for love. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
This is a very emotional read. To say that Jada and Maddox’s romance is complicated is simply a gross understatement. I like this series and was happy to return to Silver Springs once again. This author can be counted on to deliver books that contain characters that have made mistakes and offers them a second chance at love and redemption. There is so much going on here; guilt, anger, secrets, drama, angst and heartache all get a chance play their part. While all the while forgiveness and love linger, waiting for their turn in the spotlight. I liked Jada and Maddox, felt bad for them and thought that the hand they were dealt was incredibly unfair, but alas life doesn’t always play that way. I was very happy to see these two get their second chance at a HEA and I really enjoyed reading it.
Just…wow. When I think about the problems some folks have had to deal with in life, it really puts anything going on in mine in clear prospective. In Unforgettable You, Ms. Novak once again brings us to New Horizons Boys Ranch and we get to read about another young man that Aiyana Turner helped so long ago. This story is about a very grown up Maddox Richardson and his long ago girlfriend, Jada Brooks. Although this is the next book in this series, it is a standalone, although I love revisiting people and places from earlier books.
I won’t go into details as the author does such a wonderful job weaving the story around both Maddox’s and Jada’s families but I will say that the two families have such deep rooted animosity (to use a loose term) towards each other that their suffering will break your heart. Even though I chose my sides early on in the book, it is easy to understand how Jada’s family became so bitter towards the Richardsons. Maddox’s family…my heart broke for his brother and I was firmly in the ‘who does she think she is’ camp for his mother and how he was raised. I really felt all the highs and lows for all of them.
Some of the new characters we meet, Uriah Lamb for instance, is such a wonderful character! I can only hope that someday I run into someone like him if I am ever in need. And Jada’s daughter, Maya, is a sweetie and smart as a whip! Really great characters, even the ones I decided I wouldn’t like to meet, and am looking forward to reading more about this town.
This is book 5 in the Silver Springs series and it features Maddox and Jada. These two have quite the history that involves both their families. I was not able to feel any deep-seated love between them. It just felt like unresolved sexual feelings. I felt so bad for Jada for the way her parents, and later her mother, treated her. And Maya, she’s a real social butterfly. This story felt like it was more about the tragic events that happened between Atticus and Tobias. How do you get over the kind of anger that Atticus must feel? Tragic!
This is about second chances, moving on from the past and forgiveness. This story needed a deeper romance and better structure. I had a problem with the text messages. There was no clear separation between a text message and the sentences in a paragraph. Although this was a great story line, it was not my favorite in the series because I missed the feeling of reading one of this authors beautiful, emotional romances. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Jada and Maddox seemed to be doomed to be separated. Their tragic past is still keeping them apart. But fate seems to intervene and put them back in the same place at the same time. The story is one of those that while there was a horrible action with lifelong consequences that helps you understand that there really isn’t a villian. The story was a great lesson in forgiveness and second chances. I really enjoyed the book. i received an advance copy in return for an honest review.
Brenda Novak delivered a walking on glass tale about getting a second chance with your first (and only) true love. After a life-altering choice, the characters, both primary and secondary, are all struggling to find normal. This story acknowledges that families can fracture, rebuild, adapt, and reform.
It is possible to heal…
I enjoyed it.
Unforgettable You is the fifth title in the Silver Springs series, a small town contemporary romance. I love a secret baby romance, so was quite eager to read this title but I struggled to connect with the story line, in particular the heroine.
Maddox and Jada’s were childhood sweethearts and I so wanted this pair to have a happy ever after. I was intrigued by the concept of this story line, but it just didn’t work for me. Jada was so spirited and strong in some ways, but her guilt lasted for thirteen years, and continued to pander to her family, in particular her mother, in an effort to be forgiven. Events of the past left Jada feeling guilty, and I struggled with how she was used and abused by her family. The guilt she felt ended up feeling contrived, rather than genuine, and her family came across as quite heartless, self-centered and manipulative.
I quite liked Maddox’s character. He’s kind, and has worked hard to leave his upbringing and bad choices of the past behind him.
Accidents happen. There are consequences from actions. It’s how you deal with both of them that matters.
Jada and Maddox. Atticus and Tobias. One choice and one unfortunate action, begat a whole series of consequences that followed all four of them, culminating in them all being back together in their small town.
Jada loved Maddox and wanted to be with him whenever she could. She also had a younger brother, Atticus, who she was responsible for when her parents were out. What harm could come from going to a party? Maddox was there. It should be OK, except, those darn old accidents. Atticus is injured and four lives are forever changed.
Jada is forced to make a decision and leaves town. Maddox is forced out of town. Atticus has to deal with his disability. Tobias has to face his punishment.
Fast forward to the present when circumstances bring both Jada and Maddox back to town. Is the love they shared as teens still there? Can Maddox forgive Jada for leaving with no word? How is Atticus? Can Tobias make amends for his actions as a teenager?
This review makes ‘Unforgettable You’ sound like a really crazy sad book. It’s not. What it does do is look at how each person deals with actions from a decade earlier and makes their peace with what they did then and how they deal with everything now.
This is part of the Silver Springs series by Brenda Novak. Although it is part of a series, it is absolutely a stand-alone read.
