Back then, I had it all.
Wicked fastball. Killer instinct. Cocky grin. Full package.
(And believe me, I knew how to score.)
My senior year, I was a first round draft pick with a two-million-dollar signing bonus. Before I could even legally buy myself a beer, I made my Major League debut.
Point is, I was invincible.
Until one day I wasn’t.
After tanking my career—during the World Series, no … tanking my career—during the World Series, no less—the last thing I want to do is return to my hometown, where every jerk in a ball cap has an opinion about what went wrong with my arm. So when my sister drags me back to town for her wedding, I vow to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.
Then I run into April Sawyer.
In high school we were just friends, but I’d always wanted her, and I’d never forgotten her—the red hair, the incredible smile, the crazy, reckless thing we did in the back of my truck the night we said goodbye. It’s been eighteen years, but one look at her and I feel like my old self again. I can still make her laugh, she can still take me down a notch, and when the chemistry between us explodes, it’s even hotter this time around—and I don’t want it to end.
But just when I think I’m ready to let go of the past and get back in the game, life throws me a curveball I never saw coming.

This is the 5th and final book in this awesome series and what a perfect ending April and Tyler’s story is. These two have not seen each other is 18 years, and with April harbouring secrets her therapist suggests that she confronts her past in order to move on. This is a beautifully written love story which is filled with off the charts’ chemistry, drama, emotions, and secrets which all had me totally captivated throughout his addictive page turner. I highly recommend this gifted authors’ work for all readers. You will never be disappointed.
This entire series is brilliant! As much as I don’t want this series to end, I do have to say this was a stellar way to finish it off. All 5 books have as much relatable content as they have sweet swoon worthy scenes. I just love all these characters so much.
April is the second oldest of the Sawyer sisters. She’s the last one holding out on finding her true love. It’s not that she doesn’t want to find someone. It’s that she’s been carrying around a secret for 18 years that keeps her from letting her walls down. The secret is so tightly guarded only 1 sister even knows about it. Her struggle to accept it and let it go is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. She needs to move forward, but in doing so she finds someone from her past. Someone she feels at ease with. Could he just be the love she’s been searching for?
Tyler Shaw had it all. He was drafted straight out of high school into the MLB. He moved away from his family and the one girl he’s always had his eye on, April Sawyer. Then all of a sudden the life he envisioned crumbles around him when his career is forced to end abruptly. Heading back to his small home town isn’t what he wants to do. He wants to basically continue his life as a recluse. However, his only sister is getting married so back home he goes. He runs into April, and with just one look all his feelings come rushing back.
These two have enough heartache between the two of them to drag them down. Separately they can’t seem to move forward. Together they seem to be able to relax and be themselves. I love when two people become the best versions of themselves because their significant other brings out the best in them. But life keeps throwing curve balls and it may just be too much to overcome.
After I finish each of these books I say, “oh this sister’s book is my favorite.” Now that I have read all 5, I just can’t decide. Each book was spectacular in it’s own right and I just love them all. This is a series I could read over and over again. Each one is well written, well edited, and smoothly connects all the books and the characters within each of them. If you skip this series you are missing out in a big way.
