Don’t miss this fan-favorite tale of second chances by #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts. It’s been twelve years, but very little in Hyatt Town, Maryland has changed. Vanessa Sexton, a successful concert pianist, has finally come home to the small town after having her heart shattered all those years ago. In some ways her high school sweetheart, Brady Tucker, hasn’t changed much … ago. In some ways her high school sweetheart, Brady Tucker, hasn’t changed much either—he is still lean, athletic, rugged…But the once reckless boy had become a solid, dependable man. He’d stood her up on the most important night of her life; can she ever trust him again?
“You can’t bottle wish fulfillment, but Nora Roberts certainly knows how to put it on the page.”

I enjoyed this book, years of frustration made this story, sad, but poignant. the mothers story with a happy ending made this even more interesting, Small towns lives can get so tangled up and yet be so worthwhile. One persons poisonous thoughts and actions affect so many lives.
I enjoyed reading this book especially because the main character is so complex. On one hand she is very strong and independent being a world renoun musician but underneath it all she is very vulnerable and afraid, especially when it comes to making commitments. I found myself rooting for her to be strong and confident n her decisions. A very good read.
Early Nora, good story telling. Her writing got better and stories more complex in her later books.
Still a good one, will probably read again, as I do with most of her books.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this book turned out to be a great read. This is a prime example of the torment suffered by some for reasons they do not understand. It also emphasizes the needs for people to communicate openly and fully. Do not allow yourself to “accept” what you may be able to change through clarification. Loved this book.
Easy read. Predictable.
After years of poo-pooing romance novels, I read Nora Roberts after a friend recommended her. Romantic, happy endings? Yes. But with good story-telling and realistic descriptions of the blocks to intimacy that many of us experience. Not sappy.. Escapist reading with some healing thrown in. Glad I returned to simply reading a novel for enjoyment for a change.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I liked this story; it was sweet and touching and just what I was needing. FLUFF. I just needed light fluff. And it was lovely. 🙂
This story is clearly identified as “originally published in 1992.” It was written before Nora Roberts’ break-out novel that took her to a NYT bestseller. As it’s a re-release of one of her earlier works, I knew what to expect. Nora Roberts has always delivered a good story, and this is no exception. It may not have the sharp-edged characters or the zippy pacing of her current works, but it’s a good coming home/reunion story. Vanessa is a burned-out concert pianist who needs a break. She has stomach problems, serious issues with her mother, and truths to be faced about her father. Her old boyfriend, Brady, who broke her heart the night of their senior prom, is still lean, athletic and rugged, but also a responsible and caring guy. It’s an emotional story with a lovely character arc. I enjoyed it.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a NORA ROBERTS that I didn’t like (especially her J D ROBB series!
Nora Roberts books are my favorites. The stories are interesting and full and the characters are well developed.
