Let me start off by saying I thoroughly enjoy Rebecca’s writing and her characters. I know that going into her books, I am going to enjoy the story and love these characters.
Unexpectedly Yours is a very fast-paced insta-love story. As you all know, I am not a huge of insta-love stories – they are really hard sells for me. Andrew and Grace’s story is one that I am not 100% sold on as insta-love but the chemistry is truly undeniable between them.
Andrew is immediately smitten with Grace after their one-night stand together. Grace isn’t one to just jump into bed after meeting someone. So she is totally thrown off balance when he shows up at work the next day and finding out that he will be the new owner of her company.
Grace is ready to move and she tells him that she needs space and that their rumble in the sheets won’t be a repeat performance. However, Andrew isn’t letting her get away that easily. He is man that always get what he wants and has never been told no before.
Andrew definitely is the more persistent one in this relationship and refuses to let Grace just walk away. He’s definitely going into new territory with the begging and groveling but he know it breaks down the walls that Grace has up.
As I said, this book moves at a very fast pace. Andrew is the driving force behind their relationship moving forward. Grave tries to maintain a level head by attempting to slow things down, but he isn’t having it. He’s afraid that he’ll lose her if she gets insider her head and downplays the attraction one another.
I do like the fact that Rebecca has the characters questioning the pace of their relationship to help maintain that level of normalcy. But I also enjoy how Andrew doesn’t care and wants to pursue this. There definitely is that back and forth that help keeps things more real.
Overall, it is good read and I enjoyed that simplicity of this book. There isn’t any over the top drama and has the overall happy vibe that comes off the pages. Most romance readers will gobble this book up and love all over it. Rebecca never steers her readers wrong and Unexpectedly Yours is another example of that.
Oh this was a stunning insta love story that will hit you with the feels on every which way. I absolutely loved the flow and the concept. I giggled and I swooned with everything that Gracie and Drew went through. Their reservations, but their love was so dynamic. Drew was all in, Gracie nervous. Honestly I don’t blame her and I would be nervous too. But they meshed so well together that they just HAD to make it work!
Overall this was an amazing read that makes you smile. I loved every moment and I have one serious question though… Can we please have Aaron’s story??? I AM DYING HERE!!!
This is the story of Andrew, and Grace. After spending one steamy night with Drew, she finds out the next day he is her boss. But Drew doesn’t just want one night with Grace, he wants more, and he plans to fight for it. This was an entertaining read, steamy, passionate, sweet, emotional, and fun. This is a must read!
Office romance with some feels thrown in, yes please! While this was a real insta love story I still enjoyed following these two characters on their crazy fast ride. Ms. Shea really knows how to make us blush and feel the feels at the same time. For those who love insta love this is definitely for you. Even though things between Drew and Gracie go from 0 to love right away, you can’t help but go along on the ride and fall in love. Drew’s determination to get Gracie to see herself the way he sees her is just one of the reasons I enjoyed this story.
Definitely a must read!
Sweet, dreamy, swoon worthy and such an enjoyable read!
I really liked these characters. Andrew and Grace were connected from the beginning even if only for one night, or so it seemed. The connection continued in the office though. They fall in love quickly and completely.
Andrew was sweet but at one point near the end I really didn’t like his reactions and his words they were hurtful and selfish. It felt out of character for a man so head over heels in love. I felt Grace should really make him grovel like ALOT!
The angst factor however, was low and the story was a quick and pleasant easy read.
I enjoyed and needed this easy read romance at a time that I really needed it! Rebecca Shea delivers an entertaining well written story!
Drew and Gracie meet one night when they both just want to enjoy each other. It’s supposed to be one night but when Gracie sees him again what will she do? Will Drew walk away?
A swoon worthy romance mixed with angst and a ton of stubbornness. This book takes you on an unexpected journey of finding love when you least expect. One night stands should be just that unless you have a soul shaking connection. Sometimes what you want most and what your heart craves smack in in the face. It’s a love that knocks you on your butt and makes you second guess the choices you make. The characters are so easy to connect with and you can’t help but love them. I enjoyed the writing and it was done at just the right pace. This is one of those books that just makes you smile. I suggest you pickup a copy and enjoy this incredible book.
Overall Grade:
Oh my gosh! You know when you read a book, and there is so much to love about it even when you might have issues with some of it? There is something sultry and profound in its message, and you can’t stop reading it because you need it to find its blissful resolution. This is the case with Rebecca Shea’s Unexpectedly Yours.
I need to preface this review with two thoughts about my reading of romance, specifically Shea’s book. For one, I hadn’t read her before this book. I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to sign up for an ARC because there is something exciting and $exy about office romances and the potential for drama. However, and this is my second point, it is EASY for me to suspend my disbelief for just about anything. In fact, if you read my reviews, you know that I’m a fairly easy “grader.” I will believe most tropes for the fun of it, but one aspect of romances where I struggle is “love at first sight.” In the early days of my reviewing, I read nearly everything I could get my hands on, and I read too many books that leaned towards these quick “love” matches. That is one area where I cannot suspend my disbelief. And that is one of my issues with Shea’s romance.
Andrew “Drew” and Grace meet in a one time one night stand. This is something Grace never does, yet life is difficult for her. She uses this moment to fall into a handsome attentive man as a respite, a way to escape her life even for a night. Lo and behold, the next day, Grace finds out that Drew is her new boss, having acquired the ad agency where Grace works. What Grace doesn’t know is that Drew has no intention of letting her walk away. Instead, he has fallen for her, and he needs her to be a part of his life. Unfortunately, Grace’s life is complicated, and her past is very different from Drew’s, putting them in different socio-economic places. She struggles to accept Drew’s love for her. Drew, though, is tenacious, and he works hard to ensure Grace is his…until he makes a fateful decision that could derail their future.
What is amazing about Shea’s book:
The characters. Drew and Grace have all the chemistry necessary for this romance. They are $exy and steam up the page. It’s also clear that they care for each other, and I appreciate the discussion that Shea sets up in their coupling. These two are seemingly opposites when it comes to economic backgrounds. This allows for Shea to show the disparity of classes and ways to overcome those disparities. At times, however, Drew lacks empathy for Grace, and the tension of this story lies in Grace’s acceptance of Drew’s love. Over and over again, Grace pushes Drew away, only to be met with Drew’s tenacity or, quite frankly, his alpha-persona. He tends to order her into submission, which can be hot, but it makes you wonder if he is pushing too hard at times. That being said, their evolution clearly shows their growing love for each other which the mainstay of a romance.
Shea’s story. It is really a simple one. She doesn’t need to throw everything at us to understand the beauty of Drew and Grace’s relationship. It flows nicely, and you find yourself wrapped up in Drew and Grace’s progression towards their happy ending. I will say, though, that are some areas that could have used a little fine-tuning. For one, Drew notes his “hardened heart” at one point, but Shea doesn’t develop that prior to that point. It comes as a bit of a surprise. After that moment, we find out more about Drew’s past and it sheds light on his “heart.” For the most part, Drew is your prototypical hero who does everything to win Grace’s heart. Secondly, since Grace’s mother is a big part of her life, I thought she might have made an appearance earlier in the story. It seemed strange that Grace didn’t make phone calls to her mom when she was struggling. I know her best friend, Jamie, is her surrogate family, and Drew’s brother, Aaron, ends up playing a part as family for Grace, but I would have liked to see more development of Grace’s relationship with her mom.
The book has all the tropes I love. Obviously, it has elements of an office romance, but this story is really more about opposites attracting before it ever really is grounded in the forbidden nature of an office romance. In fact, there is nothing forbidden about Drew and Grace. It’s important to realize that before you enter this story. There are other tropes at play that I love in this story, but I’m going to keep them a secret for other readers. Shea’s book offers you so much to Drew and Grace that you can’t help but fall in love with them.
Rebecca Shea’s Unexpectedly Yours challenges readers to acknowledge differences. It’s a story fraught with the troubles of acceptance and self-confidence. For much of the story, Grace doesn’t fully believe that she deserves Drew’s love. Watching her accept his love and fall deeper into it brings both sun and shade, as Drew almost torpedoes their future. However, by the end of the story, the touching development of their relationship reminds us that opposites can fall in love and find their happily-ever-after. Drew’s ability to accept a different future for himself and Gracie’s acceptance of herself as “enough” for him is a marker of reasons we love to read romance. Love ultimately conquers it all.
Unexpectedly Yours is an entertaining read that was very fast-paced and very steamy. While Gracie and Drew had no intention of even seeing each other after a one night stand, much less start a relationship. That all changes the next day when Gracie finds out that Drew is her new boss and Drew realizes he actually can have her after all, and he’s determined to do just that.
Theirs is an instant love connection with Gracie fighting it in the beginning because she’s trying to stay focused on her own personal goals but Drew eventually wins her over. These two have amazing chemistry and make an incredible couple! Great secondary characters and a plot with a low drama level and it’s a win for me!
Brand new release from one of my favorite authors!
One night of unbridled passion.
It was the only thing Andrew McPherson and Grace Morgan could afford.
Intense.
Sexy.
Unforgettable.
They promised they would never see each other again, but fate had other plans.
Andrew’s entire life has been spent working toward one goal—to own the top advertising and public relations company in the world. He’s driven, ruthless when it comes to business, never letting anything stand in his way…until Grace.
Grace has worked hard to build her advertising career. She’s fiercely talented and dedicated to her clients. Grace has no interest in getting involved with a man when she knows her focus should be on her career and paying off her mounting debt.
Andrew knows better than to get involved with a woman who is completely off limits, but he never backs down from what he wants, and he won’t stop until Grace is his…only this might cost him more than he’s willing to give.
LOVED! This was a fast-paced Rom-Com that I absolutely adored! Drew and Grace’s story starts off with a bang and doesn’t stop until the end! I loved watching these two overcome all the obstacles to be with each other! FIVE STARS!!
A brand new romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Rebecca Shea!
Unexpectedly Yours is a feel-good, sweet romance that will have you falling in love with Gracie and Drew from the very start. This is the perfect book to curl up next to a fire and get totally lost in!
Unexpectedly Yours by Rebecca Shea was a sweet and simple love story with a bit of Cinderella story feelings. It talks about finding love instantly and unexpectedly in the most unexpected person.
This book did not feel like a office romance to me honestly. Grace and Drew has a one night stand. And next day Grace finds out that Drew is the owner of the new company that has acquired her company. She already has a lot in her plate due to personal and financial reasons. And she definitely does not need the distraction from a uber rich businessman who is no way in her league. But Drew is sure about the special connection between them and he is determined to make her see that. So starts the endless charming persuasion by Drew. And they have this pretty perfect going till something surprising happens. And Drew cannot react like the perfect guy.
The story line is very simple without much tension or variations. It is about a good guy taking care of a girl who deserves it. Grace is fiercely independent and adamant and stubborn about dealing with her own issues. But Drew constantly showers her with attention and protection and caring. He is really the kind of man every woman dreams of. Their relationship transforms to love from one night stand very quickly without many obstacles. Though I was drooling over and swooning over Drew, I missed the complexity of emotions. They do have sizzling hot chemistry and their loving moments touched my heart. But I felt as if I missed few steps.
If you love reading sweet and dreamy romance without much drama or tension, Unexpectedly Yours by Rebecca Shea is definitely your choice!
Received ARC for Honest review
Drew and Gracie
Gracie is a hardworking, independent woman. She never does the one night stand. That is until the night she does.
Drew is a successful Advertisement agency owner. He is in New York for one day to buy a company. Until the one night stand with Gracie. the next morning there are no strings, right? I highly recommend this book if you enjoy insta love and some seriously hot and steamy scenes. You will also enjoy the side characters. A wonderful read.
“It’s rare that I pick up women in a bar. It’s rare I pick up women at all, but something about her called to me.”
“You’re my bacon.”
” Today was perfect; it was easy and simple. And I loved it. Maybe too much.”
„You know I’m a man who gets what I want, don’t you?”
I’M. IN. LOVE.
Oh, how delightful this book was! Unexpectedly Yours is a perfect combination of insta-love and office romance. It’s unbelievably steamy and heartwarming. Grace and Drew had my heart from the very beginning and I was so immersed in their story that I couldn’t even take a break!
Drew had me in his grasp instantly. His persistence to convince Gracie that they are meant for each other and determination to tear down her walls made me want to get inside this book and snatch him for myself. He’s stubborn, he knows what he wants and he’ll do anything to get it. He’s also caring, attentive and generous. Despite the fact that he faced tremendous betrayal in his life, he saw clearly what fate put in front of him and he knew that he can’t let Gracie slip out of his hands.
Gracie is a smart, independent woman with a lot on her shoulders, but she’s determined to solve her problems on her own. She’s also feisty and doesn’t take anyone’s crap. Her life situation made her convinced that she can’t afford the distraction of a man and that’s exactly why she was so hesitant to develop the relantionship with Drew.
It all started with a night full of passion and unrestrained lust. But their chemistry was totally off the charts and even the obstacles placed in their path couldn’t separate them. Drew and Gracie’s journey to happy ending is a battle of wills, filled with steam so thick that’s completely impossible to see anything beyond the two of them.
Unexpectedly Yours is my first read from Rebecca Shea and it definitely won’t be last! It was fast-paced, low on drama, totally adorable and incredibly sexy. I loved Rebecca’s writing style, the characters were simply wonderful and the storyline was great. I really hope that we’ll get Aaron and Jamie’s book! Drew’s brother and Grace’s bestie piqued my interest and their story is very promising!
This was a perfect low drama, high heat insta love story that was perfect for a lazy afternoon. I loved that Drew could have gone all “white knight” but restrained himself as much as he could. Gracie had some tough breaks and I loved that Drew was willing to help her but not solve all of her problems. Fantastic read!!
This 3 star insta low angst romance has been told many times over. This is the classic story of a one night stand with a walk of shame. Gracie comes into the office after her walk of shame to meet the new owner of the company, Drew. He was her one night stand.
I found that the characters were underdeveloped and I couldn’t connect with them. But what doesn’t work for me might work for another reader.
If the reader is in the mood to read a quick insta-love office romance, this is your story.
Standalone told in a dual POV with HEA.

Unexpectedly Yours by Rebecca Shea is one of those feel-good swoon stories. Being swept off your feet and given the world stories that was just supposed to be a one-night thing. But life isn’t always that simple or easy. Ms. Shea has given us a story that makes you swoon, want to throttle someone and swoon again.
Andrew is living the life he has fallen into, but an agreed-upon night with Grace is what he is accustomed to. But when the table or the conference room table is now between them, what could go wrong?
Andrew wants what he wants and will do about anything to get it or give it.
Grace has worked for everything and has taken the world on her shoulders and doesn’t want help. But when the ever-persistent Andrew keeps stepping in the path of her, what will happen?
This story is a charming story of letting down walls, realizing what you really want, steamy encounters, flirting, life, love and finding happiness through it all.
I need to breath after reading this one… I have so much love for Rebecca Shea! This was such a delete to read!! Rebecca brought it with this one.
* This is a compete standalone!
This is a strange mix of insta love as well as being a co-worker love story. The mix just simply works.
Andrew (Drew) McPherson & Grace (Gracie) Morgan have a hot night of sex after meeting each other in a bar. Surprise, surprise, Gracie is stunned when she find that her new boss is that man that she had a one night stand with.
What I loved about this story was the love that Drew had for Gracie. After one week they both knew that they loved each other. The tenderness of Drew made my heart melt through out this book! However, you know that there always has to be an issue a couple (or it wouldn’t really be a love story, right…). I wanted to smack Drew. He needed to pull his crap together!
Wouldn’t you guess, they both have their HEA. But clearly I am not going to tell you more than that. I know, I know… You can thank me latter.
This was a great book to start off 2020 for me! If you are a Rebecca Shea fan, then you need to read this one. It was a fast read, and an enjoyable read. You will fall hard for these characters, and the side characters (Aaron & Jamie). They have depth and suck you in.
Thank you Rebecca for sharing your characters in this one! I enjoyed this book so much!!
