One night stand full of passion, no promises of tomorrow. Yup, that was until the one night stand turned into so much more.
He said he was in town to buy a business, wasn’t going to be in the city long. She didn’t know it was the business she was currently working for and a job she not only loved but needed very much.
Unexpectedly Yours could have been the comedy of errors love story, but it quickly changed into an instant-love story. While this is not a bad thing, an instant love story, it lost all the hoopla of falling in love, the slow burn, and the need to be together.
Talk about falling hard and fast!! Sweet story with a lot of emotions!
An instant attraction. A one night stand. Gracie works for an advertising company she is the
good girl type. She has had a hard life and decides she will walk on the wild side for one night.
Drew sees Grace in the bar and he knows he wants her. When he finds out she works for the company
he owns he pursues her. Drew is relentless in his pursuit of Grace. He lives a lifestyle she has
never known and is taken with Drew. He is the ultimate alpha chasing her telling her she will
move in with him and not accepting no for an answer. What I do like about Drew is the way
he does care for Grace. The story unfolds about how they mesh their lives and how Grace
adapts to Drew and the love that grows between them. The book is a no cheat low angst read
and of course a HEA. Teddy Hamilton does a great job narrating Drew.
5 Is It Getting Hot In Here Stars!!
I absolutely loved this book by Ms. Shea. Drew and Grace meet one night and thanks to some drinks loosening up their minds and bodies have a night of out of this world passion. Little did either of them know that their lives were about to become entwined in ways they weren’t looking for!
Their connection was strong and as much as they didn’t want to be together, there just wasn’t a way to deny it…at least that’s the way Drew felt…he just needed to get Grace on board! And boy howdy does it do this in grand scale. I’m a huge fan of insta-love stories and this one is right up there on my list. I love how Grace doesn’t let Drew run roughshod on her life and as much as she doesn’t want to love this man, she finds herself falling fast and hard!
Ms. She did a fabulous job of writing an office romance combined with insta-love and it has to be the hottest book she’s EVER written. There’s humor, heart and soul and a connection between our H/h that carries the story from beginning to end. I’m really hoping we’re going to get some of the secondary characters stories in the future!
Just WOW Rebecca Shea! That was the first thing that came to mind when thinking about how to express the enjoyment I had with “Unexpectedly Yours”. So much fun, so much power, so much passion, and so much heat.
Gracie has always worked to get where and what she wanted. Being the alpha gal can put a woman in barren territory sometimes, and one night stands sometimes have hidden meanings when the light of day appears.
Drew is the alpha male that is anything and nothing if not always busy. He has built on the family success and created an empire to be proud of. But as with those that keep their nose to the grindstone, most times there are underlying issues. Hurt and pain still follow him, even if he tries to suppress those issues.
Reading this story reminded me of how often people will not get out of the way to let love in. Logic always goes out the door first when emotions are mixed into a situation. With these two, moving fast is only part of the problem. The rest they are discovering as they go … even the unexpected.
Rebecca Shea paints a picture as clear as the lights that brighten around our characters hearts. She gives them the opportunity to discover what it really means to accept, love and heal. In the end, that was such a powerful gift for them both. What a great story and worth all the stars that can be given.
Five Outstanding Stars
This is by far one of the best office romances I have ever read!!! You will absolutely and completely fall for the alpha, over-controlling, swelteringly sexy Drew McPherson. Gracie Morgan is fiercely independent, strong, snarky and so perfect for Drew. It was only supposed to be a one night stand. Grace was going way out of her comfort zone for her birthday and prodding from her BFF, Jaime who is hilarious. Drew is in town for business and they both agree to a night of passion. Gracie only feels mildly bad that she has to steal his clean laundered shirt the next morning for work and sneaks out as he is still asleep. That is until she comes face to face with him in the conference room at her work and he whispers in her ear, “nice shirt.” Drew is actually in town buying Grace’s company and is now her boss.
Drew knows what he wants and he wants Gracie. And as much as Gracie wants Drew she worries that they come from different places financially and she needs to focus on work and pay off past debts. Well Mr. McSwoony just needs to know that Grace feels the same and Drew is on a mission and wow, so much wow. Their relationship is so much more than the hottest sex ever. They have the best banter and really develop an understanding of what the other one needs. A completely funny, at times emotional, and definitely combustably hot romance that you will love. Easily your next 1 click.

I wasn’t sure about this story with reading the first few chapters but I’m kept reading. I’m glad I did! It turned out to be a great book.
The characters have a strong connection that brings out the feels as their story gets told. There are a few laugh out loud a moments which I really enjoy in a book.
It’s fun, sweet and sexy story. It will captivate your heart from the beginning. I loved the characters I enjoyed the connection and sizzling chemistry. An entertaining read that will you will enjoy.
Gracie and Drew met one night at a bar. The one night she decides to step out of her shell. She never thought she’ll see the hottie again until the next day. Surprise surprise he wants more. This story turned into a beautiful love story of two people from different upbringings that had so much in common. She carried everyone’s struggles on her shoulders and he just wanted to take care of her. He was just the ultimate alpha and she was just so sweet. She was reluctant towards lots of things and Drew always got his way. They helped each other overcome some of their past issues and they were a great team. There was an oops by Drew by the way he reacted towards something but other than that beautiful. And the epilogue?!?! Couldn’t deny loving Drew even more after that epilogue and Gracie was just amazing and deserved all the happiness.
Grace Morgan is not the type of girl to have a one night stand, but that’s exactly what she finds herself doing on the night before her birthday. Little did she know how that would change her life.
Andrew McPherson is used to getting what he wants, and after finding out who his one height stand is he will do anything to see her again.
Andrew is very alpha male, however he is also very caring and sweet when it comes to Grace. He definitely had me swooning in more than once. This book had so many sweet and romantic parts I have many places highlighted. I love the characters and am hoping to maybe see a book for Aaron and Jamie. The only thing I did not like about this book if I had to pick something would be some of the language , but I enjoyed the storyline so much that I just kind of skipped over it. Unexpectedly Yours was a great read, and if you like alpha males that love their women fiercely, and you like sexiness to go along with it. This is the book for you.
Unexpectedly Yours by Rebecca Shea was a great surprise and a book I lost myself in quickly. Gracie and Drew have an unforgettable one-night stand and it should have ended there. But of course, life had other plans! I loved reading about their interactions because once Drew set his sights on her, that was it! Unexpectedly Yours by Rebecca Shea was and office romance with love at first sight and steamy chemistry that was fun and charming to read!
Happy reading!
I thoroughly enjoyed Drew and Gracie’s whirlwind romance. Neither character was looking for love but love found them both. Drew’s control-freak ways are hilarious and although Grace seems to have good intentions, she normally craves and let’s him get his way.
They come from different worlds but soon learn how to mesh their lives together. They waste no time, and why should they. New York is a fast-paced life so they apply that principle to their relationship too.
Drew doesn’t like when things don’t go as planned and Gracie is almost helpless against his little-boy eyes but can’t deny he makes good arguements and seems to always be right. Unexpectedly Yours was a joy to read and listen too. The characters made me smile and laugh and the steam level is a 10 plus in this book.
This was my first audiobook and it was an awesome experience. For much of the book, I read along while listening and really enjoyed reading this way. I loved the narrator’s. They did an excellent job portraying the emotions of the characters and kept me interested from start to finish.
I look forward to Aaron and Jamie’s story, which I hope the author has planned. I especially love the thick New Yorker accent of Jamie and hope the narrator of her book pulls it off.
Unexpectedly Yours was an enjoyable quick read. Our main characters enjoy a hot one night stand, only to discover that Andrew is Grace’s new boss. What ensues is a steamy relationship between the two and whilst the story was far to insta-love for my tastes, there is no denying that these two had some great sexual chemistry. There’s a little angst and drama thrown in towards the end but overall a nice easy quick read.
3.5 stars
I was provided with a copy of this book from the publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.
I was happy to see a new read from Ms. Shea hit the shelves. I love her writing style.
Drew and Gracie are from two different worlds. When one night turns into so much more Gracie isn’t sure how to handle things. Drew knows that they are meant to be, but Gracie fights it every step of the way.
There is something so endearing about Drew and the way that he wants Gracie to see herself as he sees her. She has led a hard life and has lost everyone dear to her and always is waiting for the next person to leave. Drew fights her at every turn to see the woman that he loves.
The story was an office romance with almost an insta-love feeling. Drew was pretty dreamy as he pursued Gracie. I did find the pace of things a little quick for me and the issue at the end was solved pretty quickly and to me I would have liked to have seen it drawn out a bit more. It was still a good read and I enjoyed it.
This was my first book by Rebecca Shea and I should kick myself for not reading her sooner. So that means I will now have to go back and binge-read everything she has written.
I have always believed in love at first sight, but I’m a hopeless romantic like that. You see that certain someone and something in your spirit just knows. Drew knows and Gracie is about to learn.
Imagine trying to pull yourself out of a hole, but instead, you keep falling deeper and deeper. Kinda like the crab syndrome. As soon as you think you can see the top you get pulled back down to start all over again. That would be Gracie.
Picture lying in bed with a beautiful woman you picked up in a bar, but something tells you this is not a one night stand. Only to discover the next morning you are alone. But fate, being what it puts you back in this woman’s life.
Rebecca was able to give a whirlwind office romance that was believable. I felt a connection between the characters immediately. I love an alpha take charge man and a woman that can stand her own with him. In Unexpectedly Yours we got both.
There was everything you could want in this story. Laughter, tears, anger, confusion and a HEA! What a great, fun read!
I’m going to go in this saying that if I’m going to read an office romance, actually let me say any fun romance, I’m going to turn to Rebecca Shea. I hope she never quits writing them. They are always fun, fast reads for me and usually a much needed break from the heavier stuff I gravitate toward.
The characters were fun to get to know even when I felt we didn’t get to know them on a deep level. Rebecca gave us just enough background to understand any hesitation or doubt. I really loved Grace for putting her foot down about taking care of her “problems” on her own and not just letting this hot guy come in and fix everything for her. On the flip side, I have to give love to Drew for respecting that even when I felt like he was a bulldozer at times. Jamie was a breath of fresh air and added just the amount of laughs and of course fierce protector of her best friend to make you wish she was your best friend. I’m on the fence on how I feel about Aaron but I have to say I’m curious about his story to see if I could grow to love him.
Things felt a bit rushed for me, especially in the last 3-4 chapters but when you put the pace of the story from beginning to end I get why things were resolved so quickly to end the story. Things moved very quickly in this one from the very first page. All in all this was a fun read so if you’re looking for something to read over a weekend I have no doubts this one will do the trick.
OMG I loved this story! After meeting and having a one-night stand, Gracie and Drew go their separate ways, only to find out hours later that Drew is Gracie’s new boss. While she tries to move past it, although she has already definitely developed feelings and chemistry with him, Drew doesn’t take no for an answer after having feelings towards her that he’s never had before and continues to work towards breaking down her walls any way that he can. Things definitely progress fast between these two regarding their relationship because of Drew’s tenacity and because of Gracie’s past and background, it makes it difficult (with reason) for her to fully trust in Drew, but when she does their relationship is seamless and amazing. While I loved the storyline, there wasn’t much drama until the end, where a surprise for the couple ends up dividing them and Gracie runs. Thankfully they have friends and family who understand each other them and support them and work to get them back together. While I felt the drama part of things was pretty rushed in the end, overall I really loved and enjoyed this book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A one night stand… never to be repeated, if only life was that easy!!
My first read from Rebecca Shea and I like her style.
Her characters are witty, charming, sweet and oh so swoon-worthy!
This book was highly entertaining, a page-turner from the very beginning. Grace and Drew have a chemistry that just sizzles off the pages, they can’t get enough of each other. They shouldn’t work but it’s obvious from the very start there is no stopping Drew once he sets his sights on someone.
He’s a bossy, take charge type of guy and he’s exactly what Gracie needs. Someone who will care for her as she selflessly takes care of everyone else.
A charming love story that will have you believing in true romance and instant love connections.

Drew and Grace meet at a bar on Grace’s bday. Always responsible, Grace lets loose for once and has a one-night stand with him… until they encounter each other again the next morning. Drew wants Grace and offers an ultimatum- five days instead of just the one night. She gives in, and five days becomes more.
The writing was good, and I especially liked Gracie (who’s been through a lot in her life) and the supporting characters- especially Drew’s mom , Gracie’s best friend Jamie, and her neighbor Aaron. Drew was too pushy (beyond alpha) for my tastes, which is made more evident because, as a reader, we have access to Gracie’s second thinking and hesitance (which she certainly voices, as well).
If you are looking for a fast read of an office romance with a wealthy, overbearing hero and an honest, normal heroine, I highly recommend this one. The lost stars are due to Drew’s controlling pushiness, which was not to my personal tastes, and not due to the writing or the overall storyline.
