I had lots of fun reading this starting with page one through to the end. The characters are well developed and engaging and storyline flowed smoothly. The couple knew each other prior to coming together now what ensures is a roller coaster of fun.

From the opening pages to the very last paragraph, Kimberly Readnour takes the reader on a journey of finding love even when deception and lies are a factor. The story of Staci and Kyle will make you laugh out loud in some sections and wipe tears from your eyes and others, the perfect emotional combination. Can the decisions you make in your past influence the happiness you find in the future? In Kyle’s case – YES. A wonderful combination of beautifully written characters and a storyline you will not want to end.
The well flowing plot was well written and well planned and the strongly written characters were very likable, believable and engaging which kept me totally engrossed in the story throughout the entire book!
Staci has made a pact with herself to concentrate on her professional life which means focusing on grad school only, and finding a new job as she suddenly finds herself in need of one. Not to mention her most recent one-night stand ended a little differently than planned. Thank goodness she’s never going to see him again. Yeah, you and I both know she just jinxed herself which means of course their paths will cross again…and it comes in the form of Kyle being her new boss.
Kyle is a nerd and embraces it. Gaming? Loves it. Computers? They’re the best. Being smart and good at what he does, Kyle also tends to be quite stubborn, but he has a heart of gold and always acts with the best of intentions.
Seemingly opposites in every way, they’re so far from each other’s types, yet the attraction is strong and Staci feels safe with him, as if he’s familiar, which is weird considering they just met. Kyle knows their night together didn’t go as he’d hoped, seeing as how he woke up alone, but he can’t understand why Staci seems so mad about it.
As they work together, getting to really know the other person, the connection between them continues to grow, yet both are leery of acting on it for various reasons. As for Staci, she’s worried about being hurt again, especially as their last encounter, as what he said, is so fresh in her mind. For Kyle, he’s keeping something from Staci that could change everything…especially how she’s started to feel about him.
Will Kyle ever learn why Staci seems so upset about their attempted union? Can he explain to Staci what actually happened and her realize the truth in his words? What secret is he keeping? Why does he seem so familiar?
One-click now and follow along as two people with an intense chemistry try to act on it, only for one to leave a terrible first impression before it reaches it’s expected conclusion. I like that this story contains flashbacks throughout, letting us see glimpses of what the secret may be, as well as what went wrong during their attempted one-night stand instead of just implying what happened. I think the way the author wrote these two characters is what helped make their connection believable, while at the same time letting us see their struggles with what was, could, and did happen between them. What I didn’t care for was the heroine still seeming to be infatuated with Brian, an ex of hers that really wanted her best friend, Kayla, instead. I don’t want to read about either character feeling for someone else what they should only experience with each other.- By Elizabeth
This was my first time reading Kimberly Readnour but I was very interested based on the synopsis she gave us. Staci & Kyle certainly seemed like a fun match and I couldn’t wait to see how their story unfolded.
Staci is someone I would classify as a fun person – if she was real I would absolutely want to be friends with her. When we first meet her she is put in an awkward situation that would make most of us hide in embarrassment. So when she manages to barely avoid her failed one night stand the next day – only to run into him again later when she discovers that he is her new boss – well that is just the icing on top of the awkward cake. Watching their relationship go from awkward & tense, to friends, to more was interesting and exhilarating. Just when you are sure that they will work out – secrets are uncovered that could result in the end of their friendship.
The author really pulls the emotions from the reader; I laughed, I swooned, I got mad & I got sad. The story pulls the audience in from the first page and you will not want to stop reading. This is the second book in this series (following Impossible Love) but it can be read as a standalone.
I thought it was heartbreaking the way Staci and Kyle were manipulated by the same man so many years ago. Their past was connected so deeply, and Kyle never forgot her.
I loved the way they finally reconnected even though they had so many obstacles to conquer. Lots of backstories to deal with with Staci’s first unrequited love, Brian and how Kyle suffered through her lingering feelings for him.
I really liked Kyle and the way the author showed his naive trust in Steve that was based on his childhood memories. I really wished for some kind of punishment for Staci’s father who was truly horrible all her life. The blood thirsty part of me really wanted justice for all he put her through. The author was a lot more forgiving and gentle than I would have been.

When you think all hope is gone
Kimberly Readnour has done it again in book 2 of her Unforeseen Destiny Series
Kayla was always more reserved while Staci was bit of a wild child, but that is what made their bond of friendship work so well. Now that Kayla has found love and moved 4000 miles away, Staci has to find her own way. Staci is a trust fund baby and has never had to work things out for herself, however when her mom falls on hard times she has to get a job to cover her extra expenses. When her absent father appears she wants no dealings with him. He tells her he just wants to make amends and he is sorry for not being there for her, however he has ulterior motives and they are not good. Staci has been with her share of men and part of that is she won’t let herself get attached due to separation issues caused by her father.
When Staci has a one night stand that doesn’t go so well, she swears off sex and decides it is time to get her life on track. She never thought she would see this guy again. When their paths cross she finds there is a connection to him that is so strong she can not just walk away. Kyle is handsome, but Staci swears he is not her type. As they move forward she finds out his true identity and realizes he has not been honest with her as well, and he too has fallen prey to her conniving father. This tears her apart, but her conscious keeps telling her to listen an trust him, he only has her best interest at heart.
Will they be able to get pass the deceit an lies and conquer the love that is all but obvious between them.
This story tells of family deceit and how one persons actions can affect others in the life they lead. You don’t want to out on enjoying this book.
I loved this book. This story kept me intrigued and I found myself reading”just one more chapter” until late a few nights. Staci and Kyle were relatable characters who I really enjoyed getting to know. I especially appreciated the nod to nurse practitioners as the heroine was in graduate school working toward hers. Hopefully Bree will be next….that poor girl needs a real man!
Unexpected Love, the second book in An Unforeseen Destiny Series, is another wonderful story by Author Kimberly Readnour. I really enjoyed the story of Staci and Kyle…a reconnection story that developed over years, a story of broken dreams, lost love, and bad parenting. It is a story of getting back something you always wanted, and getting answers to lingering questions. It is also a story of deceit and overcoming your past, of friendships and building trust. This storyline is well written and very deep at points.
The characters in this story are great. I liked the main characters as well as the supportive characters. This book had me laughing out loud, loving, cringing and heartbroken. The first book in the series (Impossible Love) doesn’t need to be read first, but it explains Kayla’s story!
Unexpected Love story is just that, UNEXPECTED! I am going to be kind of short in this review because I do not want to give anything away, so please excuse the vagueness.
*This can be read as a standalone.
Unexpected Love is this sweet romance, that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story flowed at a nice pace, and this author did a nice job of investing me into Staci and Kyle’s story. From the chemistry to the mystery, these characters held true and made true character development.
Staci is a sassy woman who lives for one night stands. She is hard headed with an outgoing personality. Determination that could win awards, she is very career oriented.
Kyle is a nerd of all nerds, with a love of gaming and a career in not only computers, he is a one man show, that holds determination that could be set in world records. He has a heart of gold, and always has the best of intentions.
You do not want to miss Staci and Kyle’s story, against all odds can they surpass even their own expectations?
*I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK
This book was so good! I wondered about Staci during the first book of this series and her story definently did not dissapoint! After we find out what actually happened between her and Brian God what a douchebag! So we open this book to a glimpse of the past about a boy named Ben and girl named Lynnie and that will totally begin to make sense as we are sent forth on the journey that is Kyle and Staci’s story. There is intrigue and deception and one hell of a villain and I devoured every sentence! I hated that it has to end I wanted to know more. The ending was fabulous and brought us back to Kai and Kayle from book one. Here is hoping Staci’s roommate gets her own story and it doesn’t involve jackass Jake!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An enjoyable well written opposites attract love story. This unexpected romance had me engaged with secrets, suspense, laughter, tears, loes, deception and love. A truly entertaining rollercoaster with well developed interesting characters that have an undeniable attraction and chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this terrific unexpected romance.
Terrific Story & Audible Listen Sweet & Heartfelt!
Unexpected Love
Unforeseen Destiny, Book 2
By: Kimberly Readnour
Narrated by: Addison Barnes
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is a sweet and heartfelt story that captured my heart and my attention from start to end. Kimberly Readnour is a gifted author, she created interesting storylines that was realistic and easy to relate to. The characters are complex and nicely developed. Staci Lynn Benson does not have a great history with men, so when her one-night stand does not rock her world has promised she vows to changer her ways and stay away from men. When one job does not pan out her roommate mentions there may be a job opening in the coffee shop where she works. The manager hires Staci on the spot, but she is not too happy to find out who her boss is, her disappointing one night stand. Kyle Slade inherited the Coffee shop from his grandparents, he is trying to run that, work a second job and coding as well. When he sees Staci is the new hire he happy to see her, but she is not so forgiving and gives him snark and a hard time. I loved the chemistry between the two and it was great when they finally rekindled the spark. Because of the prologue and a few subtle hints I had a pretty good idea who Kyle was but I kept wondering what his deal was and why was he holding back, what was he hiding. I liked how everything plays out in this book, it is very we’ll plotted, with plenty of drama, both family and relationship, some angst, great humor, twists and turns, some heartfelt and emotional moments and hot ones too. Kimberly Rednour, thank you for the great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Addison Barnes is a terrific narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. She does a great job portraying the characters and projecting their emotions into her her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen
