As good as the first book in this series, it held my interest and kept me reading past midnight.
This is a different kind of book; the main theme has to do with spiritualism and talking with the dead. However, the characters are interesting and there is a story that winds through a powerful duo who dupe local folks into thinking they are talking with past relatives. The main character is a strong willed woman who sets out to save a friend …
I just love these great historical mystery romances. The strength of the female characters is an inspiration for us all. They don’t rely on men, but work with them in partnership. Good lessons for today actually.
I enjoyed reading it and perched another in the series
Can’t put it down, good read on a cold night.
Enjoy all her books. Like the historical SF Bay Area setting and the clever female heroine. Plus, we’ll written and what’s better than free.
Great series, love the historical setting and varied characters
Louisa Locke has a lock on witty and entertaining non-gory mysteries. This one was another winner.
Another enchanting tale by M. Louisa Locke. Offers insight into San Francisco’s Victorian era. The characters are now old friends.
Deceptive mystiscism turns Annie the finacial fortunteller back to her investigative ways. Of course dragging her fiance and the irish maid along!
Her progressive nosiness is becoming life threatening and she faces dilemas far deeper than Annie’s friends and boarders would like. Self doubt and past regrets war with her desire to help a young girl …
It was good to revisit old friends (the recurrent characters). Lots of twists and turns. Look forward to reading other books in this series.
This was an enjoyable book – sometimes, sometimes not (when it gave me the creeps!) On the whole, it kept my attention, and I liked the characters. It took me to a different time and that was nice. I have read some of the other books in this series and always enjoy reading them.
Great characters.
I liked this book it certainly kept you on your toes and the different stories played out and then you moved on to the next hair raiser. Never boring
Love this historical mystery series. Wonderful characters, historic details, and original story.
It was an enjoyable read. I liked the setting and details.
I like reading historical fiction as it gives a view of life in past times. This writer has a way of weaving a view of life at a particular time in history into an enjoyable story. The characters become believable, and recognizable throughout her books.
The second book in the Victoria San Francisco mysteries series. I truly enjoy this series of cozy mysteries. This book was a bit more exciting than the first and definitely had some extra twists. This time around, I had an idea of “who dunnit” but couldn’t grasp the entirety of it until the end.
I was disappointed that there was more swearing in …
I love this whole series!
Entertaining and interesting. Kept you wanting to keep reading. I do enjoy her book’s. I like to read book’s that are set before technology was available.
