One former Navy SEAL. One dedicated archeologist. One secret map to a fabulous lost oasis.Finding undiscovered treasures is always daring, dangerous, and deadly. Perfect for the men of Treasure Hunter Security. Former Navy SEAL Declan Ward is haunted by the demons of his past and throws everything he has into his security business–Treasure Hunter Security. Dangerous archeological digs – no … archeological digs – no problem. Daring expeditions – sure thing. Museum security for invaluable exhibits – easy. But on a simple dig in the Egyptian desert, he collides with a stubborn, smart archeologist, Dr. Layne Rush, and together they get swept into a deadly treasure hunt for a mythical lost oasis. When an evil from his past reappears, Declan vows to do anything to protect Layne.
Dr. Layne Rush is dedicated to building a successful career–a promise to the parents she lost far too young. But when her dig is plagued by strange accidents, targeted by a lethal black market antiquities ring, and artifacts are stolen, she is forced to turn to Treasure Hunter Security, and to the tough, sexy, and too-used-to-giving-orders Declan. Soon her organized dig morphs into a wild treasure hunt across the desert dunes. Danger is hunting them every step of the way, and Layne and Declan must find a way to work together…to not only find the treasure but to survive.
Note to readers: This action-adventure romance contains a lot of action (think treasure hunts and wild chases across the desert), cool offsiders (sexy former Navy SEALs) and a steamy romance (lots of sexy times between a former SEAL and a smart archeologist). This is treasure hunting Navy SEAL style. So if you like it fast, and fun, and sexy, this is for you!

“The Mummy” meets “Tomb Raider” meets one bad@$$ Navy SEAL “Indiana Jones” mix.
I ADORED this story!! Declan and Layne took me on an adventure with them where I could feel the sand blowing against my skin, feel the heat beating down on me, experience the rush of uncertainty, breathe in the relief, and feel the sizzle of spark between them. I loved the mix of history weaved in with adventure, a hunt, and a touch of suspense. They played off each other well, both strong and smart and vulnerable in their own ways, perfectly mixing together into something amazing.
This was the perfect length – once I started I couldn’t stop!! (perfect to be read in one longish sitting, but yet fully developed and detailed and amazing)
With a start to the series like this, I absolutely cannot wait to read the rest of the team’s stories. I’m ready for more!!
After reading Mrs Anna Hackett new series Team 52, I had to read the series that began everything.
And I loved it as much as the Team 52 series, it is contemporary as I love it, far from billionaire and office, action packed with alpha heroes with big heart and no jerk attitude associated with strong and smart heroines far from the usual damsel-in-distress.
As for Team 52, even if it was written before, all the characters have deep scars left from past battles, physical and mental, after the men built walls around them while the women use them to better themselves.
Declan lives with a deep guilt to have been unable to bring a murderer to justice and since follows the trail of the bodies left behind.
Layne shaped her life to honor the memories of her parents, she has become an archeologist because of the love for history they have shared with her.
From the moment they meet, each one rubs on the skin of the other, and at the same time they ignite things they thought impossible or not for now.
Together while escaping grave robbers and murders, they follow the tracks of a mystical city and found in another their other half.
The book that started my Treasure Hunter Security obsession. Anna Hackett is now my number one 1-click author.
Treasure Hunter Security is a newly formed organisation which, using the expertise of its former military specialists, protects archaeological digs and their workers around the globe. Former SEAL Declan Ward s the son of a famed treasure hunter and an archaeologist. He grew up around the world of ancient history and he is as comfortable in a musty dig site as he was in the thick of action in his Navy days. When he and his colleagues are contracted to secure a new dig, little did he realise that he was about to take the biggest adventure yet – falling in love!!
Dr. Layne Rush is a total history hottie! She forgets the rest of the world exists when she is on the hunt and she has never really been good at relationships. She prefers it when her friends have been dead for a few centuries! But when she is attacked and a relic stolen she bows to pressure and the security team moves is. She soon learns that there is more to the large, muscled, ex-SEAL than brawn. When they are once again attacked she and Declan are isolated from the rest of the team and are wept up in the race to secure a huge trove of priceless artefacts.
But a ghost from Declan’s past is involved and the danger has just increased to a deadly level!
I LOVED this series. I read all of the authors sci-fi work so this was a new genre to tackle from her. I’m a huge Indiana Jones fan and this was a wonderful take on the same kind of world. I love all things ancient so I loved getting swept up in the history and myths of ancient Egypt. There is a great mix of action, adventure, passion and a little “divine intervention”. The characters are complex and have a back history and are not just 2 dimensional. We get to meet most of the crew from THS and I’m chomping at the bit to read the rest of the series now. Dec’s mum and dad are totally kickass!!! This book reads like a movie and I read it all in one go cos I could not out it down!
Very good book. Easy to read , page turner. Action packed. Even the tuff & stand on their own types can find someone.. & fall fast & hard!!
This was the first book I read by Anna Hackett. I was blown away and instantly in love with well everything.
The seting was amazing, the characters were spot on for their careers. The detail was great, the bad guys were-bad. The adventure was awesome. The romance was HOTT…
I went on to read all the books in this series.
I am so glad I ran across this one as a free offer on a well known book site.
Thank you, Anna Hackett.
A great action packed read full of suspense
I loved it!
Love this series! Exciting and romantic at the same time
Enjoyed the story, characters, Egyptian history, adventure, the dog’s intervention was clever, for the bad guys, saved the good guy. An excellent read.
Wow, what thrilling, action packed adventure! Archeologist, Dr. Layne Rush is running a dig, looking for ancient artifacts in the Egyptian desert when she is attacked and robbed. Her boss has hired Treasure Hunter Security to protect Layne and her expedition. Layne isn’t happy to have people trampling her delicate operation. Declan Ward is a former Navy SEAL and now runs his security business with his family. He is haunted by his own demons, but the sexy, prickly archeologist makes him forget all his reasons for being alone. Soon the sight is ambushed and they are forced to flee to save their lives. But sand storms, and mysterious clues make them start to believe in mythical places. Soon it is a race against time to find hidden treasure before the deadly thieves find them. This was a fast paced, exciting story. It challenged the imagination and was really alot of fun thanks to Stella Bloom’s fabulous narration. She delivered all the excitement, emotion, wit, and steam perfectly. Her ability to bring these characters and story to life was amazing. I especially loved the way she brought Layne from dedicated to her work and career, to a passionate explorer and woman. This was a great start to the Treasure Hunter Security series and I am excited to listen to the next books!
Original review: https://myshelfbooks.wordpress.com/2019/02/03/undiscovered-anna-hackett/
Anna Hackett has been on my radar for quite a long time, but there were always some other book that took precedence and her work was being constantly pushed to the lowest positions of my TBR list. One of the main reasons was that I thought her books were most of them about Sci-Fi Romance, a genre I don’t pick very often. But, not so long ago I discovered that she has a saga about treasure hunters. I read the blurb and I knew I had to get my hands on them. Yes, this book has been my particular “Undsicovered”.
This books tells the story of Dr. Layne Rush, an archeologist who is digging a new discovery in Egypt. Sadly, the dig site is hit by some mercenaries and several of the relics are stolen. The University she works for hires Treasure Hunter Security to take care of the security (the company name says it all). It’s a company formed mostly by former soldiers (young, tall, muscular… you know, the whole romance package) and the owner, Declan, is the one that takes charge of the security of Layne’s work. She is not happy at first, but some flirting and life or death situations make her a believer…
I love the book as a whole. It’s more or less what the author promises and then some: lots of action and fun exchanges. There is always something hapenning in the book, which is its main strength to keep the reader entertained. When I saw the length of the book, I was afraid that the action and adventure parts would be shortened to leave more room for the romance; but it’s actually the opposite. There are hand-to-hand fights, pursuits through the desert, riddle solving and treasure hunting in general. No rest means more fun.
But it’s not just mindless action and eye candiness galore. My greatest surprise with this book were the several facts the author teaches us about Zerzura and Egyptian mythology in general. I was an utter newbie in the lost oasis legend and this book has made me check the Internet to read more about Zerzura and the expeditions to find it. A book that makes me learn something will always be a special book on my shelf. I wasn’t expecting it at all (it didn’t look like the book to enhance my Trivial Pursuits skills), so that has been a huge help to make me enjoy the story. Don’t get me wrong, without the beginner class about Zerzura, the book would still have been a really fun ride.
The characters are nothing out of the ordinary, but they fulfill their roles quite nicely, even though there are certains details that felt more unnatural than others. Layne is presented to us as a very independent woman who takes no bullshit and is capable of defending herself at any moment. At least that must be true when Declan is not around. When the former soldier is on the scene, Layne is usually reduced to a damsel in distress, so the leader of Treasure Hunter Security can polish more often his White Knight armor. I would never hate on that too strongly, otherwise I would never read Romance books, but it is something that has always rub me the wrong way. They are fun together, so I can easily forgive that misstep.
The romance itself is the weakest link of the story. At first is being brewed very slowly, as I like it. But when Hell is broken loose, the relationship speeds up so drastically that I felt dizzy. We go from a passionate kiss to “I love you” in barely a couple of chapters. I’m having a hard time to believe they have developed such strong feelings in such a short time. They barely know each other!! I know that under duress stuff is intensified, but it was too much too soon. And don’t make me start about the places they pick to keep themelves warm in a very intimate way (or to have sex, if you are not feeling poetic today). Naked time in those waters doesn’t seem a wise decision. You never know what kind of leeches or bacteria could be on those undiscovered places… I guess I’m not the adventurous type…
Very happy for having decided to start this saga. If this is what I’m going to get with the rest of it, I’m going to be a very pleased reader this year!
Dr. Layne Rush has discovered a new tomb in Egypt with a lot of valuable artifacts, including one that talks about the legendary oasis of Zerzura. When a group of men attack and steal the artifacts Treasure Hunter Security is called in to help security the current dig site and to recover what was stolen. Declan Ward is on the hunt for the men and the artifacts but doesn’t know what to make of the smart and stubborn Dr. Rush.
I forgot how much I loved this series! This book has some of my favorite things in the world: archeology, Ancient Egypt, lost history, treasure hunting, and a lot of action-romance. I am so glad I am taking the time to reread this series!
Declan and Layne were such a smart and sexy couple. I loved Declan. He was strong, dependable, and very supportive of Layne’s career. I love that him and his family has a whole business about protecting archeological digs and artifacts. Declan has shut himself off from feeling after so many missions while a SEAL but Layne shows him how to live again. She makes him open his eyes and see the world he has been missing.
“She just burned with life, with passion, and he wanted to feel that every day. Wanted to see her smile, wanted to kiss her every day.”
Layne was smart, capable, and totally rocking the Indiana Jones vibe. I loved her and I want to be her. I have always wanted to be an archeologist and love anything to do with Egypt. She isn’t afraid to stand up to Declan or tell him how she feels, she even slugs him a few times (which I loved).
I quite adored these two. I really hope they pop up in future books because I can’t get enough of them (I don’t really remember if they do FYI). I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and see the Ward siblings fall in love and discover new treasure.
Interesting plot with a bit of action and a lot of passion mixed in. Likeable characters and descriptive writing make this a page turner. Can be read as a stand alone, no cliffhanger.
If you like strong, intelligent alpha males that respect and appreciate strong, intelligent, independent females. If you like archaeology and history. If you like romance. If you don’t have time for a full length novel but want a short novel with plenty of action and a HEA this series is for you.
Interesting but Rachel Grant’s Evidence series has spoiled me for books about archeology. This was ok.
Fun read!
This is my kind of book after the first page I am hooked. I read daily on the train to & from work. This book had lines I laughed out loud, parts o could hardly read fast enough. This had my attention to the very end.
Good romance. Supernatural things happen that aren’t believable but a good read.
I’m a fan of this author. I’ve enjoyed her work on another series. This bored me due to lack of excitement. Loved the world and characters though.
