Jane Delaney does things her paying customers can’t do, don’t want to do, don’t want to be seen doing, can’t bring themselves to do, and/or don’t want it to be known they’d paid someone to do. To dead people.Life gets complicated for Jane and her Death Diva business when she’s hired to liberate a gaudy mermaid brooch from the corpse during a wake—on behalf of the rightful owner, supposedly. Well, … supposedly. Well, a girl’s got to make a living, and this assignment pays better than scattering ashes, placing flowers on graves, or bawling her eyes out as a hired mourner. Unfortunately for Jane, someone else is just as eager to get his hands on that brooch, and he’s even sneakier than she is, not to mention dangerously sexy.
Just when she thinks her biggest problem is grand theft mermaid, things take a murderous turn. But hey, when you’ve teamed up with a neurotic seven-pound poodle named Sexy Beast, how can you go wrong?

You become really involved in her development of the plot and characters. I immediately got another one of her books to read due to how interesting I found this one.
Sometimes you just gotta have some brain candy, and this book filled that craving. I enjoyed the kooky main character, and the author did a great job of misleading the reader multitudes of times, just to keep up the interest. I enjoyed the mental romp; reminds me a lot of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum and her craziness. I recommend it.
Loved this book! Loved the main character Jane Delaney! If you’re a fan of Janet Evanovich or Josie Brown, add this to your reading list.
It was a very good read.
Really like the way Pamela Burford writes. Read 3 books in 2 days because I was under the weather. Thoroughly enjoyed the characters and her sense of humor. Quirky
I laughed until my sides hurt. This was one of the most original stories I have read. On top of the surprising career of the protagonist, there was a good mystery plot that kept me guessing. It was an all around good read.
enjoyed the characters good who dun it
Enjoyed the characters so much had to purchase the next books in the series.
This is a funny, light hearted quick read with a dark sense of humor thrown in.
FANTASTIC
I think it’s a wonderful plot. Death Diva is original and witty, humorous
It’s not simple but complex with twists. A great whodunnit & Sexy Beast is just too cute !
Fun easy read. Fell apart at the end
Great read. So much like Janet Evanevich.
I had to give this book time, but once I got past the “Brooklyn/Long Island” type remarks (I spend my summers in Brooklyn with my grandparents) I realized that this was another must finish this book because I won’t sleep otherwise. Thank God I am retired and can make those decisions, but if I was still working, I would have stayed up to finish it. It was so good, I had to get the next book in the series! Thank you Pamela Burford.
If you like Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series you’ll love Jane Delaney series.
Interesting premise and twists you don’t expect. Funny main character.
Loved this book.
Great read. Not your typical mystery.
This book has it all ….. great plot that twists about. Funny, realistic characters and the author just knows how to spin a tale. It is a great read!
Absolutely hilarious!
