Jane Delaney does things her paying customers can’t do, don’t want to do, don’t want to be seen doing, can’t bring themselves to do, and/or don’t want it to be known they’d paid someone to do. To dead people.Life gets complicated for Jane and her Death Diva business when she’s hired to liberate a gaudy mermaid brooch from the corpse during a wake—on behalf of the rightful owner, supposedly. Well, … supposedly. Well, a girl’s got to make a living, and this assignment pays better than scattering ashes, placing flowers on graves, or bawling her eyes out as a hired mourner. Unfortunately for Jane, someone else is just as eager to get his hands on that brooch, and he’s even sneakier than she is, not to mention dangerously sexy.
Just when she thinks her biggest problem is grand theft mermaid, things take a murderous turn. But hey, when you’ve teamed up with a neurotic seven-pound poodle named Sexy Beast, how can you go wrong?

I enjoyed this book more than I had anticipated. Many unexpected twists.
I want more of Jane and her wacky world!
Fun book, easy read and entertaining. Can’t wait to read more!
This light, witty book was a fun read. Highly recommend!
Fun read. Interesting writing style.
The write has a way with words, entertaining and still a mystery twist. Very funny, laugh out loud moments. Mystery of who done it.
Not your typical “cozy”, Undertaking Irene frequently made me laugh, with just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Book starts out with ex-husband’s mother dying. Heroine is attending the funeral & is shocked to see the dearly departed getting out of the coffin during the service, Turns out she is the only one who see’s the “ghost” who is the most hated woman in town. Book continues with the ex mother-in-law popping up unexpectedly at the most inopportune times. Later we find she was actually murdered and the heroine can’t get rid of her ghost until her murderer is found so the heroine is trying to figure out who did it. We are introduced to her gal pals in this book and in subsequent books their stories are being told. The book can be classified as a mystery/romance as there is an attraction to a handsome stranger who helps her solve the crime
Ditzy. It tried to be funny but wasn’t. I couldn’t finish it- unusual for me.
Fun read..
A little too silly. Didn’t bother to read past the first two chapters.
Undertaking Irene didn’t blow me away, but it gets marks for coming up with an unusual career for our heroine. She’s sassy, unflinching in some very twisted circumstances and there are laughs, snorts, and giggles enough to take this up on another boring quarantined Covid day.
Interesting plot
Language was unacceptable. Didn’t finish chapter 1 even tho the story sounded like a good one.
Easy read and somewhat entertaining
So nice I read it twice (didn’t realize I had read it prior to ordering, but read it again anyway – it was fun).
I sort of enjoyed this book because the story was interesting and clever. BUT…….
The reason I only gave it 3 stars was the main character. She apparently was supposed to be cute and adorable. Unfortunately, for me she came across as mostly clueless and sex starved. When I don’t find the character engaging it makes the book far less enjoyable.
Read it for the story if you think you can get past the main character.
would consider reading more by this author.
I couldn’t predict any aspect of this book. I had to keep reading to find out “who-done-it.”
just not my kind of book
