Jane Delaney does things her paying customers can’t do, don’t want to do, don’t want to be seen doing, can’t bring themselves to do, and/or don’t want it to be known they’d paid someone to do. To dead people.Life gets complicated for Jane and her Death Diva business when she’s hired to liberate a gaudy mermaid brooch from the corpse during a wake—on behalf of the rightful owner, supposedly. Well, … supposedly. Well, a girl’s got to make a living, and this assignment pays better than scattering ashes, placing flowers on graves, or bawling her eyes out as a hired mourner. Unfortunately for Jane, someone else is just as eager to get his hands on that brooch, and he’s even sneakier than she is, not to mention dangerously sexy.
Just when she thinks her biggest problem is grand theft mermaid, things take a murderous turn. But hey, when you’ve teamed up with a neurotic seven-pound poodle named Sexy Beast, how can you go wrong?

It was an easy to read, fun book.
This book was so fun I couldn’t put it down. A very entertaining read.
Enjoyed the interesting characters.
It’s a funny, fast-paced book built for entertainment, introducing characters that have a little more range and spark than the usual comedy. Good for nights on which you want a pleasant read with no angst.
I love this series. The first one is free so you can check it out. I bought the 2nd and am about to click on #3. Wonderful funny writing, engaging characters. Perfect for right now or whenever you need to laugh a little and still want to turn those pages.
I received my first Jane Delaney Mystery as a free e-book. Enjoyed it so much I immediately went and bought all the other Pamela Burford books!
Murder was “solved” and then took a turn in an unexpected direction. Full of levity. Unusual career choice of main character.
I gave this book 5 stars because I think it is excellent in it’s own field. I totally enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who likes Stephanie Plum books.
great read, lots of chuckles and intregue
easy reader, with a touch of smart aleck banter 🙂
This is what I needed after a stressful week. A thriller filled with unique characters, a romantic side story and a fun read. Looking at the authors other works for my next Friday read.
The premise of the story was very interesting and entertaining. I enjoyed the characters as well.
I enjoyed this book.
What. Delight,! Intriguing, clever, great images and play on words. A PERFECT BOOK!
Easy reading and a page turner. The characters were likable and funny.
situational-humor, verbal-humor, murder
Great fun with a creative protagonist, nearly constant laughs, and a far out plot!
This was an intelligent comedy with great characters. I highly recommend it.
This was a great light hearted mystery that was a delightful read. The main character, Jane, is refreshingly real even if the circumstances of the story are a little unreal. A very good book to read at the end of a day to just get your mind off of troubles or worries.
Pretty derivative of Janet Evanovich, but fun anyway!
It took me a little while to get in to this one, I felt slightly irritated to begin with, when the author chats to me personally and periodically inbetween the story line, this I could have personally done without. However I persevered and was glad I did, so much so that I bought the whole series of four books. You really get into the characters and the storylines, real page-turners.
Then or course I felt really deflated when I came to the end of the last book.
Well anyway Pamela Burford, since we’re chatting, well sort of, well anyway, PLEASE write some more in this series. I really need to know which man she picks for one thing. Just as long as it’s not the ex, he’s a waste of space!
