Jane Delaney does things her paying customers can’t do, don’t want to do, don’t want to be seen doing, can’t bring themselves to do, and/or don’t want it to be known they’d paid someone to do. To dead people.Life gets complicated for Jane and her Death Diva business when she’s hired to liberate a gaudy mermaid brooch from the corpse during a wake—on behalf of the rightful owner, supposedly. Well, … supposedly. Well, a girl’s got to make a living, and this assignment pays better than scattering ashes, placing flowers on graves, or bawling her eyes out as a hired mourner. Unfortunately for Jane, someone else is just as eager to get his hands on that brooch, and he’s even sneakier than she is, not to mention dangerously sexy.
Just when she thinks her biggest problem is grand theft mermaid, things take a murderous turn. But hey, when you’ve teamed up with a neurotic seven-pound poodle named Sexy Beast, how can you go wrong?

Great Cozy mystery. I feel like I know the characters!
A fun book to read with a quirky heroine and interesting characters .
I was surprised how much I loved this book! And the writer has created a world that I have enjoyed thoroughly! I am on the fourth book of this series and enjoying the humor and the mystery in each one. The characters are fun and feel like people I would be friends with in real life. Jane is the best!
Easy read, fun and entertaining. I will read another in the series.

Very enjoyable. Had many unexpected twists and turns and great characters.
Silly plot but comes out for the best for everyone but the victim
Totally enjoyed this change of pace book.
Good story
Loved it!! This book was fun, entertaining, suspenseful…everything I look for and rarely find in a book. If I met Jane Delaney in real life, I would want to be her friend and hang out with her. She is smart, funny, and daring. This book has many laugh-out-loud moments as well as an intriguing mystery. I am happy this is the first book in a series so I can continue my association with the fascinating characters. Just started reading #2, Uprooting Ernie, and hooked from the first paragraph.
took me a bit to get into it. When it started going somewhere it never stopped.
S.B. and B.S. This book is full of both and lots of fun, too!
A great escape from everyday life. Not too deep so you can whiz through it, and funny to keep you entertained. Also an unresolved love interest keeps you in suspense. Just for fun….
Slow start, great finish.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Keeps you on edge
