Jane Delaney does things her paying customers can’t do, don’t want to do, don’t want to be seen doing, can’t bring themselves to do, and/or don’t want it to be known they’d paid someone to do. To dead people.Life gets complicated for Jane and her Death Diva business when she’s hired to liberate a gaudy mermaid brooch from the corpse during a wake—on behalf of the rightful owner, supposedly. Well, … supposedly. Well, a girl’s got to make a living, and this assignment pays better than scattering ashes, placing flowers on graves, or bawling her eyes out as a hired mourner. Unfortunately for Jane, someone else is just as eager to get his hands on that brooch, and he’s even sneakier than she is, not to mention dangerously sexy.
Just when she thinks her biggest problem is grand theft mermaid, things take a murderous turn. But hey, when you’ve teamed up with a neurotic seven-pound poodle named Sexy Beast, how can you go wrong?

Look out, Janet Evanovich: Jane Delaney is a worthy rival of Stephanie Plum. Bright, smart, and incredibly funny, Undertaking Irene is a delightful laugh-out-loud roller-coaster ride.
Kept me guessing who done it
Funny, quick read.
Fun, although the author’s continuously breaking the wall between the heroine and the reader gets tiresome after a while.
I like it enough to buy the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed the offbeat characters and the unusual plot. It kept me reading and laughing, and I didn’t guess who-done-it (which I usually do). A pleasure.
Jane Delaney has one of the more unusual professions you’re ever likely to come across in an amateur sleuth or cozy mystery. If you like your mysteries served up with a side of self-deprecating humor, give this book a try. Even if you figure out whodunit before the end, the laughs are worth it.
Cute with a twist.
Good whimsical murder mystery! Loved it!!
Very original story and great charCters. I enjoyed it.
A fun cozy mystery with great characters. Very entertaining yet satisfying level of suspense without getting too seriously dramatic. There’s a mystery to be solved and you know that somehow it’s got to end well.
Love the asides by the main character. Amusing book.
Cute, funny, good mystery
I enjoyed this book.
Entertaining and amusing,with a strong story-line and fascinating,believable characters.Great fun.
So want to see the main character find her happily ever after. It’s kind of a cliffhanger
I’m looking for other books from this author.
I thought sometimes the writer went a little overboard with her main characters witty prose.
The characters were interesting, the dialogue was amusing and the relationships were realistic! But the main character is sort of mean-spirited. I didn’t like her very much. But the set-up was interesting.
I loved following Jane and all her little adventures. The characters that surround her are quite unique and fun. I look forward to more in this series.
