Just outside of the big city limits of Lexington, Kentucky, the small and mysterious town of Shady Oaks exists. With a eerily welcoming presence, it offers its residents charm, beauty, and secrets. Surrounded by a large forest and rivers, this secluded town provides the perfect scene for supernatural and paranormal events to occur. Zypher has to get Aleece to Underland. She is the only hope for the people of the land. An original twist on the Alice in Wonderland fairytale. A story filled with drama and twists and turns to keep you reading until the very end. Loved it!!!
I really liked this one. Very intriguing, I couldn’t put it down.
Aleece is another resident in Shady Oaks, friends with Livienne and Sylar. She’s also special but she doesn’t fully understand her powers.
One night she gets thrown into a portal and she appears in another land threatened by an evil queen. She meets Zypher, beautiful blue eyes and leader of the rebellion and together they plant how to free the land.
This story is sweet, entertaining, easy to read and has a Happy ending. I would love to read more from Shady Oaks and the mysteries surrounding them.
This book was a great twist on Alice and Wonderland. I was completely engrossed and couldn’t put it down. The storyline flows smoothly from page to page, the characters are well developed, and I especially loved the main character Aleece. It’s filled with suspense, twists, adventure, and romance, that made it a page turning read.
This is such a good take on Alice in Wonderland. I love the characters and how the story is similar but still original. I was thorough impressed with this story.
So I love fairytales. I also absolutely love twists on fairytales, so a twist on Alice in Wonderlandas well as a return to Shady Oaks, lets do this.
Aleece isn’t your blonde and fair little sweetheart wearing a little blue skirt, she’s your black haired rocker chick wearing black and purple corsets and combat books, oh, and since she’s from Shady Oaks she has powers, but nothing “normal” for our girl, she’s nephilim. And her blue eyed boy isn’t the cat, he’s a bit more, but I’m not giving away Zephyr’s secrets, but I hope he has walk-in closets for everything he’s hiding.
There’s drama and court intrigue. And when this Queen of Hearts says off with their heads to her huntsmen, she’s not playing games! Although there might be one or two creatures willing to partake in a game of chess…
Now, if you want a typical retelling, this isn’t it. If you want sexy times, sorry – not happening. If you want a creative spin, filled with angst, mythical and imaginative creatures, secrets around each corner, pull up a toadstool, pour a cup of tea, and sit a spell
I truly enjoyed this story. It was well written. A good storyline. I enjoyed the characters Aleece and Zyhper. It was a page turner, and many twists and turns. It had me hooked throughout the story.
Alice in Wonderland fans, this is the story for you! We all love the original story. But this version I have to say is my favorite. The characters in this story were addicting. I loved the main character Aleece. I saw a lot of myself in her. And her abilities were majorly cool. I loved following her on the journey of discovering more about herself and this new to her (and us) world called Underland. Especially since she is the one who has to save this land that has been taken over by an evil queen. Enter my second favorite character, Zypher. He works for the queen but is secretly against her. He knows Aleece is their only chance at freedom. As he tries to help her something happens they both didn’t expect, falling in love. But the queen is catching on and soon it all becomes life or death. I can’t praise this story enough. It had everything I love: adventure, humor, drama, romance, suspense and truly great characters. Also it has apperances from Sylar and Livienne from her story Red, part of the Shady Oaks series. That was an awesome surprise. This is definitely a must read and one I will be reading again. I also hope to hear from these characters again in the future.
