At the Undercover Witch Academy, I won’t remain hidden for long.As the first illusionist witch able to syphon magic from everything and everyone, I’m a little sought after. Hundreds of supernatural academies have offered me a place, but there’s only one I’ll attend. The Undercover Witch Academy. Why? Dracian Dread. The male witch who killed my parents is already a top student at the academy, … student at the academy, beloved by all. But, not for long. Soon, everyone will know who Dracian really is, and I’ll be the one to tell them.
When students start to lose their magic, all eyes turn to me. Classes are postponed as an investigation gets underway. There’s no proof that it’s me, and it’s not, let me assure you, so I have to find a way to prove my innocence. Unfortunately, the only ally I have is none other than Dracian Dread, the man I love to hate.
Will I be able to find the real culprit before every student loses their magic for good?

Too much too soon. Not in my age group, more for teens.
YA fantasy fiction with a female protagonist who has magic unlike her peers. Their magic is real while she casts illusions. Normally, such weak magic would keep her out of the magic academy, but she’s a very powerful illusionist and has something no other illusionist has: she does her magic by drawing on electricity. All other illusionist witches have to steal magic from other witches. Because she is different, she is in constant danger. Read the book to find out why.
I enjoyed it so much I bought and read the whole series!!
This series is awesome! I love the storyline and the characters! It’s very entertaining to read.
Enjoyed enough to finish the series =)
Finally free from her overbearing foster family, Alishia goes to the academy to study how to use her illusionist magic and to seek revenge for the brutal murder of her parents, but things aren’t always what they seem and she discovers a unexpected friend and enemies she didn’t know she had.
This somewhat YA collection contains all of the Undercover Witch stories I loved in one convenient package at a great price.
How could you go wrong?
New to me author.
Undercover Witch Academy; First Year is book one in Rachel Medhurst’s Undercover Witch Academy series.
Alishia is an illusionist witch, she doesn’t have any magic on her own. Illusionist witches take other witches magic to perform magic, but not Alishia, she uses electricity.
Alishia’s parents were killed when she was thirteen, she has spent the last 5 years working out how to catch the killer, first she needs to me accepted into the Undercover Academy, then find evidence to prove who did it, then become the best agent.
Dracian Dread is Alishia’s enemy, he killed her parents and now she must get her revenge. But he’s presences makes her feel all warm, and he’s smirk makes you want to melt, nope not Alishia.
This book is a quick and easy read, I read it in one sitting. I enjoyed the characters although I did get a little annoyed with the whole everyone wanting to know Alishia’s secret. Well written with a fast paced and addictive storyline.
Ohhh yes. I totally need the next book. I have never read a book about this kind of witchy power before. I love the main character and her friends. But now I need to know what happens next. Great read.
Alishia is an illusionist witch, meaning she has no magic of her own, only what she can siphon from other witches. But, she’s discovered a way to siphon electricity and now everyone wants her. All Alishia wants to do is go to school to become an investigator.
This is a great addition to the paranormal world that Ms. Medhurst has created. The world becomes richer with each book she writes. The characters are well-rounded and keep your interest. They also act like college freshmen with the same concerns as normal students have only, instead of Physics they study Potions.
Although many of the events are dark, there is still a sense of humor running through the book. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Academy books are so popular these days and I love that! I thoroughly enjoy the premise and I love that Ms. Medhurst has come up with a unique twist on the it with the academy being for students training to be paranormal investigators. We get all the good – the academy setting, the magic and paranormal elements, the mysteries and suspense, and the character-driven plot lines for Alishia and her friends. I’m simply loving it so far and can’t wait to read the rest! Alisha is great – smart, strong and resilient, yet with challenges and issues to overcome and resolve. Her friends are supportive and loyal and I suspect even those students she doesn’t consider “friends” will prove to be on her side in future installments. Definitely, there are those who are just out to get her secret or to gain power, and the unveiling of these characters is being handled really well! I always enjoy Ms. Medhurst’s stories and this series is no exception! I love the way she writes – I always find the characters easy to relate to and invest in, the settings and world-building to be detailed and rich, and the plots are gripping and engrossing for me. Really, I just can’t wait for the next books to come out!
An amazing start to a new series!!! I’m not usually a fan of cliff hangers, but this one made sense and left me happily looking forward to the next book! Plenty of action, mystery, magic and mayhem!! A definite must read for anyone who loves witches, magic and unraveling puzzles!
I am so excited with this new series. Magic is so much fun. A school for paranormal investigators is even better. This is the world the Hunted Witch Agency and Paranormal MI5 investigative services are set. I love that Devon Jinx a up at the school. I’ve already ordered book 2.
