He’s ruthless and broken,

After my father passed away I took over this night club with one goal in mind—make him proud. That’s exactly what I intend to do and I’ll be damned if anyone is going to get in my way. It’s simple…
Avoid distractions.

Sadie is a journalist that is told by most that she doesn’t have the backbone to investigate. She really wants to prove everyone wrong. Reed owns a bar that has a secret. What happens when Sadie begins to dig into that secret? This was an enjoyable read. I liked Reed for the most part. He is a playboy and a jerk. I felt bad for him that he was kind of forced into a situation through no fault of his own. I liked Sadie too, but her inability to resist Reed after he was a jerk to her irritated me. I’m glad with how she handled the situation and decided what was right for her. The writing is good, easy to follow without unimportant filler or stilted dialogue. I am very curious about Stella, Sadie’s sister, and her new boyfriend.
3.5 stars
When Sadie goes undercover for her next story, she never imagines falling so hard for the club owner. And now she faces making a tough decision: write the story and reap the professional benefits, AND lose the man she loves. OR. Don’t turn in the story, and save the man she loves from going to prison. It’s black and white and she has to choose.
But perhaps it’s not all black and white. Can she do the right thing and still keep the man? Or just do the right thing, the consequences be damned, which means giving him her heart and letting Reed break it as he turns her away for lying to him.
I liked this story but I have to admit the last quarter was rushed. I wanted a big payoff or something, and lots of groveling on Sadie’s part. Reed forgave her far too easily and it was all hearts after that. Aside from the rushed ending, though, I enjoyed Undercover Barmaid and will definitely read more by this author.
4.5 Cranky stars
When Sadie had been promoted to investigative journalist she was overwhelmed. She now had her first undercover job in a club to find out if anything illegal was going on.
She managed to bluff her way into getting a job as a barmaid only because the owner Reed took a fancy to her.
Reed liked to love them and leave them no relationship for him. Been there didn’t like it.
Sadie was 100% on doing a good job, but was terrible at being a barmaid, she was kept on for her enthusiasm.
There was a spark between Reed and Sadie but both were trying to ignore but how long can they resist.
Sadie has to make a hard decision.
A very light and easy read, I enjoyed the characters and the antics that went on.
A must read.

Book starts exactly as its stated in Blurb. Saddie’s first assignment as an investigative journalist is to unleash the secrets at one of the hottest clubs in NYC. Rumours tell there has been an illegal activity going on in the club. She wants to prove her worth to her co-workers and boss. She takes up the job as a barmaid (female bartender) in the club.
Reed Titan is the owner of the club. He has a baggage of his own and he has a self-rule not to date anyone as he has been burned in the past. He is a total playboy with mutual agreement between his partners. Even with his baggage he is a gentleman by giving his shoulder for women to cry and taking care of them in need, but he is an asshole only if he has to deal with women after their one night stand.
Both Saddie and Reed are attracted to each other from the beginning and they have trouble keeping away staying away. With the big cover saddie is hiding and Reed with his own troubled past and with current problems, will they be able to get together? They will start getting to know each other but with secretes roaming all around them, trusting each other along with their heart in line is a big risk they should be willing to take.
I liked the climax more than any other part, the way Saddie takes control of the situation (sorry for this spoiler, by telling you she takes the control — to know how, read the book) and handles things.
Plot and story flow of the book is ok ok. Secondary characters are fine. I would like to see more of Lance and Ava in her upcoming books. Go ahead with out any expectations and enjoy the book.
Sadie is a young aspiring investigative journalist who just got her first break on a big story.
Reed is the too-hot-for-his-own good club owner with a broken heart hidden by his snarky and playful attitude. Though he’s lucky with the ladies, he’s sworn off love.
This book hooked me. The world Kirwin creates is easy to fall into and feel a part of— not to mention the smokn’ chemistry between Reed and Sadie. Hot. Hot. Hot.
Sadie struggles with her insane connection to Reed and her need to prove herself as a serious journalist. Reed can’t unwrap himself from his complicated life. Even if he wanted to walk the line, trouble sticks to him like a bad penny.
Sadie has to decide if she’s going to follow Reed into the underbelly of club life or get her story and get out leaving both their hearts decimated.
I loved this book. It was the perfect mixture of on the edge of your seat and HEA. I can’t wait to read another one of her novels!
Uncover Barmaid was a fun, fast read. The chemistry between Reed and Sadie jumps off the pages and will keep you reading to find out what will happen next. I also enjoyed the bit of mystery that was thrown into the story. I recommend this book.
Almost from the beginning this book was at a disadvantage with me. I realize that the other woman drama becomes an important part of the story later, so it was necessary for the plot. But it angered me that one of the very first scenes we see the “hero” in, we have to witness him being intimate with one of those other women. This did not make him a sympathetic character, and I never fully warmed up to him after that. Especially not when Reed’s go-to reaction to strike back at Sadie was to flaunt another woman at her. The drama the sibling’s-best-friend was setting up would have been just as effective as something that happened in the recent past, and the book wouldn’t have run the risk of offending other readers like me. I liked Sadie, but I wasn’t able connect with her. I could feel her angst and conflict, it just didn’t move me. This was a good, well-written book with no great surprises. As a first introduction to the author, it does make me interested in reading more of her work.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.
Sadie is trying to make a name for herself as an investigative reporter. She is given an assignment she is not too sure about but goes for in spite of her doubt. Reed has taken over the family business and when he encounters Sadie, he thinks she is too innocent for the job but he is drawn to her. When these two connect the feelings sizzle and there lies the problem for Sadie. Will she be able to follow through with her job to write the report or will her feelings take dominance not to mention how it will affect any chances with Reed. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is the first book that I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it. This story had suspense, steam and plenty of romance. Sadie and Reed were so good together. They had a very good chemistry that was just coming off the pages. Good storyline with wonderful characters. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
A nice well written story with some steamy passages. Easy to read it´s a good company when it´s cold or raining outside. The plot is believable and constructed accordingly, the description of places and people is accurate. It´s entertaining.
