Emerson
I never forgot him.
He was—is—everything.
But the timing was off;
I had more happening in my life than I could handle.
And now, with him right there,
I can feel how much I’ve missed:
His touch, his scent, his taste.
Except, there’s more on the line
Than a love affair.
We have to keep it professional.
But can I do that when
I need so much more from this undercover agent?

The blurb of this one is what drew me to want to read this story. I have had an obsession with James Bond since I was a little girl. My first crush was Sean Connery even though the man was older than my father. I didn’t care. So finding out this was MI6? Yeah, just take my money. hell, you might as well just take my panties too because even still to this day there is just something about a hot spy fighting for justice.
From the beginning of this book, I was all in with Lynx and Emmy. I kept trying to figure out the mystery. Who was the bad guy, how did they connect? Just like I would watching Bond. That was half the fun. The other half the fun was watching this couple grow, whether that was from their interactions with Simon and Bridget(which was fantastic to see again) to them slowly remembering their past and acting on their connection, it was simply great.
The only reason that this didn’t score higher was I wanted the ending fleshed out more. I wanted to understand Saint and why he orchestrated things the way he did. I wanted Emme and Lynx to talk about what had happened before they came together again. The epilogue almost made up for it.
Great secondary characters that I definitely want to see more of and all the suspense, mystery, steamy times made this a definite hit for me. I will definitely be looking for more from this author.
While I have never read any of the Cocky Hero series (that is about to change) I am a huge Heather Slade fan as in I read everything she writes so I loved this and had no trouble following at all so can be read as a total stand alone
Three years earlier Lennox Edgemon (Lynx) a MI6 undercover agent now CIA had the best night of his life and he has never forgotten the woman that gave it to him but at the moment he is intent on finding his missing agent (Saint) Niven St.Thomas. The only thing is when he tracks down Saint he finds it leads to Dr. Emerson Charles (Charlie ) the woman that rocked his world and who he has never forgotten and who he knew as Emme. Can they find a way to be together and yes we find out more about that China mission that has been through the entire invincible series by this author
This was my first Heather Slade book and I loved it.
At first it took me a bit to really get into this story, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. All the twist and turns and what ifs made for a fantastic read. A great addition to the cocky hero world and a must read.
Impeccable Intrigue and Romance!!
I absolutely adored this story. The hero is drop-dead gorgeous M16 Brit with the accent to swoon over. The heroine is brilliant MIT professor. They had one night three years ago but did not even share last names. Now they are working together on a threat from China and trying to decide if more than this interlude is remotely possible.
The perfect mix of romance, family, connections, in addition to danger and intrigue. I read this in a short time because I could not put this one down! Highly entertaining, pulse-raising and emotional. Simply wonderful.
This is my first book by this author and now I can’t wait to read her others.
This book had it all for me!
There was drama, suspense and mystery as well as all the romance. It had me intrigued from the get go and I really enjoyed it.
If you are a fan of James Bond/MI6 than look no further and pick this book and enjoy the ride, My grandpa and dad loved James Bond movies so I grew up watching James Bond movies and of course am huge fan of Bond movies so this book a treat for me and right up my alley . WOW! I loved it . It has all the feels . This story is part of the cocky hero club . Lennox Edgemon (Lynx) is undercover MI6 agent he has a missing agent (Saint) Niven St.Thomas . He is shocked to find Dr. Emerson Charles (Charlie ) is the same woman he had a one night stand three years ago. The story was captivating and engaging . Lynx is Simon’s cousin so we do get to meet Simon and Bridget. I was hooked to the story and enjoyed every bit of it. I am really looking forward to reading Saint & Angels story . Hopefully it would be part of the Cocky Hero Club Novel Series. Another great additions . A must read !
This is an enjoyable second-chance/romantic suspense romance filled with wonderful characters. It has suspense, intrigue, twists, and turns. Lynx and Emerson have a lot of chemistry and passion. It is fun and sexy. I feel like the story has a lot of potential but there were some aspects that I feel could have been better developed. it was an enjoyable read though and I encourage you to form your own opinions.

A change up from contemporary romances in the CHC world with this romantic suspense story from Heather Slade.
Lynx and Emerson’s story wasn’t a home run for me, but the author did a nice job balancing the intrigue and romance. Neither felt like it was just shoved in as an afterthought. The details of the story and case they are working on didn’t quite work, though. Sometimes too much detail on some things and other times not enough. Also, their miscommunication issues could be a bit frustrating at times.
This does connect to another series the author writes, but I did not feel like I was missing anything essential to read this book.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Undercover Agent by Heather Slade is the story of Emerson Charles and Lennox ‘Lynx’ Edgemon Lynx. This story is part of the Cocky Hero Club Series, but can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. This book has most everything you are looking for in a exciting romance. You have the hot one night stand that neither can forget which a few years later they find themselves meeting again. But this is when the James Bond type stuff starts. Emerson is the very smart women who does have a clumsy side that added to her personality. With Lynx being the cocky agent that makes you drool. Enjoyed their story.
This is the first story I have read by this author and I can honestly say I really enjoyed the whole thing. The story itself was fantastic and the characters were brilliantly written. I couldn’t get enough and would have happily read more about them.
An Absolutely Fantastic Story .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Undercover Agent .
WOW! I loved it . It has all the feels . This story is part of the the cocky hero club . Lennox Edgemon (Lynx) is undercover MI6 agent he has a missing agent (Saint) Niven St.Thomas . He is shocked to find Dr. Emerson Charles (Charlie ) to Saint is none other than the woman three years ago had the best night of his life and he never forgot . Things heat up both with the assignment and their feelings but with so many secrets and danger is a relationship meant to last or end in heart break . This story is a sexy and intriguing romance throw in sexy British spies . Yes please ! The characters are fabulous . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
I love protective alpha heroes, and Lynx was perfect! Undercover Agent was great from beginning to end. Heather Slade’s books always have intriguing characters and interesting storylines that keep me looking forward to her next release.
This was a good Release round for the CHC world. It’s going to be hard for me to pick a favorite for this batch of ten. This was such a cool story with British Secret Agent (James Bond anyone) Lynx and Emerson who is fun and definitely not what you expect for the serious secret agent. With a great story and great characters this is easily a five star read.

With Undercover Agent, Heather Slade manages to beautifully merge her already well established group of agents with the Cocky Hero Club world of Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward.
Slade creates agents, both foreign and domestic, that anyone would want ensuring the safety of high ranking officials and citizens alike.
Add in intelligent, independent women who capture their hearts, and you’ve got a recipe for success.
Undercover Agent centres around America’s east coast. Imagine the difficulties faced when the hero is a British MI6 agent!
Emerson and Lennox’s journey to HEA is just more evidence to show how ‘love will find a way’!
Overall, a nice addition to Heather Slade’s catalogue and a fitting addition to the Cocky Hero Club world.
Undercover Agent takes us into the world of British Bedmate. Emerson and Lynx story has you gripped from the start and on the edge of your seat. Their story is full of suspense, drama and intrigue. A story of concealed longing and desires. These two will own your heart as you fall in love with their banter and the sizzling chemistry that ignites between the two of them. A story that will have your heart pounding and your pulse racing as these two takes us on a ride of passion and love.
Flirting with danger has never felt so sweet. Undercover Agent pulls emotions in a number of directions. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Heather Slade has crafted an adrenaline rush that pulls the heart along on the ride. Lynx and Emerson are a hot mess. Intriguing though that may be. When past history gets in the way of present danger, will they survive the fallout? Edge of your seat romance.
Amazing read! I fell in love with Lynx and Emerson. He’s a cocky hot alpha and she’s the quirky nerdy type. The chemistry between these two, add in the twists and I couldn’t put it down. But as they all say opposites do attract. Loved this read, I am finding so many new authors in the cocky hero book club, and so far i haven’t found one that disappoints. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
All the personal vs. professional lines are being crossed in this exciting romance!
Cocky doesn’t even begin to describe our sexy MI6 agent, Lennox. As a senior agent, he’s always in charge of any situation, including his run-in with his unforgettable one-night-stand from three years ago. I loved how his control was shaken just a little bit by finding Emerson embroiled in his latest mission, especially when he was trying to Not Care One Bit about the extent of her friendship with another agent.
I loved Emerson’s part in this story; she does a remarkable job of holding herself together despite the overwhelming distraction of seeing Lynx again and trying to figure out exactly how her professional and personal lives have crossed. The family twist was pure genius, and I cheered at how they found the key information they’d been looking for.
There’s plenty of intrigue in this story, but the romance is firmly at the center of it all. I loved the way the tension was kept high throughout the story, especially when Lennox is trying to figure out just what it all means and what changes he needs to make. Emme is a wonderful heroine, smart enough to hold her own in the mission and strong enough to stand up for herself when necessary. Their HEA was so sweetly satisfying, and I loved that it included the extended family as well.
I can assure fellow readers that this book is a solid addition to the Invincibles family. This story finally (!) gives us the entire story of the China mission that we first heard about back in Edged. The author brilliantly manages a complex timeline spread throughout the series, though each book is a standalone romance and you won’t lose much if you read them in any order. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Lynx is MI6 and on an undercover mission when he stumbles upon Emerson. She is the one who left his hotel room 3 years ago with no note or even a last name. Emerson is involved with writing policy between the US and China. Will their one amazing night bring them together forever or leave them with nothing but memories?
OMG I think Lynx and Emerson might be my favorite addition to the Cocky Hero Club World so far. I am new to Heather Slade but can’t wait to read more of her work. So excited to see that she has more CHC novels coming and also The Invincibles Series with some of the side characters. Undercover Agent has suspense, angst and all the feels. Amazing addition to the CHC World!
I had very high hopes for this book and was very disappointed.
With reading the blurb, this book had SO much potential.
First of all, he’s with MI6, and claims to be an undercover agent. Let’s explain the wording for those (at the beginning) who have no idea what the wording around being in this type of setting means. Because I think that’s what started my confusion. Throughout the book he doesn’t go undercover for anything. There is a lot of misunderstandings because they wouldn’t let each other talk and say what they felt. They were so hot and cold with each other throughout the entire book too. I felt I shouldn’t have been there during their intimate moments, I didn’t feel that connection with them. There was no steam leading up to their encounter.
The book, I felt like had an outline and then just added some vague details added in to it. Descriptions were very dubious when they needed to be detailed; and when you didn’t need to know the specific scent of Emerson herself (not even her perfume!) or the EXACT favorite colors of Lynx, you got them. I’ve read a lot of books with London characters and Lynx did not do it for me. He had very old English speech that just made you confused.
There was a part where Emerson said she felt betrayed. And I didn’t feel that. I was confused to understand how she could feel that way… upset? Sure. But betrayed? Not at all. She barely knew these people.
But let’s also not forget the parts where politics came into it. Between pharmaceutical issues, sexism, etc. I rolled my eyes a lot.
I felt there could’ve been more to this story. I put it off at first that it was due to it being part of the Cocky Hero Club, since I’ve not read here it all originated from; that maybe I was missing something, but I’m clearly not. I have no desire to want to read any follow up books about the other side characters in the series.
I’m glad they had a happily ever after, but that may have been the only part that I truly connected with for the book. I wish I could say I loved this book, I really do. But when I feel lost throughout the entire book it’s not one I often want to continue. But I muddled through. Proceed with my warnings.
