She has her sights set on ruling the syndicate, and she always gets what she wants. When the heir to one of the States’ most powerful crime families comes knocking, Nadia sees it for the gift it is. He thinks he has her fooled, but she’s smarter, more cunning, and always two steps ahead. She’ll beat the gorgeous mobster at his own game, and secure her place in the fold.

‘We are not ‘fake’ anything now’
Book one of the series and we are thrown into the middle of a very tangled web, someone is targeting the mafia families, a dangerous game at any time but when those families then come together to hunt to enemy the danger trebles.
Nadia and Carmine have been brought up as enemies but are now forced to work together, there is no trust between them, but what happens when over time hate becomes awe, distrust becomes a need to protect and lust becomes….love? Are they enemies or soul- mates?
This is a complex plot with lots of mafia ‘rules’, numerous twists, turns and dead ends, high danger, fast paced and very steamy, a great start to the series with books two and three released in April and May.

New Mafia Romance Series to get lost in!!!
My first book from this author and I was hooked from the first page…the prologue part shows Nadia as outspoken, direct, fearless girl who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to reach for it….and this time she wants Carmine but she comes to know that.
Carmine and Nadia were THE Power Couple…they have a kind of Enemies to fake lovers..to lovers Romance which I found something new and welcoming…though they are Enemies.. from Rival Mafia Family, they are forced to work together to catch the real culprit behind the attacks on both their family….and how this fake Relationship turn into something more is something I adored.
This book wasn’t dark at all…more like a mafia contemporary and have just the amount of Mafia…The mystery and suspense kept me hooked …a great start to a new mafia series…I am definitely going to keep up with the next boo
After reading You Belong with Me I could not wait for this series to begin. If you enjoy Mafia Romances and have read any of the With Me In Seattle Series, or even if you are new to Kristen Proby’s books you’re going to want to grab this one. I was hooked from page one!
Carmine Martinelli is the eldest son to Seattle’s Mob Boss and with that comes some obligations and responsibilities but there is one thing that Carmine wants most and that is justice for the murder of his Aunt and Uncle, Elena’s parents from You Belong With Me. So the best way for him to seek the answers he needs is to infiltrate the Russian Mafia and he knows just how to do that.
Nadia Tarenkov’s father is the head of the Bratva, some call her the ice princess others are smart and keep their mouths shut. She may come off as a spoiled princess or a girly girl but she is a kicka$$ woman. She has hopes to take over the syndicate when her father passes but not being the eldest and being a woman are two strikes against her so she plans on doing everything possible to show her father she is capable of the position.
Carmine and Nadia are great together if it was possible you would believe they could start a fire with just the sparks in their eyes because they had that much chemistry….to bad they hated one another.
This story takes us on a journey where we second guess everything because nothing is as it seems. So get ready for a bumpy ride that is steamy as F&@K and watch as Nadia and Carmine come together in the most delicious of ways.
Happy Reading!!!

STORY:
I’ve never read this author before, and I am trying, but not please. It didn’t even make a 3 star for me, which means I like it. Also, the voice actor doing the audio, wrong voice actor for this role. It was not believable.
The prologue started out great because it got me excited for what’s to come. I even like chapter 1. After that, I became uninterested. I am a sucker for the dominant male with a submissive trait of a female in my books. Furthermore, I am also a sucker for strong females, but this one was not done right. Carmine came off not intense, for someone who is a part of a crime family. I felt like something was missing with him. Nadia wants to take over from her father, a very dominant female, but her choices left me scratching my head. I also think 70% of why I was not a fan of this book was the plot and how it was conveyed to me. The mafia vibe was ok, it was not pulling me in.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
I was very much disappointed with the sex scenes. It was not strong. They only kept mentioning that the sex is great, but I did not feel it was.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Carmine’s family/brothers seem interesting, but no one had my pulse doing drum beats.
OVERALL:
I was not a fan of a lot of things, and it’s rear that I have so many issues with each section I dissected for myself based on my preference. The fact that it was my first book from the author makes me not excited to start book two. Unfortunately I got the audiobooks of book 1 and 2 on sale for $5 weeks ago, so I will at least try book 2 and see because I already bought it. I got excited seeing all the reviews, but I totally understand that we all have different opinions, I just wish I was part of the majority that loved it as I was looking forward to it.
TRIGGERS: assault and violence
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

UNDERBOSS
(WITH ME IN SEATTLE MAFIA #1)
BY: KRISTEN PROBY
REVIEW
Thank you Kristen Proby for a complimentary copy. I voluntarily reviewed this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
I’ve read my fair share of mafia fiction, but UNDERBOSS is a new favorite for a couple of reasons. First, the story as a whole is not brutally dark and heinous. Mafia fiction tends to be darker than I would like most of the time. Kristen Proby manages to create the ideal balance of gritty and hot romance.
Another common problem with mafia romance is character development, and I usually find myself disliking everyone. This is largely due to the stereotypes that keep repeating. In UNDERBOSS, Carmine is a sexy alpha male, but he has a conscientious attitude instead of being a total jerk. Nadia is an amazing female character because she is not the simpering virgin waiting to marry some guy. Nadia is her own woman.
Together, Carmine and Nadia are a dynamic force to be reckoned with who complement each other well. This new With Me In Seattle spinoff series is off to an excellent start. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
The is the first of a series by Kristen Proby that we see a bit of Seattle once again but we have two hot characters who have no idea what to do with each other. I fell for Nadia because here is a tough woman on the outside but inside is a girl just wanting to be loved. Then we have Carmine who was taught at a young age to always guard his heart but somehow Nadia has gotten under his skin in a way no one has done. Not only do we have these two figuring out their feelings but someone is trying kill of their families. From Seattle to Paris we see their love growing and their chemistry hotter than ever. Kristen Proby and these two was beautiful to read it seemed perfect these two all the way. Have to say at first you might hate Carmine for his feelings but man once you see more of him you will melt for him. All in all this series is kicking of in a great way..Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
This is the first time I have read Kristen Proby and I really enjoyed it. Mafia is one of my favorite tropes and this book does not disappoint. This felt like a novella to me simply because of how quickly the story moves and time progresses. In addition, questions are answered quickly and easily without a lot of work put into how the characters are drawing such conclusions. None of that bothered me though because even though there were some darker themes to the story it ended up being a lighter read. I liked both Nadia and Carmine a lot. They play off each other well and the chemistry is evident even if explicit steamy scenes are missing from the pages.
I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Such an easy enjoyable read!
Underboss by Kristen Proby
With the exception of the Shadow series, Underboss by Kristen Proby was different than anything I have read by her. I’ve procrastinated on writing this review because I had such a difficult time wrapping my head around this story. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I absolutely loved it. It was everything I needed from a Kristen Proby book that I didn’t actually know I wanted! I do not want to wait to read the next book, I need it NOW.
I’m not really a fan of mafia/mob genre but this book hooked me from the very beginning. I was intrigued by Nadia Tarenkov and Carmine Martinelli, who had chemistry in spades from the very beginning and woah, was it hot! The mystery, suspense, danger, and excitement had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. I half wanted to put it down because of the anxiety of what might could/would happen and half not wanted to put it down because I needed to finish the story like I needed to breath. I don’t want to give too much away because it’s just so good, I don’t want to ruin the story.
I have a tendency of looking at the world in black and white but this book gave me the realization that it’s okay if there is a little gray. Nadia, Carmine, and their families (for the most part) are good people despite their family and their profession.
It all started with a kiss…
Carmine was Nadia’s first kiss at the tender age of 13. They were from opposing families. But weddings and funerals, those are truce days. The Martinellis and Tarenkovs are not friends. Even if there may be more between their families than animosity.
Carmine is determined to use Nadia to get revenge for the death of his cousin’s family. He thinks Nadia’s family is guilty of it.
And so begins his romance of the spoiled Bratva princess. Little does he know, she is playing him too. The charade is revealed when someone attempts to poison his father at the wedding of her cousin, Annika. Their fathers’ pair them up to investigate it.
All the steamy heat you expect from a Kristen Proby book PLUS suspense and intrigue!! We also meet his brothers; Rocco/Rafe & Shane; and Nadia’s cousins; Annika & Ivie. We’re in the world of the With Me series. There are some Easter eggs for those familiar with Kristen’s series.
I adore some intrigue and suspense with my romance so I adored this book!! Nadia is far from the spoiled Bratva princess Carmine thought he was using. He should have known not to underestimate the woman who kissed him when they first met as kids. Carmine is dominant and protective but he also respects Nadia as he gets to know her. And she isn’t some fragile damsel in distress that needs his saving.
I love the relationship between the brothers and their family. Plus we have the strong women on Nadia’s side of things. These are not weak women. And I can’t wait to see more of them. And the men.
What do we get?
~Strong, sassy, stubborn, smart heroine.
~Sexy, alpha, protective hero.
~Family; of all sorts!
~Intrigue!
~Mystery!
~Paris
~Mafia
~HEAT!!
~and so much more!!
This is the start of its own series, so you can start here without having read Kristen’s With Me series but it might get you curious to start it too!!
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Underboss is the first book in the With Me in Seattle Mafia series by Kristen Proby.
I must say I haven’t read a book by Kristen in a while but then I saw she is writing a new mafia series I knew that I have to read this story! I fell in love with Carmine and Nadia’s love story. They have known each other since they were kids. Their families are kind of enemies but now they have to work together. Carmine and Nadia have this strong pull towards each other and the air is sizzling whenever they are in the same room. It was beautiful to see that with each day they start to trust each other more … which also built their relationship into another level.
I had no idea how much I would love this book and in the end I was so obsessed with the couple! Kristen wrote such an amazing story and I know you will love it as well (even if you don’t like mafia stories). I can’t wait for the next two books in this series! This is a must read!
Underboss is part of the With Me in Seattle by Kristen Proby but with the mafia. It’s been a while since I have read a book by Kristen. Carmine and Nadia’s story was an enemies-to-lovers with a mafia twist. Carmine thought getting closer to Nadia would help him get revenge on her family. I think I was expecting something a little darker like other mafia romances but I still fell for this series and can’t wait to read more.
3.5 Stars
This was my first time reading this author, and since I’m opening up to more of the mafia world in my romances, I figured I’d give this one a try. And that stunning cover didn’t hurt matters either!
As for the actual storyline, it started off really great: I adore a forbidden, enemies to lovers romance and Nadia & Carmine have that in spades. Plus their chemistry was just through the roof! But as the book went on, their connection just felt so forced to me. They seemed to have lost the initial spark they had early on, and I really struggled after that.
The mafia aspect through me off too. This is definitely the lightest mafia romance I have ever read, and despite the fact that their two families were each other’s sworn enemies.. They got along surprisingly well? There wasn’t any real danger, no grit, I wasn’t on the edge of my seat.. if was just kind of thrown in there.
Overall this wasn’t a bad book by any means, I just wish the mafia aspect had a little more oomph to it.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
This was another great one from Kristen Proby. She is so good at introducing new characters while incorporating all of her past couples seamlessly. I like that she continued with the mafia family. Great book can’t wait for another. This one had mystery as well. All of her characters definitely are mouthy and have guts and I love that!
Underboss
A With Me in Seattle Mafia Novel
By: Kristen Proby
Narrated by: Kelsey Navarro, Tor Thom
Kristen Proby and mafia? I am all in with this listen! This is the first in her With Me in Seattle Mafia series and I am hooked! Carmine and Nadia come from rival families. Carmine is determined to infiltrate Nadia’s to find the killer of a family member by making her fall in love with him. But can he? Nadia may be his true would mate. Nadia is feisty, smart and has little fear. When she is in danger, where does she turn though? Who can she trust? And what is she going to do? These two have infinite chemistry and their banter is priceless. But besides that, the story is just fun, exciting and unpredictable! I can’t wait to see what Proby has in store for us with book 2!
Tor Thom and Kelsey Navarro are perfectly cast as the roles of Carmine and Nadia. Thom has that smooth baritone that with a change in his inflections is lethal. He becomes Carmine, and brings out not only his brawn but his vulnerability, making him human and easy to love. Navarro is amazing as Nadia. This character has a lot of facets. She is strong, yet unguarded, smart and sassy and takes as good as she gets. Navarro hones in on every feel. This team brought the story alive!

This was a brilliant start to this new series from Kristen Proby and honestly once you start this one you will be completely hooked and unable to put it down until you have finished devouring it.
This one features Carmine who is the eldest son of a Mafia boss, and Nadia, a Bratva Princess. They are both sent on a mission to find out who is trying to take people out in both the families. The storyline is addictive and completely enthralling.
I loved Nadia and Carmine, their chemistry was off the charts hot and at the beginning there honestly was a fine line between love and hate. They were perfect together.
This honestly was a steamy all consuming story filled with suspense, intrigue, family, love and loyalty. I am extremely excited to see where this series is going.
Kristen Proby and the mafia…yes please and thank you!
I loved Nadia! She was so much more than the designer clothes and a pretty face. She was strong and fearless, smart and a force to be reckoned with. And Carmine knew it. Ohhhh Carmine. He is the epitome of broody alpha. He knew what he wanted at that was Nadia.
I liked that while Carmine and Nadia were ‘forced’ to work together, they also let their guards down. Opened up to one another and shared parts of themselves with each other that they never had before. But as secrets are revealed, things heat up, and not in a good way.
Full of steam, danger, second guessing and family, Underboss was non-stop from the get go. Nadia and Carmine’s quasi forbidden romance was hot and full of heart. And that ending! Gah! I am so ready to see what Kristen Proby has in store as this series moves forward.
This spin-off series is amazing! Underboss will keep you guessing until the very end, while holding you emotionally hostage and unable to put the book down until you have closure. When I first started reading, I was nervous about the lies and deceit between the main characters, but it’s all worth it in the end, I promise.
The dual narration in the audiobook takes the story to a whole new level. Bringing the characters to life and making you feel like your part of the mafia right along with them. This book was everything I could’ve hoped for and more. I was enamored with the With Me in Seattle series, so I was excited to dive into this new spin-off. It definitely reignited my love for the mafia and I can’t wait for more!

It has been a while since I have read a Kristen Proby book. I forgot how much I loved her books. I really enjoyed Underboss the first book in a new series. Once I started I could not put it down, you will be hooked.
Carmine and Nadia steamed up the pages. The chemistry these two have was off the charts. The two should not have been together but after one night they can’t stay away from each other.
Underboss was a fast paced read in the mafia world full of suspense and romance. This is a book you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I want to say that I’ve read a decent range of mafia romance and they toe the line of being quite dark, so it’s a welcomed surprise when you have one that’s on the softer side? Not sure if that’s the best way to explain it. Anyways, I definitely enjoyed Kristen Proby’s take on mafia romance in Underboss. I’ve dubbed this as KP’s style of mafia romance and I’m here for it.
Well everyone knows that I loved a bada** heroine and that’s what Nadia is. And it’s even better when you bring in the hero, Carmine, that sees her as his equal.
Bring these two in for an enemies to lovers and that they’re from opposing mafia families, ohhhhh the tension and off the pages chemistry!
This was definitely a quick read and a great start to this series. And I know that KP’s fans will absolutely love this series. Definitely looking forward to the next one.
