You have the right to remain…sexy.
As sheriff of Redwood Ridge, Parker Maloney has learned to bite his tongue at the ridiculous antics of the town’s matchmakers. He’s just grateful they’ve never messed with him before. Except it kind of seems like he’s their next target. They keep sending him on one wild goose chase after another with a single common denominator–Madeline Freemont. Whatever. … Whatever. Maddie spent their youth terrorizing him and he has zero interest in reopening the claw marks. No matter how beautiful or intuitive or funny he finds her. Nope. He’s laying down the law on this one. Yet there’s something to her hot-as-hell spine of steel act he can’t figure out and she’s beginning to unlock the cell on his restraint.
Maddie Freemont’s no newcomer to the cold shoulder. Most of the town never warmed up to her. Or tried. So when her ex leaves her high, dry, and so in debt she’s forced onto the street, it’s no shock there aren’t any offered helping hands. She’s making due by taking any odd job she can to scrape by. Even though she would’ve done anything for Parker’s attention once upon a time, the last thing she needs is to be on his radar now. Why they suddenly keep crossing paths is a mystery. But it’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore his handsome, subtle charms–and how he’s working his way under her resolve to expose desires she long ago shoved aside.

Book Five of the series, and this time the matchmaking trio have their sights set on Parker the handsome sheriff. Once again Ms. Moran’s writing is gut wrenching real.
So hard not to be in love with the book or the series as a whole. 4.5 /5 .
Redwood Ridge always feels like coming home. Whether it’s the small-town camaraderie, the laughs of friends, or the gossip surrounding the Battleaxes’ latest match, you’ll always find something to delight you. This latest installment was no disappointment.
Parker has been single for years, a somewhat-confirmed bachelor who spends his time flirting with the ladies while protecting the residents of his beloved town. Little does he know, he’s the meddling threesome’s next target. What’s even more unbelievable is his match’s identity: none other than Madeline Freemont, unrequited high school crush and snob of the century.
But Maddie’s been through a lot in the long years since high school, and she’s not the same person she used to be. Though the whole town blames her for a family scandal, Parker quickly realizes that the new and improved Maddie is someone he wants in his life forever. What follows is a sweet, yet bumpy path to a romance with the power to change both their lives. Wrongs made right, and faith in humanity restored. I personally couldn’t put it down; in fact, I went back and re-read every Redwood Ridge story just to stay in this town just a little longer. I love this place and I hope the stories never stop. After all, I doubt the Battleaxes can stay idle for long.
“For the record, I was an idiot.” For kissing her? Was that what he meant? “What?” “At fifteen. Hell, at sixteen, seventeen, and eighteen. Whenever your interest in me started and for the whole duration. I was an idiot for ignoring you.”
Parker has very distinct, and unpleasant, memories of Maddie. Except for one, the first kiss he ever had. Other than that, Maddie was quite vicious to most everyone. Rich girl, bad attitude. But things changed for Maddie. After her father and fiance’ went to jail for scamming money out of a lot of Redwood Ridge residents, Maddie’s life was never the same.
Maddie knows Parker has a savior complex. He has a good heart and wants to help everyone. His role as sheriff is the most fitting of positions for him. Maddie is no longer that mean girl he knew from school. But she’s not sure she’s prepared to show him who she really is now.
I love Parker and Maddie’s story! It was a great ending to a wonderful series. Kelly Moran rocks this book and this series!
This story is a heartbreaking and touching story of two individuals that met in kindergarten.
Maddie was the spoiled rich girl, who terrorized a little boy all the way up to HS. She was one of the mean girls.
When her father and fiance are found guilty of embezzling most of the residents of Redwood Ridge, she became the outcast. Most of the town did not believe she was innocent and clueless of the crime committed by the ones that were suppose to love her. They have turned their backs to her , and she can only find menial jobs while living in the woods.
Parker Maloney, now the town’s sheriff, was the little boy that was victim of her pranks. He always believed in her innocence and when he sees her for the first time since the trial, he finds a ghost of the girl he knew. A young woman that enters through back doors, and is ignored or chastised by everyone .
A friendship begins and Parker is not only attracted to her, but sees the real Maddie.
What secrets is Maddie hiding? Why is she staying in town when most people hate her?
And in the mix, why are they being thrown together after 3 years of not crossing paths?
Aside from the engaging plot and the complex characters it’s also a story about attitudes, family dynamics or lack thereof, how someone else’s mistakes can change ones life and sadly, how frequently people are judged and hung just because who they were associated with.
This is another wonderful story in this series. Whether you have read all the stories, or like me, only a few, you are in for a treat.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
“We were never friends.”- Maddie Freemont
Her world crumbled around her, the day her father and her fiancé pled guilty to the crimes of which they had been accused. Madeline Freemont went from prom queen and future trophy wife to… A custodian named Maddie. From designer dresses and diamond tiaras to stained coveralls and broken nails, Maddie scraped and bowed to everyone that she had previously treated with disdain…..
“But, put him within fifty feet of Maddie Freemont? He turned into a tongue-tied, forgot-his-own-name, card-carrying member of the idiot brigade. ” Parker Maloney
Parker Maloney was stunned when he saw Maddie Freemont for the first-time in… Forever. But those blue eyes… That sunny blonde hair… It’s Maddie, all right…. But not the Maddie he remembers; the snark is gone, as is her air of entitlement. Parker isn’t sure what to make of the blonde former terror… Except she still intrigues him just as she had in high school…
“One shouldn’t live in the past, Parker. You’ll smack into something in the present looking backward and not get a clear view of your future. Trust me.” – Maddie
Parker Maloney had always been her unattainable desire. The unfailing kindness in his eyes had always intrigued her, yet they had never dated. And now… Well, now, he wouldn’t give her a second glance… would he?
A sweet and intriguing tale; one of betrayal, redemption and love. A second chance romance you won’t be able to put down!
Redwood Ridge is a small town where everyone knows you and knows about you and is always there to lend a helping hand except when it came Madeline [Maddie] Freemont. Her dad and David [her fiance at the time] swindled/stole hard earn money from a lot of the people there. It turned out that Maddie was not involved in the crimes her dad and David committed. Maddie had left town 2 years ago after her dad and David were convicted of their crimes. Maddie comes back to town and she is far from being welcomed. Maddie is forced to live in a tent and work numerous jobs as she intends to pay back the money her dad and David stole from everybody. She has been staying under the radar [going in the back door of the places she worked at and the grocery store]. Then you have Parker Maloney the Sheriff of Redwood Ridge and his memories of Maddie were not good as she tortured him in high school and she was not a nice person [it was all a facade as she had a crush on Parker]. The Battleaxes have Maddie and Parker on their radar. It started when Parker had to go pick his niece up from school and Maddie walked into the class of Parker’s niece [thinking it was empty] and she turned around and left. Parker was surprise to see Maddie and decided to try to talk to her but, Maddie wanted no part of it. Well it turned out that Parker would end up showing up at other places Maddie worked at. Parker at one point did have a conversation with Maddie and she did try to tell him that she was not welcomed in Redwood Ridge. One day Parker insisted that she go have a cup of coffee with her and that is when he saw first hand about what Maddie had told him. One day while Parker and Maddie were together at his house his phone went off and it was an Amber Alert about a missing 12 yr. old girl and Maddie said she would feed and let Domino [Parker’s dog] and lock up the house. Well while Maddie was on her way back to her tent [she went the long way] she heard rustling and whimpering and it turned out it was the missing girl. Maddie calmed the girl down and talked to her and took the girl home. Parker was surprised to see that Maddie was the one who found the missing girl but, the treatment from the girls parents really pissed off Parker. The love scenes between Parker and Maddie were a surprise. I truly, truly loved this book. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the Redwood Ridge Series!!
This is a heartwarming story of one woman’s struggle with acceptance, her reluctant re-entry into the community, and the sexy sheriff who won’t take no for an answer. I enjoyed my return to Redwood Ridge and the latest “victims” of the Battleaxes as they continue their match-making. This was a fun and entertaining read, while also touching and emotional. I highly recommend it.
This author never fails to draw me into her stories.
I eagerly read it almost in one sitting.
The characters in this book were so much fun to read and become friends with.
The plot was fantastic because it had so many emotions.
I loved the drama, the humor, and the romance.
This is definitely a 5- star read.
Wow! What a great book! Parker is just the absolute best and is just what Maddie needs. This story is full of heart and emotion. Great story!
Redwood ridge is a place where everyone know everyone. They pull together to help when needed except when it comes to Madeline Freemont. She left town years ago after her father and fiancée were convicted of swindling the town out of their hard earned money. When she comes back she is far from welcomed and is forced to scrape by working numerous living off the radar. It isn’t until the battle axes have her and Sheriff Parker on their radar does things change. He knows she’s innocent of any crimes yet he remembers the girl who tortured him in high school He’s trying to reconcile that with this new Maddie. The story is about redemption, forgiveness and just heartwarming. I truly enjoyed as much as the rest of the series. You can read it as a stand alone but I’d definitely would read them all because it’s that good. I received an ARC and this review based solely on my own honest opinions.
An amazingly beautiful love story in a heart-wrenching situation, an emotionally wild ride from devastation and distress to filling my mind, my heart, and uplifting my spirit.
Redwood Ridge is one of my favorite romance series. I fell head over the heels in love with the townfolks, the characters, the battleaxes, the matchmaking, and mostly – with the love stories. And this admiration towards the series has just grown with each new book.
The sheriff of Redwood Ridge, Parker Maloney, has been on the sidelines of the stories, and I am so glad he got his own HEA. Parker is such a cool guy, tough yet gentle, he is thoughtful, kind, considerate, generous, he is loyal to his friends, openminded, and just everything Madeline Freemont needs, even if that is not obvious at the beginning.
Madeline’s backstory and current situation broke my heart in two. And to know that it is the reality to too many people, left a little ache in it as well in the matter of ‘take action to prevent that happening’. It was all so real and raw, yet at the same time wonderfully ardent and marvelous.
A beautiful story of forgiveness, redemption, acceptance, and most of all, learning to trust and daring to take that leap of faith to open your heart to love.
~ Five Spoons!
Welcome back to Redwood Ridge.
A powerfully emotional and amazing story. Excellent plot , good pacing and all the feels.
Maddie, was not nice to people while growing up , she was miserable and thought any attention was better than being invisible Now as an adult she is being shunned and mistreated for crimes her father committed.
Parker , Town sheriff grew up in Redwood Ridge thought he knew his town till Maddie, thanks to the Battleaxes came back into his life.
As Parker and Maddie get to know each other, feelings are revealed and Maddie’s true nature shows him that she is not like she used to be.
Can they make things work , or will the town tear them apart.
I recommend this 5 star read and the entire Redwood Ridge Series
Maddie/Madelyn & Parker
A unique love story of the poor little rich girl turned just poor. When Parker and Maddie were kids she teased him ruthlessly. Little did he know it was her way of trying to catch his attention to her crush. He just remembers her as the @itchy rich girl. It surprised the whole town when she was left penniless and alone after her father and fiance were convicted of fraud–of most of the town. She was even more ostracized now then way back when.
The two keep getting thrown together. He suspects the elderly matchmaking sisters. The thing is, he is finding out Maddie isn’t who she used to be or was it what everyone thought she was. Her living situation is a shock and something he finds he wants to change.
This is sometimes emotional, funny, steamy, but always filled with great characters and a love story different than you’ve ever read.
Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
Looking for a sweet romance with a really fun story look no farther. Redwood Ridge is a wonderful a small town with all the quirks that small towns have, but it has wonderful characters. Now the matchmakers are turning their sights on Sheriff Parker.
Kelly Moran pulled out all the stops for a wonderfully emotionally charged and heartwarming story.
4.5 Stars
This is the fifth book in the series. I love this series and reading this book just made me fall in love with it even more. Parker is perfect book boyfriend material. If you don’t fall in love with him then there us something wrong with you. That man has so many swoon worthy moments, but his shining moment is how he is there for Maddie. Man did my heart go out to Maddie. I know she was the mean girl in school especially to Parker, but we learn her reasons. I loved there were people in her corner even if she didn’t realize it. Too bad there are more against her then with her in the small town of Redwood Ridge. This book is going to hook you right in from the beginning. This is a book you don’t want to put down and may cause a book hangover (it did for me). A must read with a lot of heart and emotion!!
Parker Maloney is the Sheriff of Redwood Ridge. He cares for the town and the residents. He grew up here and plans to grow old here, but he’s started thinking about his future. He wants a wife and would like to start his family. Who have the town matchmakers chosen for him? Suddenly he keeps seeing Madeline Fremont, a former classmate, who drove him crazy. She was a mean rich girl but her life fell apart when her father and fiancée were convicted of misappropriating/stealing from investors. Now she works menial jobs and is disparaged by people. It bothered me that they blamed her for what her father did. That’s unacceptable. I liked that Parker treated her with respect. Parker is a real hero. I liked that he doesn’t judge. In fact he’s attracted to Maddie and wants to romance her, but she doesn’t want to harm him. Can Parker convince her to be his? Kelly Moran pulled me into this emotional story. Parker is a powerful hero. He won’t be swayed by others. He will follow his heart. Maddie is so vulnerable. She takes abuse without complaining. That bothered me. I hoped she would realize she deserved to be happy with Parker. This book is a true gem. I loved Under Pressure.
So I’m new to the Redwood Ridge series and I didn’t realize what all was happening and how much match making and scheming happened in this small town. I gotta say I loved Parker. His wit and determination to find out the truth made him so more attractive and the fact that he didn’t believe he was on their radar was hilarious! He is the town’s sheriff and why there’s not much that happens besides picking up dog poo and fixing locks to keep animals out. He still makes a good living for himself. Madeline I really felt sorry for. Yes she wasn’t nice while in high school and made Parker and others lives rough but she had her reasons behind it. She has been thru a lot in her short life and thinks to recent events that happened, she’s living in the shadows. The town hates her but she’s trying to make amends with these people. She has a good heart just not willing to open it to love. She was burned bad. Seeing Parker everywhere she works and remembering her crush on him makes things hard as well. She wants to keep living her life the way it is but Parker is pushy and wants her to see her life differently. I swear I teared up so much when the townspeople finally realized how much she did and showed their love for her. It was such a touching moment. These two are great together and this was a great book with redemption and so much love!
This book brings us back to Redwood Ridge. This time the battle axes have set their site on the sheriff as the next set up. This set up is to someone from the past. Parker doesn’t realize that Maddy is back in town. She flys under the radar because of what her dad and former fiancé has done the town folks.
This was the usual romantic read from Ms. Moran but this story had a underlying emotional stigma. The town remembers the old Maddie and what her family is done and shun her. The story is how Parker fights for Maddie to realize how worthy she is. It was great to see how the town realizes the true Maddie. I loved the one liners and pranks between Maddie and Parker also.
A heart warming read.
This was a very good story, full of humour and emotions.
This is the last book set in the small town of Redwood Ridge where everyone knows each other and there are no secrets.
This city is ruled by three women who like to help cupid, playing matchmaker for the young folks.
I’ve enjoyed to read how Parker, the handsome sheriff, and Maddie, his beautiful and unattainable counterpart, page after page overcome their hurdles and many doubts in order to find happiness, love and approval.
I’m going to miss this bunch of characters but I’m sure Kelly Moran is already at work to give us more of her words and our next favourite novel.
