Clarissa Wild’s an auto one-click for me!
First of all there is a short prequel to this book that I personally would reccomend reading as it’s an insightful look into Clarissa Wilds new world.
Second I loved this book and cannot wait to see where Clarissa is going to take us in the next installment, it does end on a cliffhanger, most great books do.
This is definitely different from her other books but different in a exciting brilliant way.
I loved it and totally reccomend it.
This book was NOT what I was expecting and had a sort of a Handmaidens Tale vibe. I want to sing Clarissa’s praises on this one, but in all honesty, there were quite a few times in the book where it was touch and go. The one thing that I always enjoy about her writing is that it is dark and often taboo. Yes, this book was a thriller in itself, but the build-up took forever and it was severely lacking of any of the usual steaminess that her books hold. I won’t even start on the cliffhanger at the end. I felt as if I invested myself and didn’t get much in return. Nonetheless, I can’t fault her writing. I only wish that she’d developed the book a bit more, i.e. developed the characters, developed the scenery, etc. The topic of religion and cults is quite present in this book, however, she still only skimmed it, I would have appreciated having this a bit more developed. I know this is the first book in the series, but it’s still a little wham bam.

Under His Rule by Clarissa Wild is the story of Noah and Natalie. This is one psychologically dark, with a steamy suspenseful thriller read. Without giving anything away, just know that this is gritty, gripping, raw, dark, twisted, full of loss, secrets and heartbreak, yet there is plenty of sex and passion. Ms. Wild has written a intensely great read with characters that will have you completely invested in literally 0.5 seconds flat. The chemistry between them is electrifying. The cliffhanger ending has me needing book 2 like yesterday because I need to know what will happen with Noah and Natalie, especially after that twist at the end. Another fabulous read!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars ********
OMG!! What a book. Noah and Natalie’s story is definitely a dark one. I wasn’t sure when I started it if it was for me but I couldn’t put it down and the more I read the more intrigued I became. I became completely drawn into it and riveted to every twisted moment. It’s a book that I definitely recommend to anyone who loves dark reads. Absolutely loved it
Wow! This book is simply phenomenal. What can I say—you will be astonished by the cliffhanger! This is a different type of story, but an amazing read! This story will keep you on the edge of your seat to find out what happened next. I was flabbergasted with the unexpected revelations that happened, but it is jaw-dropping good! Noah belongs to the Family, a lifestyle he was raised in and accepted. Noah is one who will manipulate anyone to get what he wants, but everyone must follow the rules of the Family. Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Natalie is forced into a world of darkness and terror. Natalie was thrust into unfathomable circumstances after her curiosity caused her to seek the man with the tattoo on his hand—the same symbol as the one on her scarf that she carried from the orphanage. Something Natalie does not know, Noah has a plan for Natalie. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what happens next! Clarissa Wild has constructed a deliciously dark romance that will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that, you will not be able to put this book down. This is a MUST READ!! You won’t regret reading Under His Rule!
What a spin this story is! Noah helped Natalie escape the Family as a child and one day he finds her again and forcibly brings her back into the fold. This is a unique story, full of darkness that will keep you guessing at every page. The characters are intense and are either light or dark and it will leave you wondering, can such a place really exist? A powerful story that will leave you guessing and you can’t help but wonder what’s next. I honestly volunteered to review this arc.
Clarissa did a great job with building up this little world. She did a thorough job creating the backstory of Natalie and Noah throughout this book. Totally believable as a cult.
Under His Rule by Clarissa Rule starts the story of Noah and Natalie so there will be another book to continue their story. Natalie was a orphan who was raised in a orphanage with her only connection to her mystery past was a scarf that she had from her childhood. When she starts to wonder about it she ends up seeing a man with a tattoo of the same design as her scarf. This leads her to meet Noah who is a part of a cult that has darkness around it. Noah is drawn to Natalie and knows that he must have her so he takes her to the compound called ‘The Holy Land.
This does have trigger and dark scene so if you aren’t into that this won’t be the book for you. I hope to read the next installment soon!
This story of Natalie and how she gets kidnapped to join a cult. Noah is a Patriarch of this community cult. Natalie is was just looking to find answers to her past when Noah sees her and has her kidnapped to become his wife. The whole story is a mix of emotions and how scary people believe what the do in a cult. It is listed as a dark read but I wouldn’t consider it dark maybe a little gray. The only thing I was disappointed with is its a series and now I have to wait for the next book to find out if Natalie truly gets out.
Holy moly I’m obsessed! This book is so twisted and so wrong but so dang good.
Natalie was looking for answers but instead finds herself captured and fighting feelings she shouldn’t be having. She is an extremely strong-willed woman who fought from the first page till the last. Which btw, ends on a cliffhanger that has me feigning for the next book. Noah is mysterious and dominant. His personality demands respect and obedience but Natalie’s stubbornness only makes him want her more.
This story unnerved me but only because of how real it felt. It’s one thing to be captured by one person but it’s a whole other fear when it’s you against a community. I think the characters were written so well and the plot of the story is so intriguing. I honestly couldn’t read it fast enough.

4.5 Under His Rule Stars
Okay, so I read the prequel leading up to this book and it was intriguing as it encompassed a new world in a way. A teenage boy helps a mother to “save” her daughter
This story starts when Natalie is older and is curious as to where she’s come from and how she ended up being orphaned with very little to go on….other than a scarf with a symbol on itWhen Noah sees her, he instructs a man to grab her and so begins her introduction into the Family
This story was definitely unexpected and I can honestly say I wasn’t quite sure where it was going until I was about 3/4 of the way through. Thank you to Clarissa for my advanced copy for which I voluntarily leave my honest review
4.5 stars
This was a interesting read. It makes me think that this might be what it’s like living either like the Amish or the FLDS Mormons.
It’s different and very eye opening. I’d say lots of research was to done for the writing of this book. I liked the chemistry between Natalie and Noah. I also enjoyed reading their sex scenes. When I thought all was starting to go well, there’s a huge twist and the cliffhanger.
First and foremost, I have always loved CW books since the first one I read years ago and that has not changed. But going into this book I was actually not in the mood to read a dark romance. When an author can draw you into their world on the very first page this shows the true worth of a great writer.
I was absolutely consumed by this book. When I was reading I couldn’t put it down, when I wasn’t reading I was thinking about the next time I could pick it up. This book was nothing like I expected and yes I expected it to be fantastic but it was just so much more. Will it take top spot in my fave Clarissa Wild book? I’m thinking once I get my hands on book 2 they very may well have a chance of sliding into that coveted spot.
As you can see I haven’t actually discussed the story line at all in my review and the reason is, is that you don’t need to know any of that you just need to jump on in and enjoy the ride!!
I cannot wait to see what else is in store for Natalie, Noah and the Family.
Definitely worth the read!!
Definitely slightly different from this author’s norm. The storyline is unique and a little troubling. My mind is a bit befuddled regarding this book. I’m not sure how I feel about the subject matter. Part of me was yelling at my kindle – part of me was hoping the story would end how I wanted. The storyline is unique – a little troubling as well. The writing is well written and I love that it is free from edits which is become it rarer these days but Clarissa’s books are always in good form. This storyline is about a place in the world where men rule – a cult if you will. The woman are told what to do, and they do it, no questions asked. Noah wants Natalie has a mind of her own. She has devised a plan. Natalie isn/t just another subservient- she is a free thinker, they haven’t squashed her idea of her self worth, she’s feisty and stubborn. I found this story emotional at times and it does end in a cliffhanger. I received an arc copy of this book from the author.
A community where the men rules. In this cult like living, the women are only there to serve. The story is dark. While Noah wants Natalie for his own but she has her own plans. I like that Natalie is feisty and stubborn. Under His Rule is different from what Clairissa Wild usually writes. Nevertheless, it’s good reading. The story does end in a cliffhanger.
Copy was received for a honest review.
This was mindblowing there’s no way I could put this down it consumed me. Noah and Natalie are such strong willed characters and Natalie is in for a huge awakening as she is forced into the family of crazy rituals and rules, that hold huge secrets and twisted up events.
I loved it and I need more of this stat in my life I’m hooked and addicted.
Wonderfully twisted beginning to this dark romance series.
Natalie has been curious about where she came from for a long time. She has a scarf with a symbol on it that was with her when she was put in the orphanage. When she sees a man with the same symbol tattooed on his hand she is curious and goes to a recruitment meeting to see if he will give her the answers she seeks. The instant Noah sees the beautiful young woman with a scarf on that has his family’s symbol, he knows he’s found the one he’s been looking for. So he captures her and takes her to their compound, The Holy Land. He plans on making her his and where she was looking for answers she’ll only find herself Under His Rule!!! The twisted cult like place Natalie finds herself in holds no appeal to her, expect for an elusive woman who Natalie gets the distinct feeling she knows. This is a wonderful read and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, Beyond His Control.
I love a good, dark romance, and I love reading about cults, even though those are harder to find. If that’s your jam too, then you definitely need to read this one! I dont want to spoil anything, so I wont go into details, but this was definitely a page turner! I cant wait for the next book to come out!
