Betrayed by her people, does she dare trust a dragon? The alien dragon shifters who discover Earth come in peace—at first. Then, inexplicably, they threaten to attack. In an attempt to show goodwill and appease the dragons, Earth sends a human woman to become a concubine to one of the Draconian king’s sons, Prince K’ev.K’ev would sooner give up his ability to breathe fire than accept a human, but … than accept a human, but when he meets Rhianna, sparks fly, and his dragon realizes she’s his mate.
Rhianna falls for the hot-blooded prince, unaware she’s a key link in a desperate scheme to defeat the dragons, a strike that could backfire with devastating consequences. Will she figure out what Earth has planned in time to save her dragon mate? And if she does, will K’ev be able to save her planet from an angry king’s retaliation?
The PREQUEL to Under Fyre tells what happened during the friendly early encounters between dragons and humans. On his first diplomatic tour of Earth, young Prince K’ev meets a child, Rhianna Montclair. As an adult, she will become his concubine, his mate, his everything. Both are unaware of how important that first meeting is and how everything soon will change…
Note: The prequel is a 2500-word prologue to the main 60,000-word novel, Under Fyre. It is new, exclusive content not in the main book. In addition to the prologue, the prequel also includes an excerpt to chapter one from Under Fyre.

A little slice of dragon heaven! Get ready to get your giggle on!
What is a prince to do when he is sent to Earth to dip his toes into the responsibility of Diplomacy? His father wants him more involved and to tighten the diplomatic ties between their two planets. K’ev is snark personified. he has a great sense of humour but his tact is…well I’m going to hibernating. LOL One little girl may just make his trip worth it, however.
Setting up for the release of the full book in May, there is over a decade in time passing between them. Rhianna is way more than she appears. She has the put upon attitude than only small children can achieve (and get away with) but you also see glimpses of the spitfire she must become. K’ev maybe the grown up here but Rhianna is way more mature!
Under Fyre Prequel is book #0.5 in the Alien Dragon Shifters series by Cara Bristol. This is my very first time reading this author and wow, what a way to start.
This is a very short, only about 20 pages, introduction to this series as well as a short peek at the first chapter of the next book. Earth has discovered they are not alone in the galaxy. There is another planet whose inhabitants are dragons. Prince K’ev is the son of the king of Draco. Their planet is a hot planet filled with erupting volcanoes and molten lava, just the way the dragons like it. But the core is cooling, and their planet is dying. The earth is not a suitable environment for the dragons, it’s much too cold. But the humans feel threatened by the dragons of Draco. So the king has sent his son to represent them in a show of good will. Prince K’ev is not particularly fond of humans, until he meets one particular little girl, a girl with flaming red hair, ice blue eyes, and not a hint of fear. This little girl, Rhianna Montclair, will play a very important part in K’ev’s future, he just doesn’t know it yet.
In this short amount of pages, I was completely hooked. I loved Cara’s writing and what a unique premise. I can’t wait to get started on the first full book in the series. Stay tuned. As soon as I am able to read it, I’ll be telling you all about it.
This is a quick snippet of how the dragons and humans met to get us ready for this new series. It also shows us how Prince K’ev meets who will become his concubine in the future, Rhianna. I absolutely loved this snippet and can’t wait to read this series and see where it takes us! I love dragon stories on a whole and this one sucked me in just with this quick read! Especially with the way things play out between these 2! I just wish it had been longer!
A taste of the future!
An intriguing look at a young girl who loves the idea of dragons and her encounter with a prince who is one. She’s fearless. Except for her, Prince K’ev is unimpressed with the people of Earth. I’m eager to see how this progresses in “Under Fyre!”
THE DRACONIANS COME IN PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP
Ok, I’m already hooked, and this is just a very tiny taste of what is to come with this new series. OMG, I was laughing at loud and already love Prince K’ev and his snarky attitude. I don’t want to tell too much and is it May yet? To have the first full book has me excited and sad—but I know it will be worth it.
The first half of the prequel sets up the dragons and humans and the second half will give you a peek into the first chapter of the book when it comes out, May 21st. Fifteen years will span between those two times—but keep your eyes on Rhianna, with ice-blue eyes and hair blazing like the sacred flame in the Temple of the Eternal Fyre! Prince K’ev doesn’t want to be on Earth, but his father, King K’rah feels he needs to do this, be an ambassador to Earth.
Now some quotes from the prequel.
“It’s time you take more responsibility. I’m sending you to Earth to represent the royal court. The experience will be good for you and will help you grow up before you take the Flight of Fyre.” –King K’rah
“Everyone is curious about Draco. Before we ever ventured into space, we wondered if extraterrestrial life existed. We never expected to find dragons.” –Earth official
“Dragons were predators and carnivores; they ate meat. No one had eaten a human as far as he knew, but if they tasted anything like they smelled, they weren’t good anyway.” –Prince K’ev
“Do dragons get married? No. Such transient, inconsequential pairings were the purview of humans. Dragons mated for eternity.” –from a Q&A by middle schoolers and the Prince
Under Fyre Prequel is just the beginning to this new world that Ms. Bristol has created. Earth has recently found out that there’s more intelligent life to the universe than they could have imagined. On a trip of good will, Prince K’ev is reluctantly visiting an Earthen middle school. As soon as he shows his half form, all of the children run, terrified, all except Rhianna. Red hair and ice blue eyes have captured the attention of K’ev and his dragon, but what are the chances that they’ll ever meet again?
Ohhhh, I’m already so excited for the first full length book, and this prequel was both a blessing and a curse – I loved it so much and I only want more!! K’ev holds so much disdain for Earth and for the humans, but I loved how both he and his dragon was so curious about this little girl with no fear. While we don’t get to see much of her, I can already tell that Rhianna is going to be bold, brave, and curious, but hopefully that won’t get her into trouble in her future. This is definitely a short little look into the lives of the humans and dragons, insight to their thoughts and feelings for the opposing alien, but it’s enough to get you hooked and wanting more!
This prequel has me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the series to begin! Can not wait to get the first book in my hands!
I’m absolutely hooked on the way Bristol continues to put a new spin on science fiction romance. I loved everything about this prequel except I hate the wait on the full book. The main book involves dragon shifters on far away planet who are threatening attacking Earth. Their prince is given an human concubine in hopes this will bring about peaceful solution. However being a concubine is far different than consort as we find out in the prequel.
The prequel is set in years before the problems between the planets. The characters are middle school age when they encounter each during a diplomatic stop at the school. Prince K’ev is arrogant and resentful of all humans. And Rhianna is shown to be intelligent and far more open minded than the spoiled prince. I can’t wait to see how Rhianna opens his mind and heart.
The prequel sets up the characters beautifully. It’s such refreshing concept to do the prequel set at a meeting in their youth. I’m dying to read the full book. I will definitely be doing another Bristol binge read when main book comes out.
I was provided an advance copy of the book by the author for review.
Intriguing. I loved it.
Cara Bristol – Under Fyre (Prequel)
In this excellent prequel, the reader is introduced to two characters: an alien dragon shifter (Prince K’ev) & a curious young schoolgirl (Rhianna) their story will continue in “Under Fyre (Alien Dragons Shifter 1)” I enjoyed reading about the reactions of the prince when he comes into contact with earth & the humans, needless to say “He definitely was not impressed”
I will be waiting with great anticipation for this intriguing shifter romance.
This is a very short prologue to the full story Under Fyre. If you like dragons, you’ll like this series; this prologue definitely piqued my interest. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this Prequel.
This is going to wet the appetite till the book comes out.
A New Exciting Escape from Reality is On the Horizon
Interesting prequel to what will be an exciting escape from reality in a world far, far, away. Ms Cara Bristol is one of my favorite Authors and is a Bestseller for a reason. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us this time! This hors d’oeuvre definitely whetted my appetite!
I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is the Prequal to a new series. It was very fast to read and caught me from the start. So Looking forward to reading this series glad to have some back ground to the characters before the main book comes out only problem now is that I have to wait!!!
