After the epic struggle of World War II, W.E.B. Griffin’s bestselling chronicle of the Marine Corps enters a new stage of modern warfare—with new weapons, new strategies, and a new breed of warrior—on the battlefields of Korea…In 1950, Captain Ken McCoy’s report on North Korean hostilities meets with so much bureaucratic displeasure that he is promptly booted out of the Corps—and just as … Corps—and just as promptly picked up by the fledgling CIA. Soon, his predictions come true: on June 25th the North Koreans invade across the 38th parallel. Immediately veterans scattered throughout military and civilian life are called up, many with only seventy-two hours notice. For these men and their families, names such as Inchon and Pusan will acquire a new, bloody reality—and become their greatest challenge of all…

As a Marine I enjoyed this series about the Matine Corps immensly
Best story teller of our time, very enjoyable.
W.E.B. Griffin is the master when it comes to military novels.
This is one in a series of books Griffin has written around a group of characters (most of whom are US Marines) as they progress through their lives and careers in the Corps. It is easy to read, chock full of little facts about Marine Corps history and traditions that are served up in the course of the storyline, and the characters are credible and well-developed.
W.E.B. Griffin’s books are always winners. Well written, action packed and well researched…..
What a page turner! One of WEB Griffin’s best works. Put the coffee pot on as you’ll be up all night. You wanted to feel like you’re at the FEBA (forward edge of the battle area), you got it. You wanted to hear the bullets whistling by your ear while diving for the dirt, you got it. And how about the characters, many brought forward from previous books? The characters in this story just add to the realism of combat.
Read it and enjoy!
Cheers

I really enjoy his books. I’ve been following him for years and found very few books of his that was not top notch.
Great characters and good plot
A lot of details – especially about MacArthur – a good read but not great.
I’ve enjoyed every one of his novels. Well plotted and great characters.
Lots of war time drama.
Easy to get hooked on this series (The Corp) Griffin did a fantastic job IMHO.
Book couldn’t be out down, I enjoy how the authors base the book on history and weave the fiction into the story.
WEB Griffin hasn’t written a book yet that I have not enjoyed. It started with the Lieutenants and has just continued.
I have the entire series
Great series!
Love this author.
Like a lot of Griffin’s books as they get later in a series, there is a lot of padding with descriptions of activity from earlier works in the series. Anyone looking for a completely original novel will be disappointed. But, the rehash of the older material does allow a newer reader to understand the context and the characters, almost as if this were a stand-alone novel. The development and the story telling is up to Griffin’s usual excellent work and contains characters who are expertly woven into historical accuracy.
Excellent historical fiction.
As with all of W.e.b. Griffins books I found it very entertaining. I reread it in the Kindle edition several years after I read the hard copy and it seems that they left out the survival on the pilot that was shot down. Perhaps that was in a follow up book with the same characters. Good reading though.
