Blue Hollow Falls may be a small Blue Ridge Mountain town, but it’s big on love—and second chances . . . When former barrel racer Cheyenne McCafferty left the circuit, she left her past behind too. Now, as part owner of Lavender Blue farm, she’s content rescuing and rehabbing horses, and growing a new business. She’s only got one regret: letting go of Wyatt Reed. When he professed his love, she … Wyatt Reed. When he professed his love, she was too young and foolish to know her heart. After that he disappeared. But when his beloved horse turns up on the auction block, Chey makes a bid and wins more than she bargained for . . .
Chey believed she was ready to face Wyatt again, to explain herself. But seeing the man he’s become, she’s unsure. Gone is the quiet, gentle boy she knew. In his place is a rugged, confident adventurer who’s seen the world. Yet the longer Wyatt sticks around, the clearer it is that the feelings of their youth aren’t so easily dismissed now that they’re adults. In fact, the timing may be just right to make the dreams they’ve shared under a firefly moon come true . . .

We finally get former barrel racer Cheyenne McCafferty’s story and best of all it’s a second chance story! These stories set in Kentucky’s Blue Ridge Mountains are just so rich in small town connections and beautiful settings. This story highlights being environmentally enriching without destroying the charm of the area and making the world a better place. I loved how the town got together to fight the deep pocket developers.
Cheyenne’s life on the rodeo circuit destructed with the violent death of her brother bull riding and the loss of her two best friends, fellow barrel racer Victoria- Tory Fuller, and Wyatt Reed. They both left the circuit about the same time and she spiralled in her grief. When she met the now Fearsome Four life changed for the better. She found a home with these women. This story starts out with her old friend Tory contacting her that Wyatt’s favorite horse Buttercup is in bad shape and on the auction block. Cheyenne comes to bring Buttercup home to her horse rehab at the Lavender Blue Farm. When Tory arrives after her place is sold she comes with Wyatt forcing the two of them to reconcile after so many years. One of the most delicious part of this story is watching Vivienne Baudin in all her Broadway glory deal with rich Paul Hammond, Mr. Deep Pockets. Then there’s the revelation of what Wyatt Reed has been up to since he left the circuit and his violent, drunk father. We get to see these two people grow to understand each other once again as adults and see they are both good people trying to help others. I love getting to visit old friends we have come to know in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book which returned to Blue Hollow Falls (BHF) and many of the characters from the previous books. I read this book with a sad heart since the author Donna Kauffman has recently passed away. I knew this would be my last visit to BHF.
I love Ms. Kauffman’s heartwarming plots and this book is definitely another gem to add to her collection.
I give this 3 1/2 stars, I had to go back & re-read it again, at a slower pace. Kind of twisted in a way for story line.
As always, Donna Kaufmann delivers a tale of love and trials amid small town life. A relaxing and thoroughly entertaining read while being cooped up in isolation.
