Book 2 in a 4 book series. Each book features a different brother and each can be read STANDALONE.
Memories.
When does our past stop picking at our scars and start letting them heal?
Scars.
Can we see beyond our wounds to the possibilities the future holds?
Possibilities.
How do we let ourselves become vulnerable enough to trust the love that’s right in front of us?
Fate. She’s a fickle, … front of us?
Fate. She’s a fickle, wily bitch that slaps us in the face every opportunity she gets. Sometimes it’s a taunt, but sometimes it’s a goddamn wake-up call to pay attention. Take what’s rightfully yours without shame or apology. So when destiny put me straight in Alyse Kingsley’s path once again, I knew this was one slap I wasn’t ignoring. I’d let her get away once. I wouldn’t again. She was mine and I was takin’ her, kicking and screaming if need be.
Alyse ~ Deceit and betrayal. Every single person who was supposed to love me committed one of these.
My mother.
My father.
My sister.
My lover.
Incapable of letting people see the real me, I hold them at arm’s length. But Asher Colloway is relentless and it doesn’t take long before I cave to his pursuits. The big question is: can I let him in where it counts most? Before ghosts from my past come back to haunt me in ways I can’t possibly fathom? Before it’s too late?
Asher ~ Trust. Forgiveness. Impossible concepts, having been fucked over by a woman I’d loved before. But those aren’t my only personality flaws.
I’m possessive.
I’m jealous.
I’m dominant.
I have a secret kink.
I want Alyse. All of her. She shows people the shiny, untainted surface. I want the murky, damaged depth. The shadows. I want in all the way. Just when I think I’ve made it, fate cruelly bitch-slaps me again. And this time I don’t see it coming. The question now is: what am I willing to do to keep the woman I love by my side? And can Alyse accept me the way I am, faults and all?

Loved this series and the characters
This was another absolutely fantastic read by K.L. Kreig. I loved the 1st book in this series about Livia and Gray, and despite some less than stellar moments by Asher in book one, I was still looking forward to his story. It did not disappoint.
Asher and Alyse had a past with each other that started before the time this story primarily takes place in. They met years ago when Gray and Livia met, but they kept their very short lived relationship a secret due to their age difference at the time being an issue. But now that they are back in each other’s lives, Asher isn’t going to let anything stop him from having her and keeping her. But Alyse has been hurt so many times in her past that she is not sure that she can ever let anyone in again.
I found myself really feeling for Alyse. She has had so much heartbreak in her past that she has chosen to close her self off. She feels that its just a matter of time until anyone she lets in will hurt her again, so she just keeps anyone from getting all the way in. I loved that Asher wouldn’t just let that happen though. He was determined to prove to her that he wasn’t like anyone else and that he was there to stay. And while he was a strong, very alpha male, he also had his own insecurities that made him very endearing and an even more well rounded character than some alpha men out there.
I love the Colloway men. Each book just makes me love all of them more as I get not only more background and insight into the main brother the story is about, but also get glimpses of the others along the way. While these books can definitely be read as standalones as each brother has their own book, I am enjoying the experience so much more by reading from the beginning. But either way, I whole heartedly recommend these books.
Now on to Luke’s story…
Really a 4.5. Great continuation of the Colloway brothers stories. Editing was really pretty good. Several misses, but not enough to ruin the read.
Asher first met Alyse when she was a teenager, and off-limits to his 21 year old age self. That didn’t stop him from going after her, but his brother stepped in before things went too far. Eight years later, Asher sees Alyse again as his brother Gray is marrying her sister Livia. Old feelings wake up, and Asher begins the same Colloway relentless pursuit of the woman that speaks to their soul. Asher has trust issues brought on by a past relationship, and Alyse has issues brought on by a past love. As they work through their issues, they encounter a bombshell that none of them saw coming. Not only does this revelation rewrite Alyse’s past, it also changes the truth about all the people she thought she knew. As they deal with the fallout, will they both learn to let the past go, forgive the people in the past and themselves, and look to the future? And finally, Alyse and Asher learn the truth of Livia’s sacrifice.
This was a good continuation of the Colloway’s story. I am so looking forward to Luke’s story. Enjoy!
I thought I loved Colton Donovan and Shaw Mercer. I was pretty sure I loved Gabriel Emerson and Cole Holloway. I know I loved Christian Grey and Hudson Pierce. But holy hell…. that was before KL Kreig introduced me to Asher Colloway!
What a beast of a man!
First off – I cannot believe that I did not know about these books until 2 whole years after their release date! Shame on me!
I loved the first two books in this series, so knew it was a no brainer that I would enjoy this one – but man-oh-man I had no idea just how much! There is certainly something about Asher Colloway that sucks you in, in all the right places…….
Kelly has written him in such a way that I was embarrassingly blushing and fanning myself in public – yep that was me; class A idiot right here!
Alyse is a beautiful character and you really feel for her and are rooting for her to get her “happy beginning” but I just could not pull my head out enough of the lust filled trance that Asher Colloway induced! Seriously….. the dude is hot! Hotter than hot actually! In all factuality – what is hotter than hot…?! Whatever it is – that’s him!
It surprised me, to be honest, because in the first two books; there wasn’t anything that really connected me to him. I didn’t really have any desire to read more of his story. There wasn’t anything that intrigued me to begin with, like some of the other characters. But thank god for Kelly and her superb imagination and writing skills, Asher is now sitting pretty at the top of my book boyfriend list.
It is a gorgeous story line of these two and I love that it continues on the time line from the first books, so we can continue to keep up with all the other characters. I adore these brothers and their family and friends.
So for now… I’m off to start Luke’s story… Good Luck to me at getting Asher off the brain long enough for Luke to melt my heart too….
Thank you again Kelly for ANOTHER 5 star read!!!
