THE THIN LINE BETWEEN LOATHING . . . AND LUST It’s been a tough year for Beth Boone. She’s lost the person she cared about the most: her big sister. But Beth isn’t grieving alone. She’s now guardian to her sister’s three children and though she loves them fiercely, so far she’s not exactly winning at parenting. In this noisy, peanut-butter-everywhere chaos, there is no calm. None. So Beth has … peanut-butter-everywhere chaos, there is no calm. None. So Beth has zero patience with the infuriating guy next door-not to mention his destruct-o “puppy”-wreaking more havoc in her life.
Except that Tripp Black is all muscles, deep brown eyes, and lips that promise way-too-delicious things. Every time Tripp and Beth confront each other, there’s an undercurrent of red-hot sexual tension, one that threatens to break down all her carefully constructed walls. She’s been burned before, and Tripp is a self-proclaimed bachelor for life. There’s no way that Beth’s too-hot-neighbor-from-hell could ever be the man for her-until their uncontrollable attraction becomes so much more . . .

After having her life completely uprooted and left in disarray after the death of her sister and her sisters’ husband, Beth Boone is left struggling to find her new normal, along with now caring for her sister’s three children. She went from being a somewhat carefree independent woman to a new mom in a matter of minutes and she was no where near prepared to handle any of it, but little by little she is beginning to get a handle on things… or so she hopes! That is of course until her nephew decides to venture out on his own, and winds up finding himself stranded and alone out on the water in the family boat, and Beth is beyond panicked and in desperate need of help, so she turns to her neighbor Tripp, whom helps her get the young boy safely back to dry land. Asking Tripp for help was hard for her, since they have never really been on good neighborly terms, but with no other choice at that moment she had to put her differences with him aside and put her faith in him… and doing so showed her a side to him that she never knew existed. A side that has her rethinking her initial thoughts about him, a side that has her wanting to let him into her carefully guarded world!
Tripp Black has never met a woman more infuriating than Beth Boone, she is constantly banging on his front door with one complaint or another about his dog wandering to her side of the fence. And when she isn’t over at his hassling him, her nieces and nephew are always finding their way into his yard, and leaving messes behind. He knows he shouldn’t let her get under his skin, but for some reason there is just something about the gorgeous woman that fires him up, and has him acting uncharacteristically from time to time. He’d love to get to know her better, and possibly form a truce, but she doesn’t seem to be open to letting him into her carefully guarded world… that is until her nephew is in danger and she needs his help.
After reading the synopsis for this book, I was giddy about having the opportunity to get back Maribelle, Florida and to the characters of the Country Roads Series. It has been a while since I have read a book by this author, but after only a few paragraphs in, I was quickly reminded why I enjoy her books so much, this one was by far one of my favorites of hers to date! The story line pulled me in and had me flying through the pages as fast as I could swipe them, and I loved every minute of what I found!! I have been waiting for Tripp’s story for some time now, and I have to say he was DEFINITELY worth the wait, he had me under his spell the minute he wandered onto the page… he was something else!! If you are looking for a story that will give you the feels, then look no further, this one will captivate your attention from the get-go and Ms. Richard’s endearing characters are sure to steal your heart and have you feeling the emotion behind every printed word!! Definitely another can’t miss addition to the Country Roads Series!!
